Very Good Food! We had a ‘Thai how are you’ sushi roll, Pad Thai and Red Curry. All three dishes were wonderful. Very distinct flavored. The service was attentive and quick. Top Ratings for this cute restaurant!

Ok, mediocre. Walked in and it smelled like brisket. Got the Pad See Ewe and it was alright. First couple bites pretty good, then just went meh from there.

Location is excellent(right near campus), and the name is clever and cute with corresponding graffiti. I am a Thai snob, so I will say that I’ve had better panang curry elsewhere. However, I did enjoy this place and would recommend to visitors looking for a quick, yummy bite before exploring.

Because of the proximity, I have tried many of their dishes here, including my usual Thai favorite of Pad Kee Mao. Of these 5 – 10 times I’ve visited here, the food has always been mediocre. The dishes were good, but they lack the wok hei(the intense smokey flavor from high heat wok cooking) that most other Thai food places offer. Their price to quantity also wasn’t what I was expecting. Many times I was not full afterwards. The staff has always been friendly to be though.

3.5 stars but gonna round up to 4. During my newbie years at UT, my friends and I would frequent Thai How Are You because of their convenient location and tasty bento box specials. Their bento boxes are decently priced, and come with your choice of entrée, salad, three pieces of California roll, egg roll, and a small dessert of some kind(usually fruit or occasionally boba chacha). Their pad see eww is tasty but if you’re looking to get strictly a pad see eew entrée and not the bento box, you’re probably better off at Madam Ma’ms down the drag. They also offer a selection of sushi rolls which is nice when you’re craving sushi or just want something light instead of Thai food. Service is usually good, and the food has always been consistent. Check the chalk board at the top of the back wall for specials and drink specials.

The kitchen here is SUPERSLOW. We came during normal dinner hours on a Wednesday and there was an average amount of people in the restaurant(maybe 1/3−½ full). We wanted to go somewhere close to campus because we had somewhere to be but we ended up having to take our food to go because it took so long to come out. Two of the members of our group ordered bento boxes and it took them 30 minutes just to bring out the Miso Soup. It took another 30 minutes for them to bring out any of the other dishes. The food here was average. I ordered a chicken pad kee mao and replaced the broccoli with bok choy. The food wasn’t bad but I’ve definitely had better. If you walk just a little further down Guadalupe, you can have much better food at madam maams(and the portions are bigger there too). I think the only thing worth getting here is their bento boxes because it’s a really good deal(a lot of food for $ 10.50). Also, the $ 2/beer during happy hour is not bad deal either. The only reason I rated this three stars instead of two is the attitude of the waitress. She was very nice, refilled our water pretty often, and seemed very apologetic about how long it took for the food to come out. Bottom line: If you’re a UT student looking for a quick bite to eat, I wouldn’t come here because it’s definitely not quick and the food is just average.

This place is so good. Its on rotation for our lunch delivery service at work and a lot of my co-workers love this place as well. I always order the pumpkin or yellow curry, my co-workers swear by the Pad Thai. The curry is enough food to last 2 – 3 meals which is awesome! Definitely recommend this place.

So underrated! Amazing happy hour & sushi. And they actually have good sushi on the happy hour menu. 10⁄10 would recommend for college students

Named for the famous«Hi, How Are You?» mural gracing the side of the building, this restaurant serves up an unusual combination of Thai food and sushi. While I haven’t tried the sushi, the Thai offerings are comparable with other other places on The Drag although a little more expensive. I opted to try the Gaeng Pla(Jungle Curry) with Chicken, which boasts the highest spiciness rating in the menu and a description of «hot like the sun.» After convincing the waitress that I didn’t want it watered down at all, I immediately began to regret my decision. Fortunately my fears were unfounded and I was able to consume the delicious dish despite the heat. The serving size was fairly substantial and warranted another bowl of rice to finish. In retrospect, I probably should have just saved it for another meal. Service was very friendly and prompt, although there was literally no one else in the restaurant at the time. I appreciated the waitress leaving a pitcher of water on the table so she didn’t have to keep refilling my glass. The Bento Boxes look like a really good deal and I’ll probably try one the next time I visit.

