Food was tasty and at a good price but the venue is basic and has no atmosphere which is sad for such a great location. The service was very good and everyone friendly and efficient. This place has so much potential.

I have frequented The Henley now several times over the past 4 or 5 years and have been satisfied on every occasion. The food(as most places do) changes slightly over time however and although not spectacular is very high on the Bistro scale. The balance of the menu should be satisfactory to most customers and include several seafood, steak(including aged beef), mandatory schnitzels, salads and a small dessert selection along with daily specials. There is also a seniors and kids menu available with the kids menu printed to allow the kids to colour them in while waiting. Prices are reasonable and offer good value and being a pub has all the accompanying beverages available from the bar including a fair selection of red and white wines. The location is good and there is an alfresco section to the dining area for those perfect days, but make sure you know the sun location as there are no blinds in that area and can get a bit glary(wear sunnies) — the whole dining area though, enjoys a pleasant outlook out to the gulf.

Of the many pubs down the bay, the Henley is not one of my favourites. There is nothing wrong with it as such, there is just nothing that makes it stand out above the others. I have the odd Parmy(Not Parma!) there once in while with, and they go down alright, but no different from any other I have had down that way. The hotel is a pretty family friendly spot, with many brining the whole clan for a Sunday lunch with the Grand Folks. I used to head there once in a while as a little fella myself with the fam. I remember getting bored pretty quickly, but I’m a big boy now and drink big boy drinks!

Right on the Esplanade, Henley Hotel has what you’d expect; a bar, pokies and restaurant. When I first looked at the menu I thought the prices were a bit expensive considering it was a hotel, but there were some cheaper options. I ended up choosing the chicken schnitzel(yes I know, not very original), but I did choose kilpatrick topping for an extra $ 3 which made it a bit more exciting. The schnitzel also came with chips and salad. Overall I enjoyed my meal and the view of the ocean from our table was relaxing. The staff provided reasonable service; they could’ve been a bit more happier and enthusiastic, but when I first walked in I heard one of the girls saying hello to other customers in a very cheery voice, so I guess it depends on the staff member. Henley Hotel is ideal for large groups, or a quiet dinner for two. This is also a good place if you have kids. If you have an Entertainment book don’t forget to take the Henley Hotel voucher with you!
