The Railway Tavern is fast becoming a ‘cool’ pub to visit in Motherwell. I went with my friends one week night over the festive period and we had a great night! It was a Wednesday night but i assume they only had karaōke on then because it was Christmas. The bar is pretty old fashioned inside, with the bar in the middle of the pub and tables surrounding it. We ordered some vodkas which were reasonably priced(just slightly more expensive than The Brandon Works) and sambucas. Instead of the normal clear shot, the barman gave us Luxardo Sambuca cream, a kind of coffee tasting liqueur, which blew my socks off. Safe to say the rest of the evening is a tad blurry. The locals were really friendly, the karaōke host was lovely and had some great banter with us, we even got up to belt out a bit of the classic Kenny Rodger’s The Gambler! The pub always has entertainment on, with bands playing and themed parties for special occasions. It also has quite a sizeable beer garden which is perfect for summer. I would suggest that they make a website for irregular punters like me to see what is on and when. Other than that, it seems like a great wee pub!

A busy pub situated on an ideal location in Motherwell it’s a friendly pub which is really busy at the weekend especially if there’s football on. A dj plays on a Friday and live bands on sat and sun. The bands take up a lot of room and can get rather noisy. A beer garden at the back of the pub is ideal for the smokers cause its not very welcoming to be greeted by smokers on entering. Have to say though that the ladies toilets arent always clean and are rather smellyFood prices are very reasonable and a varied menu is served

jam packed at weekends, one of the most popular pubs in motherwell, always a good turn on, singer, dj, karaōke. struggle to get standing room on a saturday night, bouncers on door to sort out any trouble, not too many youngsters in here. do some cracking meals too, homemade soup, steak pie, plus the do xmas lunches in december. turkey with all the trimmings, starters, cheesecakes profiteroles, loads to choose from, better getting there early on firdays for lunch as it seems to get very busy very quickly, some meals on 2 for £10 offer, but most reasonably priced anyway. normal bar prices and staff very friendly
