Very important. Read notes about Sashimi. The pieces are probably 5 times larger than sashimi pieces you get in Japan and at least 3 times larger than every other American Sushi restaurant. The fish pieces are massive. The price is reasonable but Sashimi regular is more than enough fish for 2 large and hungry people. Don’t get me wrong, it was delicious, but save your money and go a-la-cart with one to two pieces of each kind of fish you want. They also don’t have ginger sauce which I mark as a point against them. Additionally the owner is definitely Japanese(great thing) but some of the staff are not and have no clue what Toro is or Asahi and the communication barrier is frustrating. Its possible it was just my server. Overall I recommend this place. Great fish, good service, reasonable prices, and great atmosphere.

I have travelled the country and ate at exceptional sushi restaurants. I was surprised by this place. If you can get past the terrible service, the sushi is decent. Not the cleanest place, but I don’t think that applies to the sushi area.

Food and drinks were good, but an hour and forty minutes before they closed they were cleaning and clearing tables they even took our SOYSAUCE!!! The only reason I handed it over was that I thought they were going to fill it up for us! That was at 9:20, so I thought they must close at 9:00. When we got outside and looked at their hours it said that they close at 11:00 on Fridays! We will not be back again!!!

I was disturbed by the material or bandanna between the dining area and cooks. Never a good sign. Then after taking a bite of my dragon and Phoenix I realized I was chewing a fish Skelton. Not only was I mortified to have it in my mouth but having to get it out in front of others. Then the waiter was asking if we were done with our soy sauce took it and made us feel like the place was closing. Save your money go where your wanted and the food is safe.

Consistently good food, both when dining in or taking out. Service is fast and pleasant. Food is fresh and always tasty. I’ve eaten here for over 10 years and have never had a bad experience!

I give Taipei & Tokyo 5/5* for its delicious Japanese and Chinese food with absolutely no MSG. I also give the MOD, that I refer to as the TigerDragon(TD) 5/5* for being militant with his ID policy. If you have an expired ID don’t expect to be served a drink — the TigerDragon won’t have any of it, which makes me happy being rest assured that minors won’t be able to drink. This 32 year old found out the hard way that the TigerDragon doesn’t mess around with fake IDs — go figure…

Our waitress was noticeably dripping in sweat, forgot our drinks, brought appetizers after the meal, and took forever with the check. I’ve been here many times and the service is usually fair but it was bad this time. I will avoid coming back here next time I’m in town.

Food is solid. Service is so-so, especially when doing take out. Last night was the third time that I ordered food and was either charged for it and it wasn’t in the bag or that it wasn’t even on the order. The kid on the phone when I got home and unpacked and noticed there was no chicken fried rice seemed aloof and unapologetic. Now I could have gone through every item in the bag prior to walking out of the restaurant, but really should I have to resort to that? Especially when I read the order twice to the kid. Time to go back to the old stand by, Chen Lang li or Chen Garden. BTW, Chen Garden’s sushi is A LOT better than T&T.

Best sushi in NH. Try the Ocean Maki– it’s SOGOOD. Dinosaur Maki and Volcano roll are fantastic, too. Love their house Lo-me in if you’re in the mood for Chinese style cuisine.

This restaurant is terrible. The shrimp tempura was pretty much just batter with a little tail on it, the sashimi was way too tough to be really fresh(and this is when it finally thawed out after about 30 minutes, and the salmon teriyaki was super dry. Even the seaweed in the miso soup was terrible. It was crunchy! Can’t say much about the service since there was none. After we ordered our food we were on our own. My stomach already hurt when i hadn’t even left yet. I will never go back.

Keeping this short. Great place to dine in. The service was the best i’ve ever seen. It was during lunch so it wasn’t super busy, but I would like to think its always that good. I really enjoyed the food too. Fantastic chicken fingers. Lo mein and fried rice done well. Great sushi and sweet and sour soup. Portions good enough for a perfect score from me. Check this place out!

Love this place! Favorite place for lunch and great for dinner too. Not your typical greasy over sauced Chinese food. Great menu and good prices too.

I love you Unilocal but sometimes you really let me down. In Bedford today and was looking for some sushi for lunch. Decent reviews brought me here. Lots of reviews about rolls should have warned me that the sushi and sashimi probably sucks. And it does. The tuna was so pale I thought it was a white fish. People, tuna should be deep beautiful red all the way through. It should almost bedazzle when it arrives. The salmon was ok. I also got a shrimp tempura roll for the fun of it. The huge rolls everyone talks about are all rice. Big massive rice rolls that have some fish thrown in. The rice is mushy and sucky. The miso soup… inedible. It had some weird slimy brown flakes in it. And the salad was a bowl of watery mess at the bottom. I ate the fortune cookie just to get the tastes out of my mouth.

