We got incredibly lucky to stumble on this restaurant after getting in on the train Friday night. It’s a little hidden underneath street level, but once you’re inside it’s the image of a great Danish family restaurant. The food was insanely good(and complemented by a really nice Acorn beer of the month) and filling. The service was terrific and friendly. Definitely the right way to start our visit.

Incredible authentic Danish food. Hyper competent waiter that also gave us free liquor from his hometown. Highly recommended!

Food is decent. Beware families with children over 12 who are light eaters: this restaurant has a «policy» against splitting plates — everyone must order something.

After our somewhat acceptable meal we were hit with a 40DKK surcharge for two pitchers of tap water(4 small glasses each)…about $ 7. The manager just smirked when I questioned this. No warning, but they charge for water if anyone doesn’t order a drink. Avoid this place; you won’t miss much! Total bill without water was 587DKK($ 100 or so). Not enough spent I guess…

We ate at the outside patio. Our main course was served first we got the salad. Never got any bread while waiting for our food when other tables got theirs. Waitress never came back to check if we need anything else, or we need more wine. After we’re done we have to call their attention to pick up the plates. The place was not really busy. Very very bad service.

For my birthday me and a few colleagues went for a open top sandwich(smorrebrod) lunch at Frk Barners Kælder. We arrived around noon and saw virtually NO other guests there — I always take that as a bad sign, but my colleagues reassured me that it was still pretty and others would join us later. Right there were, for people started rolling in from 12.30 and onwards. One thing you need to remember about this place is that it is VERY traditional — a fact that is mirrored by the +55 year old cliental. We all went for the butter fried plaice with large shrimps and home made remoulade — very good plaice indeed and well prepared. The remoulade could have had a bit more edge, but it was decent. For seconds, we went for the potato sandwich with bacon(mine was without) and roast pork with pickled red cabbage and cucumber salad. The potatoes were GOOD — nothing’s better than new Danish potatoes. The roast pork that my colleague had was apparently quite good, but the red cabbage was overcooked and bland. As for the cucumber salad, I tried it and have had better. All in all, I would for sure come back for the potatoes, shrimps and plaice — and if they manage to improve the pickles and other side dishes I might even give it the 4th star!

Been here twice — the first time on a guys night out with all we could eat«Stegt Flæsk» and a lot of beer. That was enjoyable. But the next time where we ordered from the menu, I was not impressed, and it even seemed overpriced for what we got. Known as a fun place for traditional food, but overpriced and overrated

Nice cozy place for decent danish traditional food. Waiter are friendly but offen buzy. The«Stegt Flæst» is not all a big enough potion IMO, and if you ask for more you have to pay extra :(

Went there with my girlfriend to get some real Danish food. We were not impressed. My girlfriend ordered salmon which was basically a piece of salmon some green garnishes and potatoes. And those asparaguses the menu told us about. Well she had more pieces of lettuce than asparagus. I ordered stew, there was nothing wrong with the taste, but it just felt like some pieces of meat dropped in a paprika sauce. I could have ordered the meat alone. On the positive side there was the large beer 0,75 liters which was very delightful. So this review might seem harsh, the food was ok, but with those prices we expected more than just food we might as well cook ourselves at home. If you want traditional Danish, I suggest going somewhere else.