This place was excellent! We stopped here during our travels to grab a bite to eat. The service was very prompt and knew the menu well. We ordered the green curry and red curry plate and could not have been happier with our food. The spices were amazing!

This had to be some of the worst food I’ve ever had. The Tom Kha soup, literally, had no flavor. The escolar was disgusting, extremely chewy and fishy. The dessert I ordered wasn’t even in the bag. Even the soy sauce has to be the cheapest brand made. I actually threw everything away and made a grilled cheese sandwich. Just what I wanted to do. Come home and throw a $ 50 bill straight into the trash can. Thanks so much.

Let me tell you, the worst place in the world to have customer service is a Thai restaurant. Seriously when a place serves spicy food, you got to have the sense to check up on them to see if they want water. Also there was a while middle aged waiter that looked like he did not want to be there at all. Food wise, it was decent. I had better for that price. I will definitely not come again.

I’ve been here several times, and the food is OK but the service is not so okay. Their portions are smaller than Madam Mam’s…and Madam Mam’s tastes better in my opinion. I won’t ever have a craving to go to this establishment; I usually only go when my friends have decided on this place. When I am here, I usually get their Pineapple Fried Rice Bento Box($ 10.50). It comes with miso soup, three California rolls, an eggroll, salad, your entrée of choice, and tapioca or fresh fruit(always get the tapioca IMO). I usually get bento boxes when I come here because I think you get the most for your money. For me, this usually lasts me two meals. I barely touch the entrée and to-go it! On my most recent visit, I decided to try their Pad See Ew Bento Box. Big mistake. It was the most watery Pad See Ew I have ever had, and I was pretty disappointed. It was drenched in some kind of liquid, and last time I checked, this was not supposed to be a wet noodle dish. If it’s happy hour(4−7pm), I usually get the Princess sushi roll instead of the bento box. I think it’s either $ 5 or $ 7. It’s decent sushi(better than Oishi lol) and at a decent price DURINGHAPPYHOUR. I like the Princess roll because it has some chunks of apple! It’s unique, and surprisingly, tastes good in sushi.(You may feel differently). Lastly, their dessert is pretty good. If you get those coupon books they usually pass out to students in the beginning of the year, you can find«Free Dessert» coupons to Thai, How Are You. I love their fried banana with ice cream! It’s a generous portion of ice cream(I usually pick green tea yum) with things that look like mini eggrolls. They are NOT eggrolls lol, they are bananas wrapped in eggroll wrapping? But it’s crunchy and warm and tastes great with the cold ice cream! One is big enough to share for 2 – 3 people. Sometimes I come here JUST for the dessert, and I have been given some rude looks from waiters, but hey… I come to eat what I want to eat! Service: Yes, this sucks. One time I came with a friend and the restaurant was kind of empty… yet our food took forever. Even paying our bill took forever. Now every time I come here, I always try to order ASAP because who knows how long it takes to leave? Also, another time our waiter never came to refill our water. she was MIA and we were thirsty. There is this one waiter – I don’t know if he’s still there – but he is the best LOL. He will come by so often and refill your water even if it was only down by one quarter. I found his hard work endearing. Bottom line: Food is average, slightly overpriced, and service sucks. Fried bananas with ice cream is good. Happy hour sushi is decently priced and tastes good.

