«UGG» is what I say when I look at the prices of these boots! Holy thermal underwear, Batman! $$$ The UGG store opened last month just across from the Windsor Arms. I’m not much of an UGG fan but I wandered over to take a look. They actually have quite a lot of nicer looking boots, not just the crappy teenager ones I associate UGG with. Some of the boots were priced at $ 600 a pair, so they are definitely not cheap! Store layout is very nice and lots of friendly staff on-hand despite lack of customers. Hopefully they have good sales!

FTR! woot! I happened across this newly opened stand alone UGG boutique(4 days old!) on my way to Theatre Books and came in for a peek. Personally, I am not a huge fan of these boots… I think they make one’s feet look unflatteringly large, they were made for Australian surfers and not for Canadian winters, and I associate them with teeny-boppers. But, I do own a pair of their boots — not their signature style, but a different more winter-friendly kind — and the sheepskin lining is sooo comfy and warm. Their slippers looks super-cozy too for wearing around the house, although at $ 150 for a pair, I think I’ll stick with my Old Navy ones… Anyways, the Bay flagship recently opened an UGG section but this is to my knowledge, the first stand alone shop in Canada. It’s located in the old m0851 shop(fear not, m0851 is moving to a new location on Avenue Rd. near Yorkville), which is pretty spacious. The shop is warm and fuzzy… literally, there are furry throws, carpets, and pillows all over the place. Staff are bright-eyed and bushy-tailed, offering shoppers water or espresso(I didn’t partake as I didn’t think I’d stay in the store that long). The selection is vast, and I was surprised they had a lot of sleeker styles — wedges, heels, clogs in addition to their usual boots. In addition to footwear, they have some jackets, handbags, and beautiful shearling gloves. There’s mens and childrens stuff too. A must for any UGG fans, and even if you’re not, it’s worth dropping in – some of the stuff is not«typical UGG». Or just go for a free espresso: P
