Casual pub… beer and whiskey. Great Irish breakfast served all day long.

What can I say, POOR!!! Management with attitude!!! Toilets, hold your breath before entering, music, what music, take your own!!! Location, forget the view & clean surroundings! Much nicer Irish bars around, at cheaper prices!!! This bar is a small fish in a big pond, owner needs to take note, won’t be back!

Had a fantastic burger and my wife had a great Caesar salad but the service just totally lacked. The two working the pub seemed more interested in listening to someone sitting on the stool than taking care of the guests who are not regulars. That is the best way I can describe it. Is most likely a great little place, but I caught them on an off night.

Johnny what have you done? Removing the red outer wall and red door is such a disgrace. You have lost the authentic feel and have caved to the superficial glass look that is like every other bar in the city. Shame.

I had the pleasure of spending a couple of hours here recently, the bar has a very authentic feel to it without being cheep and tacky, the bar staff were very friendly and the barman was only too delighted to engage in conversation. The best thing about this pub was the care taken to ensure the drink the customer ordered arrived in perfect condition, I ordered the Guinness and it was pure perfection. I also ordered a portion of wings and they were tasty enough but could have been crispier. All in all it was a very pleasant experience and I would have no problem recommending this bar as it ticks all the boxes.

I like their Sunday dinner special(if they still have it). My go to are yorkies, pacho, and fish and chips. Guenness and black and snake bite are my faves in terms of drinks. They used to have really good brownie desert long long time ago before the new(not new any more) management decided to update their menu. Too bad. Servers were way nicer before though ever since the not too new anymore management things are bit different now. Bit disappointed on that. Live music is good. Please don’t turn into sports bar.

A group of 7 people, Saturday night At 7.30pm on Granville St. We thought it would be crowded as usually but no. We got a table and ordered some beers the environment was good. We ordered diff kind of beers, also with cider and some snacks as of 9 pm(5 $ each). Good service and the sayings on the menu were fun. This is a 3&1/5.

WHAT? Thanks to Dan J. for recommending us to come drop by here a couple nights ago. WOW. I could not believe there are still good places to go to in the middle of the night to grab food and sober up for the night. I love how the bardtender is a hottie, and the place is comfortable and extremely welcoming! We had to get these amazing little yourkies. They were delicious! Tons of meat and a perfect way to end off a drinking night. Thanks to Dan J for bringing us here, and for sure I will be dropping by again for another one of those drinking nights. :3

I love this place. First time I went here was New Year’s morning. The man who served us was joyous and happy. Sat down and talked to everyone and you could tell that he enjoyed his job. The omelette we had was great too. The second time we went there I got the chicken burger and the fries are AMAZING! The best fries in downtown. No questions asked. Ended up bringing my friends there a month back and we all loved our food. Again, the fries did not let us down. Love the atmosphere and the food is great.

Tradicional irish pub but definitely not the best in town we ordered a couple of drinks and they both came in dirty glasses even one with a bug inside. Maybe it was bad luck for us but if thats your first impression it’s difficult to decide to order food or even come back.

We showed up when the place was empty and ordered two Black and Tans. The bartender poured them, and then decided to stir them together, never seen that done before, and I will tell you that it totally changed the taste of the drink. As for the food, I ordered the fish and chips which were delicious and the wife ordered the cottage pie. The cottage pie was under spiced dramatically, but after adding a lot of salt, it went down well.

Sketchy outside but comfortable and friendly inside with good beer, nice service and tasty pub food. Had live music tucked away in the front corner and the game on which was very cool.

Decent selection of beers and a fun Irish themed live band make for a good time here. The place is small and dimly lit which works well for what it is.

I felt like going to a pub for supper tonight. Johnnie Fox’s Irish Snug was just a couple blocks from my hotel so I thought I’d check it out(it got 4⁄5 stars on Unilocal). It’s not a big place and it was crowded … I liked the vibe. There was Celtic music playing, then Flogging Molly started looping(I love Flogging Molly!). I was craving wings and ordered them hot with Ranch sauce. There were 13 to a serving. They were small and overcooked … I wouldn’t order them again. So I liked the pub and would go back for a pint or two, I wouldn’t get the wings again.

Mac and Cheese fever? Go and grab one at Johnnie Fox’s Irish Snug. Great comfort food. I love the décor. Well located. Good service. The music is loud. But just right. I love their beer.

I came in here yesterday for the first time even though it’s been on my «to go» list for quite some time. I was waiting outside(being yelled at by the street cleaner for having dreadlocks and wearing patchouli) for this place to be open, as I’d shown up ~8 minutes early. Naturally when the doors were open it was pretty dead. 11:30am on a Tuesday morning? Definitely not a gin and burgers day for everyone. My waiter, Jared, was super friendly off the fly and immediately made myself and my lunch guest feel more than welcome. We were all able to chat and it was all very comfortable and natural and I really didn’t feel like he a) wanted to kill us for coming in the second he opened and b) wasn’t rooting for the best possible tip.(I gave 25% anyway, so if he was rooting, he did a good job ;)) Did I mention he was good looking? Yes. Anyhow, onto the food. I ordered the Guiness burger with fries and a side of gravy, as per his suggestion. Nailed it. The gravy was awesome and even though I was sooooo full I kept eating my fries just to get more. The burger was really good as well, though *if* I didn’t prefer my meat well done, I think it could have been slightly overcooked. I’m not sure if this is usual practice, so maybe if you prefer your burger more on the juicy side you should request that it’s not quite as well done. That way you get what you want and you won’t need to bitch about it here later. I warned you! This is a place I’ll be back to pretty soon. Maybe tomorrow. Any grabbers? Haaa.

For every pub in Vancouver that claims to be Irish, this little Snug is probably the most authentic one. You’re not going to find all those Granville street hosers hanging out in here, cuz it’s not a sportsy/Donnelly/flashy/trashy/girls-in-tshirts-and-heels-that-can’t-walk-and-barf-on-the-sidewalk kinda pub, it’s a SNUG! Who doesn’t like a snug? I want to wear my Snuggie to the Snug so we can Snuggle! Right?! This place has the alternative feel of the Morrisey without being so trendy. You want to eat bangers and colcannon, yorkshire puddin or shepard’s pie — this place has it. You want to listen to the Pogues, they played it. You want to watch sports on a TV, yea they have that too. This place is great, it’s just a shame its on Granville street.

Small, loud and not to be messed with, Jonnnie Fox’s is just like Ireland. With room for 10 at the bar and max of around 50, it’s small quarters are made for friends. Both the ones you walk in with and those you leave home with. Throw in hearty pub fair and you’ve got yourself a bar to hit on the way out, mid crawl or the last stop before the room spins. Smithwicks, Harp, Gunness, Strongbow on tap and a full bar, this is all you need. Well, maybe not but it will certainly keep you going. The back end offers 2 huge booths that could be combined. Ha. Like you have that many friends… who would spend time with you. Slide in anyway and make your presence known. Well done and thanks for the pint!

Well you coulda fooled me! I walked in and thought I was in a different city. This certainly looks like a pub that has been here for ages, even though it hasn’t. It has the appearance of the old Rose and Thorn meets the old Irish Heather. Without the smoke. Cozy, dark, and filled with happy people. Just the way a pub should be. Serving the usual Irish beer on tap, and a hearty-looking pub menu which I look forward to reviewing after my next visit. Hopefully U2 won’t be playing. :-) Grab a few friends or more, grab a booth, have a proper pint of Guinness or Smithwicks, and see why it’s called a Snug.
