I can’t get enough of this place because I love the atmosphere so much. I have never had bad sushi rolls, avocado salad or miso soup here. It is all up to my standard. The sake is pretty good but the bottles don’t have those cute toppers to keep it warm. But it stays fairly warm. Take out is best to pick up yourself. Although they deliver fast they may forget the extras like most busy places. The service is pretty good, there are times when it’s really pretty bad for whatever reason. Sometimes it will take a while to get seated.(They may be particular about how many sit where.) The waitress leaves the area before she takes your drink order and doesn’t come back for a long time, for instance. But you should be able to catch another service member and they understand how to process your drink order. I never seem to take the sub-par service personally, so it has not affected my fondness for this place. The music is so awesome. Once they played Radiohead all night. I find it agreeable and enjoyable most times. I always have a great time here and it’s one of my favorites in the city.

Good food. Ordered in on a lazy day. The soup was decent. The General Tso’s chicken was a bit dry — but the flavors were good.

After looking at the reviews my expectations were fairly low, however I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of their sushi. I came shortly after 1pm on a Sunday and ordered the Sushi Regular. It arrived quickly and all the fish was fresh, the rice was warm and flavorful, and overall very good. My one complaint would be the lighting in the restaurant itself, it was so dark in there I wanted to go to sleep!

First off mini history of Thousand Crane. Was originally owned by Dave and Feng. The most curious owners I’ve come across. Service and food was always excellent went they were there. They opened another restaurant in Nashua and eventually sold off the Manchester location to new more tyrannical owners. For this trip we went on Dec. 25th and it was pretty slow. Only four other parties of 2 – 4 people in the restaurant. I’ve been here before under the new management and the service was always blah but food was good so didn’t care that much. This visit was special in that both the service and food were pretty bad. Got the Double Szechaun Delight which consists of General Tso’s Chicken and Walnut Shrimp. The Tso’s, or Gao’s, was always good here under either owner. The chicken, the crispiness and sauce all fell flat. The shrimp was eh as well. While the sauce was unexpected for walnut shrimp I liked it. But there was no crispiness as you’d expect in that dish — it was simply jumbo shrimp from the pu pu platter with sauce on it. We also had beef lo mein which was just ok. Typical American Chinese style whereas it used to be different noodles with a more original taste — again under either owner. Crab Rangoon is still good here if you like it a little sweeter and heavier on cream cheese than crab. Scallion pancakes were good but just like everyone else’s. For sushi we got the Alaskan King maki. This was still very good and the only redeeming dish of the night. Service: every time you walk in to this place you are greeted with a scowl. Someone is always giving you the stink eye. Then the waiter kind of does the same any time you ask for something. When we were asked by a different waitress if we were ready to order, we were not so she huffed and for some reason took the drink menu away. The waiter asked if we needed anything enough times but he was never happy about it. Go to Golden Tao on the West Side or venture to Crane Restaurant in Nashua. It’s worth the trip.

This review is for food Delivered to our hotel. I was pleasantly surprised how good the food was… on top of that it was delivered still fresh as if served in the restaurant. My favorite was the the Seafood Basket. Outstanding!!! Got lots of lobster and it contained scallops and shrimp. Perfectly stirfried. 5 stars! I also ordered their tofu and broccoli 4 stars nicely seasoned and beef tendon noodle soup, 3.75 stars. Broth was good but tendon was thin and a bit chewier than i like. Loved that they added spinach to the soup. The packaging was superb and my fried noodle basket for the seafood was package separately and arrived crispy and not crushed. Entrees arrived piping hot… no microwaving required. No spills or messes to clean up which is typical of many food deliveries. We are in NH area 5 – 12 days each month and now this will be our go to restaurant for delivery to our Manchester Airport hotel. Kudo.from a retired chef. Great job. Keep it up and we will be loyal customers.

I normally love this place and have eaten here many times. One of the items I ordered was the sexy girl roll, which I’ve had before. It was really chewy and the shrimp on top was hard, not fresh. I also ordered the shrimp pad thai and it came dry with no peanut sauce or anything. Very disappointing

The food here overall has always been very good. Their chicken wings in particular are great. We order from here even though we have a sushi restaurant a lot closer to us for this reason. However, tonight changed that and I don’t think we will ever order from them again… The website you order from states there’s a $ 3.75 charge for deliver. Anyone would assume a portion of not all of that charge goes toward the delivery driver am I right? Well then there’s a section for tip so being a generous person I decided to add something there too. Well I get a call from the delivery driver saying he doesn’t know where I live(which is a little crazy because it’s not a difficult area at all) and he starts questioning the tip amount. Furious, I waited until he got to my door to talk to him about how insulted I was that he would ever question a tip someone is giving you. There’s a reason it’s called a tip. In this case this guy shouldn’t have even expected one PERIOD. He continued to blabber on about how the delivery charge doesn’t go to him and how far away my house was when I know it only took him all of 7 minutes to get there once he left the restaurant. I honestly couldn’t believe how rude he was and it made me never want to order from there again. When I asked for his managers name he ignored me. This place needs to remember how important customer service is and how fast bad news travels.

Sushi is always very good, and they’re always very quick and efficient! Definitely a hidden gem in Manchester.

