Chens is the best and only Chinese food I will eat. Service is awesome! So clean and freshly. Their lomein is made with thin noodles and is the best ever. Their sushi is made right in front of you with the freshest ingredients and the display is beautiful. I drive 40 minutes when I want Chinese to go here. By far the best in NH.

Chen’s Garden is a wonderful restaurant. Being from NY originally, I am spoiled when it comes to great food. We tried nearly every Chinese restaurant in town, and this is by far the best. The service is excellent, the people are kind, and I am happy to have this golden nugget of a restaurant around! If the parking lot were larger, it would be fantastic… Parking is the ONLY negative. The competition doesn’t have a problem with congested parking for a good reason!

My girlfriend had been here before and suggested that we give it a try tonight. When we pulled in a customer’s battery had died so we helped out with a jump start. The cables that the customer had were too short but one of the employees came out with another pair. We went in and there was plenty of seating, we showed up around 5pm. Felix was our server and was nothing less than awesome. He was friendly, attentive and had a great sense of humor. Felix really made our dinner great .We had some sushi, Unagi and creamy crab, and a couple of the dinner dishes. Everything was great. I asked for my dish extra spicy and Felix hooked it up. We look forward to returning for another great meal. Gary & Kim

Food was okay, had a variety of dishes, rice we had shrimp and it was undercooked, and the chicken wings were tasteless. And the wonton soup well just blah, not overly impressed & place is rather small.

Chen’s is a real gem amongst the busy, ugly lanes of 2nd St. The restaurant stands out against the older, commercial buildings and houses that line the street. Inlaid with polished dark woods and soft lighting, the place has a timeless feel with only the barest hints of stereotypical Chinese restaurant furnishings. It’s clean and well maintained. The bar is well stocked with good liquors and half a dozen decent craft-beers on tap. With a consistently changing special roll menu, Chen’s has exuded some of the finest(if not best) sushi in the Manchester. The menu caters to a wider audience than just sushi lovers though with both Japanese and Chinese dishes. I visited here the other night and had the Bombay maki with a glass of excellent saki, a wholly satisfying experience. Chen’s is one of my staples and I imagine it will stay that way.

Great Atmosphere, large plates of food, service done by Chinese wait staff and they include a chef that makes sushi on the spot for you if desired. Prices are not bad and lunch specials are priced very well.

My husband and I love this place. We have tried both sushi and Chinese food here and it’s always a win. All ingredients are fresh. Nothing seems over cooked or greasy. They honor our request to never serve us anything fried! Service is fast and detail oriented. Yum!!!

Our ‘go-to place’ for Chinese food in our area. A VERY pleasant man typically takes our take out order and the food is excellent at ‘typical chinese food prices’. While we havent yet ‘eaten in’ vs take out, i was suprised at how ‘high end’ Chens is when ive picked up take out given the reasonable prices. We thankfully discovered Chens shortly after moving to the area!!!

The sushi is ok. But parking is horrible. I also do not like how they rush you in and out the door and stalk you the entire time you are eating as a reminder that they want you out, even when you are the only table occupied in the restaurant. The Chinese food is not that great either. My boyfriend got extremely sick after we ate here.

I’ve been here about once per month for the past two years. The various meals I and guests have enjoyed have consistently been over the top delicious, generous and delightfully presented. The staff are always pleasant and attentive! Pricing is fair.

My go to spot for sushi or Chinese food! I always order Buddah rolls. Love the cucumber rolls as well. Don’t eat sea food so can’t speak to any of that but my husband loves the king crab rolls and other things there. The drinks are dangerously good as well. Over all 2 thumbs up from me not cheap but worth the splurge.

My date suggested Chen’s for sushi Friday night. Nice little place with a large bar area. They had a big menu. The place was pretty full with it seemed like all locals. We ordered a baby octopus app. I liked it. my date not so much. everyone’s different. We got a sushi combo platter and some lo mein. The sushi was very good and the noodles were very fine ones. Just the way she liked it. All in all a great local place to spend some quality time with good company.

