I have some mixed feelings about this place but in what counts(namely the food) they do seem to deliver. FOOD On my visit, I tried their Slow Top sandwich with a side of fries. Admittedly, I thought the ‘slow’ would mean the meat would be a little more rare and not as overly cooked as it was but it was still tasty. The side of fries were also pretty good. VALUE On the plus side, I find the prices of the sandwiches pretty decent for what you get(again, based on what I tried) and the cost of adding a side of fries to your sandwich is less than the price of the standalone fries on their menu. SERVICE To put it frankly, they seem to have more demand than they can handle at lunch time. Upon our arrival at 12 noon on a week day, we had to wait 20 minutes for our sandwiches. A friend who arrived a bit later(12:15) had hers ready in only 10 minutes. People calling in orders for takeout were told 30 minutes so keep that in mind. LOCATION From the inside of things, Robz could use a lot of work. Currently, half the restaurant is the cooking and prep area, the other half is seemingly empty and the patrons need to wait at the front of the restaurant waiting for their food. And on a sunny day, since they have no blinds on their windows, you can really bake in there. For a place that has been open for over 2 years, I don’t know why they haven’t renovated as the half that isn’t being used could probably seat 10 – 20 people. So, as it is, it is essentially a take out place only. On the outside, the basics are covered with it being in a small strip mall so you will have free parking if needed. — — — All in all, I’d go back but if I was looking for lunch, I’d plan to call it in early to cut down on the wait time.

Great stop for a very tasty lunch bite — but hardly anywhere to sit(or even stand inside on a busy lunch) They really need more seating and even simply more standing room for patrons as everybody who orders food has to wait for their order to be filled. Seems to be a lack of design for the overall layout with the giant open kitchen held 4 staff and the 14 paying patrons were squished into a small front area… perhaps time to invest in a re-design me thinks?! Once we got our food it was really good — and the fries are amazing… just a bit cold by the time we drive home to have a place to sit and eat them :(Could have been a 4 – 5 star with a better layout…

Anyone been here lately? Is it still one guy trying to run a store? Been in twice and waits over a hour long pretty dumb. Last time I placed a order over the phone for four meals, showed up and the store was closed, he later called me back and said he left to go to the bank for a few minutes. Has the service got any better?

My friend and I stumbled on this place looking for something else. And I haven’t stopped thinking of it since. I had the BBQ beef with fries, coleslaw, and pickle. I also asked for some chipotle mayo on it. The sandwich was perfect. Not too much meat so that it was falling all over the place, and not too little so you feel cheated. Just enough so there was goodness in ever bite. The meat was tender and decent quality, it didn’t taste like bargain meat. The fries were fresh cut and a generous serving. The coleslaw had a good flavour, not bland at all. Some aoli or other dipping sauce for the fries would have been a nice addition. The guy who took our order didn’t seem 100% certain when ringing up the order. He wanted to sell us the meal with a drink when we asked for the meal on the menu that doesn’t come with a drink. Overall, I was very impressed. The price point for what we got was definitely good. I fear that the prices will go up soon. I’m going back again this week. It’s my new craving.

If you want some amazing takeout sandwiches and meat, go to Robz! The fries are quite good(double cooked it seems), and usually the daily special is phenominal. Don’t let know-nothing niggles about styrofoam discourage you, the food is incredible and prepared by a former Executive Chef. If you’re on Carling and hungry, hit it up!

I came here for take out recently. They open at 11:00am and I arrived at 11:03am to beat the lunch rush. They were already taking orders on the phone when I arrived. I was greeted by someone I think was the owner(he was wearing a chef’s outfit). He was nice enough. I ordered the sandwich of the day which was a roast beef, mushrooms and green peppers sandwich($ 7.50 for a large, and $ 5.75 for a small). You can add fries for $ 2.75. I got the large sandwich and it comes on a plain potato bun(hurray, no pesky sesame or poppy seeds). The roast beef was not a big slice of roast beef like at DiRienzo’s, but rather like little shaved pieces, more like a Philly Cheese Steak sandwich. The meat was flavourful and very juicy. The«jus» soaked through the sandwich. Fortunately, since it was on a heavy potato bun, the sandwich didn’t get too soggy, still it was much wetter than I like it(that sounded so obscene, but I didn’t mean it to be). There were a fair amount of sauteed mushrooms, onions, and green peppers in the sandwich as well. The fries are definitely freshly cut. They still have the skin on them too. They looked really brown, but actually didn’t taste burnt or anything. They tasted quite good — crispy on the outside and soft and sweet on the inside. They are regular cut fries(not shoestring or beefsteak). The sandwich also came with coleslaw and a pickle. The coleslaw was nice and light, not«mayonnaise-y.» I usually hate coleslaw, but I actually didn’t mind this one. The large sandwich with fries was a big serving. I actually only ate half of the sandwich and saved the rest for later. The place is small. You can’t really eat there, the seats are more for waiting for your order. My sandwich took 15 minutes. I was out by 11:18am. During my wait, there were a lot of phone orders and as I was leaving, another guy came in. It’s in a strip mall, so there is some free parking(although there always seems to be more occupied parking spots than you would expect for such a dinky strip mall). It’s at the location of the former Ho-Lee-Pow, which previously was a Ho-Lee-Chow. There’s a Gabriel’s Pizza, Mr. Sub and a place called Shish Kabab House in the same strip mall. Overall, I enjoyed everything. Was I totally wowed by the experience? Not really? Did it taste like a «gourmet sandwich?» Not really. However, it was a good lunch for a little over $ 10. I would come back and try something else.

This place was recommended to me from friends. After hearing from their raving about this place my wife and I finally desided to go try it out for lunch. What a HUGE!!! disappointment the food was subpar the fries were burnt the smoke flavour in the meat gave it a weird taste. Everything was wrapped in plastic and styrofoam which the steam from the hot sandwich gave it a ammonia aroma which was a turn off right there. There’s no menu anymore nor a printed menu to be found the prices have gone way!!! up as well. There was also an old man bum hanging around outside the place rummaging through the garbage and picking up smoke butts off the ground. I don’t recommend this place to anyone as I will never darken their doorway ever again. What a waste of money.

This place was recommended by a friend so we decided to try it out for a snack, we opted for the slow roasted/smoked beef, topped with tomato, lettuce, onions, and an aioli sauce. very tasty, nice and fresh — the fries were double cooked and tasty. a good place for a snack, and they cater to all the local offices in the area.