I have been to this place a couple of times and both times ordered the nabeyaki udon. I’ll admit that this udon is the main reason I like this place so much. I also had the black pepper salmon salad both times and it is amazing too. I find the udon to be the perfect dish to warm up with, and love how simple and tasty it is. This is also the only Japanese restaurant I have yet found in New Hampshire that serves much Japanese food other than sushi. The interior is nice as well. It’s not fantastic, but the last time I was there I was seated in the center of the room, and found the screen placed by the table to be a nice way of creating some isolation there. I’ll definitely be going here again for more udon.

My husband I frequent Taipei & Tokyo mostly for sushi lunches. It is definitely the best place to go in the area — the sushi is always fresh and yummy and for an app the edamame with garlic is so delicious — it is hard to stop eating. We also pick up some chicken with mixed veg, general tso’s and brown rice quite frequently and it always hits the spot — even the next day. We have tried several other similar places in the area and have not found one that comes close so we always come back to Taipei & Tokyo. The food is very consistent — it will taste the same every time. The waitstaff is great — we go about once every 2 weeks and they always remember that we like the low sodium soy sauce. They are also pretty quick — we had lunch here on the very busy Christmas Eve and we were served within 15 minutes… the place was packed. We also ordered takeout for New Year’s Eve which, of course, was another ridiculously busy day. They had our food ready right on time and it was delicious when we warmed it up later. This place is truly 3.5 stars but we bumped it up due to the service and consistency. Is there a better place to get standard chinese food and/or sushi? Sure, but probably outside of Manchester and since this is local for us — it’s the best around. Yes, the place needs a good update — they are still working on the mid-70’s version but I am okay with that because it is very clean and if they became more hip and trendy, the prices may go up(the prices are very good comparatively) and they may get too busy(I hate to wait!).

I’m struggling between giving this restaurant a 2 or a 3. But I’m going to rate it on this specific experience and go with the 2. I’ve had good experiences in the past before I had moved to CA. When I moved back, either my expectations have changed because I’ve had really great Japanese food in CA, the food quality has significantly degraded, or I got them at a bad time. I’ll preface this by saying that I’ll probably come back at some point to see if I do have another good meal here because I used to eat here all the time and was satisfied. My aunt and I ordered a Japanese lunch special box with Chicken Teriyaki, White Rice, Salad, a Gyoza and California roll. The portion was pretty large, can’t complain about that. A lot for the money(I think it was around $ 7 or $ 8) The food was mediocre. Horrible California roll, but I’ve yet to find decent sushi in NH so I didn’t expect it to me great. The Gyoza was very dry and hard around the edges. The salad has a soy based dressing on it which was fine but I was really hoping for a good ginger dressing… and finally the chicken teriyaki was very dry. I was really disappointed.

Taipei and Tokyo continues to be the busiest Asian restaurant in the Bedford vicinity. As an update to a previous review, the food continues to be of good to excellent quality for the price. The issue is that the restaurant has not been updated in over 12 years. It is time for some cosmetic updating. The carpeting is worn and dirty. Plates and silverware are past their prime. My recommendation is that they close their doors for two weeks next summer and give themselves a much needed facelift. Nearby, Chen’s Garden is providing a much better ambiance although I prefer the food at Taipei and Tokyo.

my family and i came here to celebrate my grandmothers 90th birthday. there was 32 of us. that’s right, 32 of us! and boy was the table loooooooooooooooooong! this was the closest decent chinese restaurant to my grandmother in dover, which was still about an hr away or so. hahaha. we had a nice 10 course banquet, traditional for chinese weddings and special occasions. the food was pretty good, i wouldnt have expected any less or any more. it’s typical chinese food and pretty authentic but still catered in my opinon for americans. but i left really full and satisfied and didnt have to pay. so it was good for me!

I own a small business, and I take myself out to lunch each time I book a new client. This means I will go out to lunch alone, and that’s how I came to be dining alone at Taipei & Tokyo in Bedford. It was actually my solitary status that was the only negative of my dining experience here. The waiter and host weren’t quite sure what to do with a single woman, and sat me in the center of the main dining area, in easily the worst spot in the place. I asked to be moved and they were accomodating, and the rest of my visit was great. My food was delicious: I had hot & sour soup, their awesome wontons with spicy sesame sauce(HIGHLY recommend), and chicken with garlic sauce. Everything was delicious, and with the lunch special prices, it was affordable, too. I was very pleased with my experience and will return in the future, especially to get more wontons(yum!).