When I was a student at UT(Dark Ages alert!), this building housed a record store(aka vinyl), and the weird frog graphic asking, «Hi, How Are You?» on the side of the building was new. Kudos to this Thai restaurant for incorporating the iconic graffiti art into its name. Maybe it won’t be painted over with something generic and tasteless. Incidentally, the food, and the restaurant, are anything but generic and tasteless. The décor is modern, clean, and artsy, with a tile mosaic dragon snaking down the entire length of the restaurant wall opposite the wall of windows. There are enough tables and booths so you have a good chance of actually being able to sit down and enjoy your meal there instead of taking it to go. The menu is comprehensive, with a full array of curried dishes, noodle and rice bowls, bento boxes, and sushi. My favorite so far is the Pad Thai noodle bowl, loaded with vegetables and just the right amount of spicy. The Pad Thai bento box is a nice variation, which also includes a green salad, miso soup, and sushi. The curry dishes are tasty as well. My husband has tried several and shared, at least a little bit. Fried banana with green tea ice cream is my favorite of their desserts so far. A full bar adorns the back of the restaurant, and they offer daily happy hour drink and appetizer specials. The husband and I have only hit them up in the late afternoon/early evening hours on our way to UT-area events, looking more like parents of UT students than alums, I’m sure. But service has always been prompt and polite, and we’ve never had to wait long for a table. This seems like a popular lunch spot for the UT crowd, and prices are reasonable. It’s become my go-to food spot when in the campus area.

Thai, How are you is the one restaurant with the weird alien frog spray painted on the outside of the wall. People usually just take the picture there and move on, but I decided to stay and eat. It’s a mixture before thai and japanese food. So my boyfriend and I ended up ordering coconut shrimp, pad neu maw(? beef dish), cat eye(sushi roll), and the pad kee maow bento box. On the whole menu, I think the bento box is the most worth it. It comes with 1 soup and salad, 3 pieces of California roll, 1 vegetable eggroll, salad with ginger dressing, and a choice of tapioca with coconut cream or a fresh fruit cup. The beef dish was nothing special. On the whole dish there was probbably only 6 – 8 pieces of slightly overcooked meat. Luckily, it was my boyfriend’s dish and he did not mind at all. My bento box was decent, on the menu it was described as extremely spicy. But when I ate the noodles, all that was spicy in the dish was the few jalapenos thrown into the stir fry. It did not taste spicy at all, and it was not that amazing. The vegetable eggroll was extremely skinny and the salad was skimpy and sad. Only the California roll was well made and packed full of ingredients, but only 3 pieces made it extremely boring. Our appetizer, the coconut shrimp was freshly fried with fresh shrimp. When you dump it into the sauce it was so amazing. We ordered the cat eye when we realized that all the food before was not fulfilling enough. The cat eye came in 11 cut rolls, and it took a little while longer because it is fried salmon inside with cream cheese. If you come here, i think the Japanese food would be a lot more worth it than the thai food.

First time here and was thoroughly disappointed. We were sat down quickly and our order was taken but it took twenty minutes to bring out two orders of pad thai. Which is incredibly ridiculous considering I worked at a restaurant that would sell pad thai, and we were able to whip it out in 5 minutes. We also showed up at 4pm so there was essentially no one there. It was inexcusable. The food was also pretty nasty. I hate wasting food so I ate most of it but it was hard for my soul to down those noodles. Seating is nice and restaurant is well decorated. Service was very mediocre and doesn’t deserve much recognition. Three stars because my sister is a regular here but my experience was a solid two.

Love shrimp spring roll! Must try! Also, pad kee mao – tasty! What I like the most is their coconut ice cream with the sticky rice.

The food is amazing, and I wish I could say the same for the service. When my fiancé and I first moved to Austin last year, this was one of our first food stops. We fell in love and wanted to return. Ever since, the service has really gone downhill. One time, it took us 30 minutes just to order drinks. HOWEVER the manager is always apologetic and the food is impeccable(I love the cream cheese rolls).

Service isn’t great and it’s pretty slow, but as long as you come in expecting it, I think it’s worth it. Love love love the pad Thai and recently had a trip where I hesitantly ordered the cheese rolls — my waiter told me I could send them back if I didn’t like them and was totally friendly about that possibility. They ended up being delicious. Can’t speak to if this is authentic thai or not, but it’s always my go to for pad thai! NOTE: summer hours have changed and they’re only open until 8 on weekdays!

The best Thai food in town, first time here looks like they more focused on UT students but I absolutely loved it, will be back just for the food. Ordered basil fried rice and pad Thai spicy(5 out of 5) perfect spicy. Service was excellent as well.

