My favourite restaurant in Fremantle! Food is heaven in your mouth and the staff make you feel like family.

Loved this place, bruchetta bargain for $ 10 as starter, like that you can get entrée sized pasta dishes as a main for $ 19. Desert looked amazing try and save room. FYI it’s no longer byo as some reviews said

Lovely little place for some authentic Italian fare. I had the pasta with white wine sauce and white fish. It was delicate and delicious. I would recommend this place for those who enjoy handmade pasta, or perhaps are looking for a lowkey, unpretentious place for a date. One of my favorites on the Fremantle main drag.

A very decent Italian joint, we went for a birthday do a few weeks ago. The service was good and the food came out swiftly, which is always nice with a big group. I had the octopus carpaccio which was lovely and the muscles stuffed with potatoes, a different but very pleasant dish. It’s a nice place, but a tad expensive.

I’ll confess to being one of those people who complains about the high volume, but low quality /uninspiring choice when it comes to Fremantle’s Italian dining options. At least I was before coming here. Sure it may be a little more expensive than some of the others but certainly not outrageously so and at the end of the day I’m confident you will recognise the value, especially if you are familiar with the prevailing local cost/quality/quantity mix. What is really pleasantly surprising here is the inventiveness of the menu — this is not a spag bog and lasagna kind of place — and it was a great pleasure to go somewhere where choosing from the menu was difficult for the right reason: so many temptations. Even better when the food did arrive it lived up to the expectations that menu created. No wonder the restaurant was near full on a rainy Sunday night in Autumn. Don’t write off Italian in Fremantle until you have tried La Sosta. And leave room for dessert.

To be honest, the service gets 5 stars. The guys were so friendly and charming, it could have been because it was a quiet Tuesday, but Im sure they always give the same level of service. They even entertained our poor Italiano. No less than the level of service back in Italy. The pasta was pretty good. Not extraorsinary. But simple, fresh ingredients. I couldn’t tell you the names of the dishes. I had pasta with prawns and tomato, she had ravioli with ricotta. For dessert I didnt take a risk, I stuck with tiramasu. She had some coconut cheesecake thing. Mine was good. But hers was sublime. Such is the case when we eat together. Oh, and the bill. Id eat here again. Service. Price. And buskers playing Jazz in the street light. What an intimate 24th birthday. What a Tuesday night.

What I love about La Sosta is the really authentic Italian flavours and food. The meals are well-presented and restaurant quality but always reminiscent of a good old fashioned home cooked meal — just like mama makes! I first went for lunch during the week, and was drawn in by the menu outside, and was welcomed and seated immediately. As a second generation Italian girl, I am always skeptical about ordering pasta at restaurants, but the parpadelle with spiced duck sounded too good to pass up! And it was sensational — the pasta was soft and perfectly cooked, just fantastic! The flavour and spice of the duck worked perfectly. So I had to come back for dinner a few nights later. As tempting as it was to go for another pasta dish, I went for the baby goat, with beans, roast potatoes and capsicum. It was again fantastic! The goat was so tender I didn’t need the knife to cut through it, and it had a beautiful lemon flavour. The whole dish was perfect. I also ordered bruschetta and a crème brûlée — both great. The good is great, the staff make you feel welcome and are attentive. The chef came around to talk to all the customers to check in on how they enjoyed their meal — he is really passionate about his food, and it shows on the plate!

Went along with a friend on their advice from a precious visit during the day. They rated it very highly and set quite the expectation for me… Glad to say this place lived up to it all and then some! Fantastic staff are the first thing you’re greeted with. Immediately you’re made to feel welcome and completely at home. The seating was comfortable, well placed and thought out creating a really nice atmosphere that encourages you to enjoy and be a part of it. The menu was very appetising and lead to a hard choice… I ended up going with the bruschetta for entrée, the duck pasta for the main and a crème brûlée for dessert! All were amazing. Couldn’t fault a thing. As I was leaving the staff said goodbye, the chef came from the kitchen to ask how we had enjoyed the meal and the staff accepting the payment remembered my order and seat without any hesitation. The attention to detail is a big thing. Will definitely be going back for more. The only reason I haven’t given 5 stars now is because I think everything needs to be tried twice. Looking forward to updating this review on my next visit to 5 stars!

Have been back twice since the renovations. Larger groups are better catered for as the both times we came here, there were large groups. Tables are still close to one another but it’s part of the atmosphere. It’s a family run restaurant and from the second you enter from the busy Cappuccino Strip, the street noise disappears and there’s a genuine warmth from staff as you’re taken to your table. The food is still as good as ever. It’s difficult to find firm favourites as the menu changes often. I’ve not been able to have any item more than once an yet I keep on returning. As for the presence of larger groups, I’ve been in with large family groups with kids in tow and ones out for celebrating. Not had a problem maintaining conversation in a meal between two. We’ve always been seated next to larger groups and still found it intimate and lovely meal out.

Since the renovations, it is bigger and noisier. My 6 friends and I were placed next to a table of 16 women. Add this to the fact that there was absolutely no sound dampening and the noise was truly painful and unbearable. My wife had the Risotto, it was bland and salty and she was expecting green asparagus not creamed. It was terrible. Please save yourselves the risk of damaged eardrums… go when it’s quieter say on a Wednesday morning, otherwise give this place a miss.

Even though La Sosta has been operating for only a month or so, it feels like they’ve been doing this business a long time(teething problems, what?). This restaurant has confidence. Don’t count on carbonaras or marinaras, the menu is full of gusty Italian made with bold flavours and seasonal ingredients– like pungent Taleggio and asparagus lasagne(a cheese lovers dream), traditional Baccala(salted cod), and lasagnette(llitte squares of lasagne pasta) with wild boar — bang! I ordered the Zuppeta di Pesce. It was brimming with white fish, mussels and calamari rings, in a wonderful garlicky tomato-based sauce. The stew was topped off with two slices of crusty Italian loaf. I used those slices of bread like sponges to soak up every last drop of that delicious broth! The honest-to-goodness food is matched with genuine service. Lively, swift and entertainingly italian. The dining room is very small inside but completely opens up to some marvelous promenade real estate. Dining tables, smartened up with pale yellow tablecloths, spill out onto South Tce, which is better atmosphere than any ritzy interior design job, in my opinion. Among the plethora of Italian restaraunts along this strip, La Sosta is a worthy contender. If you’re looking for an ‘Italian experience’, La Sosta is a good mid-range restaurant for a fun night out on a balmy evening.