I didn’t have a great first experience with this place, but with a craving for scallion pancakes and a desire to stay in my apartment, I decided to give it another shot. Service was much better – the delivery driver was nicer and came faster than last time. And the food is good. I got some garlic beef(spicy!), sesame chicken, scallion pancakes, and fried dumplings. I don’t know if I’d personally get all these again, but I would recommend them to friends.

Small portions and expensive. Not great by any stretch of the imagination, do not get the chewy crab Rangoon. Will not return.

After placing an online order tonight I patiently waited for my delivery. To note, my particular apartment building has no doorbell so I indicated in the comment section to call my cell phone upon arrival. An hour later I hear this obnoxious horn blaring repeatedly outside my window and so I take a peek outside. A few moments later I get a call from thousand cranes main line. They mention the driver has been trying to call me repeatedly. So I head downstairs. At the door is a young man with my order and in the car, still blaring the horn mind you is another gentleman I presume who is doing the driving for the night. As I open the door he is screaming at me «get off your phone.» He goes on whilst screaming«we’ve been trying to reach you. get off your f**king phone.» At this point his behavior and choice of language is inappropriate. As I explained to the woman who called me from the main number no one had tried to call me. The young man at the door who seems uncomfortable with the behavior of his counterpart pulls out his phone. At this point, I had reached my boiling because here I was at the door and the other guy was still screaming at me to get off my phone and repeatedly saying that they were trying to get a hold of me. The young man at the door then says to me «is you number. 884-…» To which I reply that it isn’t. Obviously he must have typo-d the number because the restaurant was able to reach me and he hadn’t. I called thousand crane to complain about the driver and was told that Lee the manager was out of the country. This situation was completely unacceptable. Nothing further was done and when I suggested I was going to come in I was met with resistance. As a long time customer I refuse to come back and I’m going to let others know how disgusting their drivers behavior was.

Just ordered a variety of food from this place. None of it was remotely good. I don’t have the highest expectations for chinese take out but this was terrible. Not sure what part of the chicken they used for the general gau’s. I’m not really convinced it was meat. McDonald’s chicken nuggets would be a major upgrade over whatever it is they deep fried. It was like eating a sponge with tendons in it. Not that it matters at this point, but the portions were a joke for the price. Especially the tiny sushi roll we ordered for 13 $. Speaking of sushi, this was the worst sushi I’ve ever put near my face. Was not fresh and I’m shocked they served it. Gaged on the first bite and threw it away immediately. What they served tasted dangerous. The fish had a paste like texture and oozed out of the roll when I bit it. I feel sorry for any animal that digs this out of the trash I downloaded Unilocal and registered just to write this review. I hate thousand crane so much.

Thousand Crane seems to have stepped it up lately. A more recent visit during NH Eats week had them on their toes. The food is not going to blow you away, but it’s better than any other Chinese I’ve had on Elm St. and the sushi is quite good. I never see the same servers here, I don’t know the reason for this, but the owner and waitstaff were both present during the last visit and very personable. The prices also seemed to have been reworked on certain items for the better.

Pretty decent catch-all Asian restaurant. Solid, standard Chinese menu, small but decent Japanese and sushi menu, and a couple of Thai dishes thrown in for good measure. One complaint is that they will never, ever, split the bill. And they write it out in Chinese(except the Japanese menu items). Kind of difficult for us gaijin.

Visiting from the Boston area, I thought this place was great! My boyfriend and I had 2 entrees and 2 appetizers(with a coupon for a free app) and the bill was less than $ 30! We both thought the food was delicious… I ordered the sesame chicken which was a perfect portion. The crab rangoons and scallion pancakes were tasty. Glad we disregarded the mostly negative reviews and gave this place a chance. We’ll definitely be back.

The Mai Tai is strong and the best in town. I’ve been a fan of this restaurant(for their sushi) since moving to Manchester in 2009. I know when I come here that I will always, without fail, get delicious, solid sushi. It’s never presented too cold, it’s never chewy, and it always makes me smile. Is it fancy? No. Is it consistently good? YES. And if you get the sushi dinner that comes with a California roll, they’re very flexible about substituting a different roll for $ 1 extra or so. In addition to their usual sushi offerings, there’s also a(rather sloppily presented, I admit) list of specials you can see when you come in. You do have to get up from your table to go give them another read, but I have done that and was very glad I did; if you’re bored with the usual rolls, those are the fancy-fun ones. I brought my mother here once while she was visiting, and while she doesn’t eat sushi, she enjoyed her Chinese dinner(vegetable tempura) so much that we ended up eating here again later the same week!

I ordered three different types of maki and I found VERYLITTLE difference between them. That’s a bad sign in itself. I found the whole experience to be lackluster in general with bad service and bad food. This place used to be the go to for sushi. What happened? So disappointed.

Food: The sushi is fresh and I love the vegetable tempura. The fried rice could be better. seaweed salad is excellent also. I also enjoy the scallion pancakes. I would give it 4 stars but the fried rice needs work and to me thats a staple of an Asian restaurant. The fried rice must be done well. Service: The staff is very nice and attentive and the restaurant is nice and clean with great ambiance.
