I’ve said many a time about Wetherspoons pubs, there’s no point looking down your nose at them — they are what they are. They’re nothing if not consistent, and this is a prime example. Is it the best pub you’ve ever been to? Of course not. But it’s also by no means the worst. Staff can be a bit hit or miss depending what mood they seem to be in, but for the most part are pretty decent. Drinks range is on a par with most other Wetherspoons, and the food seems to be the same mass produced turgid, uninspired offerings that the rest of the chain’s bars offer. You get what you pay for food wise, but the ale selections are worth popping in for. As with most Wetherspoons, it’s a great place to meet, hang around for a while and then move on to somewhere else with more atmosphere, that undoubtedly won’t be anywhere as cheap.

As far as Wetherspoons go, this one is not too bad! My mum and I used to go here every Thursday for a Curry Club, I can’t remember why we stopped! Can’t really say much, everyone knows what Wetherspoons is like! This one is actually quite large, but doesn’t have the full range of things on the menu that other branches of this company have; such as the chorizo & spinach pasta that I love from spoons! This specific spoons is sort of an old man’s pub, as I’ve noticed every time I go in about 80% of the patrons are older men watching the football on the TV or chatting away to friends over a pint. Still, not a bad spoons, service is great and food comes out nice and fast! And my burger today was particularly yum!

i really don’ know where to start with wetherspoons. its basically a total hit or a total miss. never just balanced. I’ve been here numerous times for both eating and just socalising. for socalising its fine, prices are reasonable, plenty tables and seating bits, and when its busy there is usually enough staff on at the bar to keep the queue down, if not you just buy double its easier. on the food side though i’m having a debate with myself. on some occasions its been nice, and other times its been horrendous. the food is pretty debatable, i think its just frozen, microwaved etc… but thats my opinion, its not over-priced so i suppose you only get what you pay for, but saying that i don’t really go here for food that much now unless i have too, just for the sheer fact i know its going to be a hit or a miss. however the thing that really put the nail in the coffin for me was when they all of a sudden stopped serving coleslaw. im sorry what? i cant eat a baked potatoe without it and now i cant eat one of my fav lunchtimes dishes because they removed. that pissed me off to some tune i even argued with the guy… they sell steaks, burgers, currys but not coleslaw jeezo. so that was it down the tubes for me. also, i don’t like butter, and see when you ask for a dry roll, i always get a buttered one, when i take it back and i always keep my receipt to show the guy i asked for it dry i just get they were buttered… aye okay, scrapping it off does not make it adry roll, its still buttered, honestly do they think im stupid? anyway go try it out for yourself. however one thing i cannot stand is the fact when i go in with friends and im always the one that does the ordering, i go up to make an order at like 1 in the afternoon and all i get is any ID? jeezo really!?!, its lunch time, & im 24!!! and all we want is some chips and coke. that whole things fucks me off to no end, considering there’s 5year olds running about. go throw them out and then we shall talk. so the whole ID thing and no so great food, means i really dont go here, unless its for a cheapy drink one night.

I can’t allow The Brandon Works to exist on Unilocal without giving it my two cents! The main problem with it, along with most places in Motherwell, is that it is in Motherwell. Other than that, it’s a decent enough Wetherspoons that is characterised by sub-standard food and a strict Think 25 policy. During the day is nice enough, and busy enough, with the Fish Tea being particularly popular with the nifty fifties. They have a few good quiz machines and most importantly. alcohol. By night, it can get a bit rowdy, it has to be said. A popular place for pre-drinkage in Motherwell before heading out.

This branch of Wetherspoons was my local from the age of 16(I probably shouldn’t be telling you that!) so it will always hold a place in my heart. We used to go dressed up to the nines and order pink red square alcopops. We felt really grown up! Now I go back to The Brandon Works for a pre-club pint or an afternoon tipple. It is a pretty big pub, the biggest bar in Motherwell, and there are always people milling around at all times. The best thing about this place is the cheap booze, around 2.10 for a double Disarrono and Diet coke, my tipple of choice. There are also plenty of comfy booths and couches although you will only get one of these on a weekend if you come early. The food is a hit or miss in here. I would only really come here if i had to for lunch or a quick bite before i go out, because the food is largely microwaved and can sometimes be way below par. It is cheap though, so i suppose you get what you pay for. They do the usual Thursday night Curry deals and lunchtime beer and a burger combo for under a fiver which can’t be bad. The staff are also pretty friendly and helpful although i begrudge getting i. d’d at 3 in the afternoon for a diet Pepsi. Don’t really understand that!
