I realize this may be a local favorite and that this can sometimes run counter to foreigners with different palates But I’m going to suggest foreigners proceed with caution here First, there is a huge smoking/dining area. They tried to seat us here without even mentioning it. The service was friendly and helpful, till it wasn’t. The potato soup was delicious, but I wish we had stopped there The two main courses were inedible. And for 200+ dkk each I would have expected better. The waiter described the vegetarian as saffron rice with asparagus which seemed pretty basic for 235dkk. I’m not a fan of cod so when I ordered the plaice fish. it is huge but is basically a full bone fish deep fried. The inside was slimy and the outside semi crisp. The potatoes were good, I wish there were more so I could have made a meal of it. The Danish hash my companion ordered was more like a stew and he said you couldn’t really tell between the meat and potatoes All in all I wish we had gone someplace else. Having said all this the locals who were eating here seemed to be quite enjoying themselves.

I have been to Grøften 3 times now. Of those 3 times I have sent my food back to the kitchen 2 times. Once a steak way over cooked. Second time a really bad wienerschnitzel. The food also comes after very few minutes which is not okay for the price you pay. If it was not situated in tivoli this restaurant would not exist. Go and enjoy tivoli, the beautiful garden and all the rides, and then go have dinner somewhere else.

We went here for lunch on a high recommendation. One of the Danish traditions is to enjoy herring and schnapps, which we tried here along with other open faced sandwich staples. For those not in «the know» you first start with the herring and schnapps. Once you’ve had that you then move on to the fried fish(more herring?). After that it’s free game. Eat what you’d like. I never felt like more of an American after I filled my plate with everything(and I mean everything) before being told the«order of operation». It’s a neat tradition that everyone should try and enjoy. What are you waiting for? Hopefully this review will save you the embarrassment I had!

Way overhyped… The servers were rude and the recommended food was simply disgusting. He could not explain what the fish of the day was and made no effort to try and find out what the dish was. I was recommended to eat some sort of fried fish(some popular item he said that many others enjoyed). The dish was disgusting, bland and not worth it. My friend’s dishes(Lobscous and lamb shank) were also not up to par with the price and service. Please go somewhere else to eat.

Was here for julefrokst with some colleges just before Christmas. This was my first visit to Gröften and also my very first julefrokost :-) The place was packed to the very limit. Me and another college arrived a bit after than the rest(12 people in all) and we couldn’t almost reach our seats and whenever somebody at the table behind moved slightly you got an arm or an elbow in you. The julefrokost was nice, assortments of danish delishious smörrebröd and different toppings. I like the way that they served the julefrokost, on trays of different levels. The risalamand(spelling is prob wrong) was absolutely fantastic, was the highight of the evening. The place was decorated in a fantasiic way, not sure if the entire decoration was just for Christmas or if it was regular.

Everyone pays to eat here as you have to get i to Tivoli first., amy older generations will gladly do that whether by season pass or normal admission as they can get the food of their youth. Grøften serves the food of tradition. Our server. Martin was awesome in that he helped us pick some dishes and also explained the traditions behind them. Roast beef smørrebrød, mashed potatp/bacon/chive/beetrot, and an aquavit for safe measure. Ecerything was delicious. This was knowing i had dinner resys coming up. Maybe one of the few places in town that you can get solid examples of traditional Danish lunch and dinner. 4.3 stars

Great atmosphere, bustling and colorful with local people and cuisine. We loved the attention to detail that Morten M provided. The food we ordered was colorful and tasty. Your couldn’t leave hungry. This restaurant is for the traditional and the creative eater. Thanks for the adventure!

My husband and I ate dinner here while visiting Tivoli Gardens. We LOVED the pickled salmon appetizer with Rye bread and spicy mustard sauce. It was so yummy that we ordered 2! We also had the cheese plate which was great. I ordered the tomato soup which was tasty, and my husband had the fish of the day which was some kind of Bass, and he enjoyed it. We also had a bottle of white wine. Everything was delicious. Our waiter, Martin, was amazing. Incredibly personable, friendly, and happy to recommend items to us. Definitely ask for Martin. Next time we return to Copenhagen, we will be sure to go back to Groften for the open face sandwiches! I highly recommend this place.

This is a very nice restaurant in the Tivoli. Very comfortable athmosphere inside. Heating-lamps make it warm when the weather outside is wet and cool. The variegated menu let’s everybody keep smile. The meals are very delicious and the service is well. You can spend here a nice time with friends, family or colleagues.

Meine Empfehlung: Dyrlaege’s Nadmad(Tierarzts Nachtessen).