Called and ordered two sushi rolls and some steamed dumplings on New Year’s Day. Drove 20 minutes there and 20 minutes home to find out they’d given me the wrong order. Called them, was put on hold over and over again. Finally able to talk to someone and she told me to come back and she’d give me the right order. At this point it’d be over an hour in the car for sushi so I just asked to have my credit card reimbursed. She lady I talked to said she’d remember to do it before the end of the night. The next day the purchase had already gone through on my account. I called them to have this fixed and they claimed to not remember me calling the night before. Sure, maybe I should have gotten the women’s name I spoke with but k wasn’t assuming they’d try and cheat me out of my money. Will never eat from this place again

This is terrific Chinese food! We ordered at noon for a 630pm pickup on Christmas Eve, and although it took a bit longer to pick up our food(there seemed to be a snafu with how they were matching orders). The food was absolutely amazing! I cannot wait to return to Chen’s!

Food was pretty decent. presentation on some of the sushi plates walking by made me wish I ate the stuff. Got a suffering bastard(limit two).while it was reasonably strong, was not as strong as I would a hoped. tho weak by no means. wife and I got combination plates 1 @ 6. very good tho not mind blowing. but I’d def come complaints. The only reason I wouldn’t go 5 is because its not THE best I’ve ever had. that being said its a great value for the price and the staff is very friendly

We have eaten here twice and both times the food was very good to excellent. One of our guests(who eats here a lot) is particularly fond of the sushi. I did the soft shell crab appetizer and it was excellent. The crab Rangoon was also excellent. I tried the duck in plum sauce and it was very good, the meat was moist and the sauce very tasty. The service was very good although the place was packed after a concert at the Verizon Wireless Center. Parking sucks so worst case park across the street at one of the fast food restaurants and run across 2nd Avenue(good exercise!). One of the better Chinese/Japanese restaurants in Southern NH.

Food was pretty good. But the staff was disgusting. Not the bartender who was serving us. She was fine. But the staff that was sitting down to eat had horrible manners and was making disgusting noises. And then someone hocked up a loogie in the middle of the dining room and spit in the sink. Disgusting. Makes me not want to eat here again.

What happened? I used to really love this place, now it is barely average. I will still give it 5 stars for cleanliness but the food is nothing special. As a side note, stop having your kid sit in the front of the house slurping his soda constantly!!!

This was my third visit back and first two stops were good. Stopped in for a quick lunch at the bar. The general gau chicken came out chewy and pink. I brought it up to the bar waitress who told me it was cooked 3 times and super fresh. I sent it back and received a replacement plate. Had lost my appetite. There was frozen fish for sushi that was coming to temp from frozen out at room temp. The bar top wasn’t cleaned properly. Waitress wasn’t too helpful and argued with me about the doneness of the chicken.

I’ve been to Chen’s Garden a few times hoping the next time would be better. I found the food here to be okay and average. I’ve not been that impressed with the main dishes I had here relative to the other options for good Chinese food at reasonable prices in the Manchester area. I stopped here for lunch on the weekends and picked from the Chinese Luncheon Specials section, which are supposedly offered everyday until 3:00 pm, except some major holidays(I’ll assume Christmas, New Years, & Easter). On my last two dine-in visits before the most recent visit today, I ordered off the Chinese Luncheon Specials($ 7.95 each plus tax) and ordered the Beef with Mixed Vegetables and Chicken with Mixed Vegetables served with pork fried rice and choice of soup. The hot & sour soup was pretty good. The pork fried rice was also pretty good, which had a firm texture with a mix of onions, peas, & pork pieces. However, the beef with mixed vegetables was not exactly piping hot. The vegetables were fresh, but the pieces of beef were very soft and fatty. The chicken with mixed vegetables was slightly better than the beef entrée, but the chicken was soft and overcooked. The service on each visit was timely. I would give this place 2.5÷5.0 stars on the food and I was on the fence which way to round in the stars. I decided to head over to Chen’s Garden for lunch takeout this time, so I could order a deciding Luncheon Special to determine the rating. I arrived here around 2:52PM on a sunny Sunday afternoon and was ready to order lunch takeout at the side counter. I wanted to order a Chicken With Garlic Sauce Luncheon Special. but I was quickly told it was dinner only. I was also told I could order from the All Day Specials($ 9.45 each), but it was all fried items which I did not want. I also pointed to the menu, which stated Chinese Luncheon Specials were offered Sun 12:00 noon — 3:00 pm. I was then told it was Mother’s Day and it was dinner only all day. This was a WTF moment since it was just a normal day to me and my Mom is currently over 5,000 miles away from NH. I decided to walk out based on the principle(they don’t deserve my $$$). I ended up spending my $ 9.00 for lunch at a nearby pizza place. I will not be rounding up in this case as I do for many reviews.