I normally don’t wonder into west campus to eat because I don’t care to be around a bunch of college kids and school spirit bullshit but I was with friends and The Clay Pot was closed. We were seated quickly and since we were all starving, we ordered quickly as well. I got the bento box with Pad Kee Mao. The bento boxes are a great deal because you get a three piece California roll, miso soup, a salad, vegetable egg roll and a desert. The soup came out first and was a very decent portion which was not what I was expecting. When the food came it was very appealing to the eyes, all laid out of a try with separate boxes for each food item. The noodles were spicy just the way I like them and the sushi was very tasty. The vegetable egg roll was small but tasted very good and for desert I got the fruit cup. Being the fun loving alcoholic I am I checked out the Happy Hour and noticed that from 4 – 7 all beers are $ 2 which is awesome and you can get sake bombs for $ 5. The place was nice, eating outside is loud but it’s a great location to people watch. I hope this place sticks around since I’ve seen multiple restaurants in this location crash and burn. All in all I would definitely come back.

Meh. That pad thai was weird with grilled onions galore. Yucky yucky. I picked out what little chicken and two pieces of broccoli was in it. Blah. The mini and I mean mini egg rolls were good! Zach had some kicking kicks. EYNO. I’m not blind. I asked my friend is this grilled onions? Yes! I know the difference between green and white grilled. Yes there was green onions but also weird grilled too. If it was not that then I don’t want to know what it was but I picked it out. Just strange and tasted like grilled onions. So I don’t know. ODD as hell. I don’t ever send food back! =)

Meh. Both times I’ve been here I’ve been underwhelmed. I ordered the vegetarian fried rice bento box. They promise sushi with it and an egg roll. Okay. Cool. They bring out a sushi roll that isn’t vegetarian. I ask for them to switch it to a veggie roll and they say it is not an option to do that. This means one of two things: 1) they don’t make their sushi fresh and instead just have California rolls at the ready for the bento boxes. 2) they do make their sushi fresh they are just unwilling to provide provide a cheaper sushi roll(one without crab meat and just the veggies inside a California roll) because they don’t care as much. Food was alright. Service was clearly terrible. Around 11 bucks for the meal.

Came here cause a friend posted a picture of their sushi bowls. Of course I had to try it cause we wouldn’t want a sushi bowl?! They’re literally sushi except no seaweed. We came in around lunch time and my bf and I both ordered the salmon and spicy salmon bowl. It came with avocado, tempura flakes, wasabi, ginger and a whole lot of rice. For $ 12, it wasn’t worth it because our rice to salmon ratio was poor. Also, you get tired of it after a couple bites because they give you so much rice. Also sushi quality isn’t the best. Their miso soup was pretty good though. Also their appetizer spring rolls aren’t bad either. The rolls could’ve been wrapped tighter so when we eat it wouldn’t fall out so easily, but the ingredients were right on and their peanut sauce is pretty good too. I’ll be coming back during happy hour, but not for their bowls again.

Shrimp Spring Rolls were so refreshing and delicious! The peanut sauce was so good with a surprising kick! Thai, How Are You Roll is a great signature roll and that spicy sauce on the side is good to dip literally anything in! I will definitely be back here for more sushi and to try out their Thai food as well! Super«Keep Austin Weird» place and I hope it stays in this location for awhile!

I’m not sure if this place just changed its name of went through a new management process, but I formally knew it as Thai Spice. I’ve actually eaten a Thai Spice before, and I thought the food was okay, but the service was straight up AWFUL. So, after that terrible experience, I never went back. But just because they did change their name, I thought I would check it out, and it was a little more crowded than I remember with a lot more customers. I had the Pad Kee Mao, and it was pretty good. I thought the portion could have been a little bigger at the price I paid. The only thing that makes me rate this place a three is that the service is still not that great. The waitresses took a long time to get out food out and give us the check. They also aren’t that friendly to you and are actually sort of brisk and cold. I’ve just never had a really good eating experience whenever I visit here.
