Good, thanks for asking! This is a great mural right off the drag by UT. The artist is Daniel Johnston, whose art was once featured on a Kurt Cobain shirt. The history is murky, but the painting is awesome. Go take a selfie in front of it.
This is one of the many things that keeps Austin weird!

Love it, see it, just do it at least once. It’s an icon on its own and that it’s preserved and still up says something to its lasting influence (or nostalgia!)

This frog is holy. You must see it.

I can’t believe there is an actual Unilocal listing for this thing. I vaguely remember when this thing was first drawn while I was still in school. I used to walk past it everyday from class to west campus. And now people actually travel to austin to take pictures in front of it. Don’t get me wrong it is cute, and it is what makes Austin… Austin.

How it’s famous, I will never know but I’m sure it’s because it’s weird and it’s Austin! Definitely an Austin staple! If you’re visiting Austin, you should come by and get a photo with it! Sadly, some people have tried defacing the art a couple times so it doesn’t look old but now it’s got a nice crisp coat of paint! Nice for a quick stop!

The first time I saw you was on Kurt Cobain t-​shirt … we had a special connection from the start. I didn’t know where you were from or what was about you but I knew that we were destined to be together.
We met again at SXSW in 1999… my love for your grew. Like all love time made us stronger it brought us together and sealed something between us. I am afraid of frogs, horribly afraid of them. I could never fear you.
In 2005 I learned all of your dark secrets… I saw The Devil In Daniel Johnston and realized that you didn’t love me the way I loved you you couldn’t love me the same way. Silly Love.

‘Sup, frog? I’m awesome. How are you? You’ve been there quite a while. I’m so glad nobody’s painted over you. You make me smile even when I’m stuck in traffic on Guadapoop!

Always nice to be reminded I’m not alone by keeping it real in this busy city.

I went to elementary school right next to Jeremiah and remember back when he had friends… who have since disappeared. I’m glad he was saved and has his own little spot now.
As a child, after church I’d look out the window and this frog would cause me to smile. Some days I’ll drive past it now and still enjoy him.
He’s been there for quite some time– and I hope he’ll stay there forever.
And if you don’t have a t-​shirt with this lil guy on it, you need one– so get one. Also, taking pictures with him is a must.

I’d almost forgotten about this cute frog.
My usual urban routes home from downtown have turned into traffic-​choked disasters due to road construction. So I find myself using Guadalupe Street again, and seeing Jeremiah, Austin’s best loved amphibian.
In addition to making me happy, Jeremiah is also helping me be a better driver. Instead of running yellow lights at that intersection, I actually stop for them because it gives me more time to look at this adorable icon.

This world-​famous frog makes a great t-​shirt. Kurt Cobain said so, and who am I to disagree?
It’s a wonderful piece of public art and hopefully will be with us for many years to come. Long Live Jeremiah The Innocent!

As much a part of Austin as the inimitable SRV, this happy frog named «Jeremiah the Innocent» was drawn by the somewhat spotty, somewhat brilliant singer/​songwriter/​artist Daniel Johnston.
Kurt Cobain was the most prominent Johnston fan to don Jeremiah the Innocent. He wore a «Hi, How Are You» t shirt to the 1992 MTV Video Music Awards.
Driving by this big crazy amphibian always puts a smile on my face and a spring in my step. Jeremiah was in some danger of being demolished when Austinites stepped in to «Save The Frog». Thanks to their efforts, Jeremiah the Innocent sits happily on his urban lilypad, saying «Hi! How are you?» to visitors year round.
