Muy Picante saves the day in the case of Lucha Libre. We went on a Saturday night and it was busy as most places are being right on Deangsate. We had a 20 minute wait to be seated. The bar area at Lucha isn’t the biggest and it was quite crowded with 30 people around about waiting for tables of various sizes. Sadly Lucha only has bottled beer unless you want –2c Heineken(says it right on the tap) but they are at least South American beers so it suits the food. They were true to their word and within 20 minutes we’d be seated. We all got sharing platters and some fries to share, thinking it would be good to try a selection. These came out relatively quickly I would guess 20 minutes which is pretty fast for a busy Saturday night but to be honest the food was okay but just above adequate and really lacked in any spice, which was added solely through the use of the Valentina sauces on the table in Picante and Muy Picante flavours. Though I did store this information in my brain for later because the sauce was nice and spicy. I get the sense that the food has suffered from the franchise effect; that feeling that they don’t take as much care as they used to or a smaller restaurant with less covers might take more time and consideration. It brought to mind that in the kitchen they could possibly have a ginormous pot of refried beans on the bubble constantly. It was bad by any means but it did cause a frenzy or give me any desire to rush back.

I’m fairly proud of myself for coming here for lunch recently. I haven’t been here since an event JQ organised a while back. Now it’d be unfair to say that I dislike Mexican food, but it certainly is lower down my preferable cuisine rota. But having caught a sneaky matinée show at AMC cinemas(£5/ticket how can a geeky film buff refuse?) on my day off, convenience and an open mind allowed me to walk back into Lucha Libre. The place was dead. We got served our food in extremely good time and the service was nothing short of magnificent. However as always I found the food to be a bit meh. It wasn’t bad and it wasn’t great. It was just so military medium I fear it won’t last long in the memory bank even if Parkinson’s doesn’t kick in when I’m old. We had some kind of prawn dish as a starter. Guess what? It was ok. We shared a chicken Caeser salad and a classic burrito. Guess what? It was ok. Is life really about things that are ok? Certainly it’ll pass for a lot of people but ok isn’t really my cup of tea. Anyone who knows my excitable demeanour probably knows that half measures bore me. It’s one of the main reasons incredibly annoying people don’t bother me as people who have no oomph.(Having said that I’m far more forgiving of people than I am of food related stuff. Another words, people with no oomph have a chance. Food with no oomph? One strike and you’re out) Having said that the décor in Lucha Libre is nothing short of spectacular. No half measures were taken there. I love it! There’s so much character. It’s such a shame that the food is so vehemently mutually exclusive to the interior in terms of va va voom/je né said quoi. This is a perfect venue for coming to sit and share cocktails in the amazing sofa area with a group of friends. As for the food, there are so many great options surrounding Lucha Libre that only ethanol induction will tempt a Mancunian foodie to stay and eat after the aforementioned drinks.

I had wanted to go to Lucha libre for a while so when the opportunity arose I jumped at the chance. I had high hopes for this place but have to admit I was a little disappointed. Positives first though. So on a Friday night around 8.30 we were seated right away which was brilliant, staff were very attentive, friendly and helpful. They have a brilliant cocktail menu which we had a few of, including one of the large glass skulls full of vodka and other exciting things which made a change. The food menu offers a selection of smaller plates(think mexican tapas) and also a huge selection of tacos, quesadillas and burritos, large plates and also sharing plates containing a mix of things. You can then add a variety of sides to your meal. The boys ordered a rib enchilada(report back was that it was ok) and a chicken and chorizo chilli with green rice(report back was that this was brilliant and there was so much meat they couldn’t believe how little it cost) and I had a bbq chicken burrito with spicy bbq fries. The burrito was ok. Bursting with different ingredients and I loved the salsa but it was just slightly on the bland side. The fries were great, coated in a bbq seasoning. I also ordered the margarita prawns which were slightly different than I was expecting. They came and were sticky with a kind of odd flavouring. Probably wouldn’t get these again. We also shared a plate of lamb tacos and again, these were ok. Overall a mix of good and average. The bill only came to £35 each with drinks which was very reasonable. Would go back as it’s probably one of the better mexican restaurants in town, but there is definitely room for improvement.

Mexican food in Manchester? Texas raised gal is suspicious and soon a fan of this joint. What in sam hell is going on, they even have Valentina sauce on the table. The best basic Mexican sauce available in my opinion and used by Mexicans all over Texas. Burrito– all quality ingredients, well molded and seasoned, all melty together into a sumptuous steamy bundle. My manly dining partner gifts me one bite, I should have ordered the burrito. Being a sucker, a consistent sucker at least for both squash & chorizo, I order the salad (Chargrilled chorizo, oven roasted butternut squash, cherry tomatoes and spinach). Delicious. Margaritas step into the limelight and get a yes, hell yes. Perfectly shaken to boozey non sweet Mexico salted green. Just how I like um’ Fun music, lively colors & vibe that make you feel happy like Mexico. Great helpful fun staff. Yeehaw. Get another marg!

I really like Mexican food, though I don’t really know what’s what. The nice thing about this place is the waitress gave a really honest opinion on the food portions and didn’t try to sell me and my bf a stupid amount of food. Even though we told her we were starving, she recommended a sharing platter and said it would be more than enough. We didn’t believe we her… mainly because the hunger was clouding our rational. When it came out it was more than enough and tasted really nice. We had a couple of cocktails, mine was a watermelon and tequila kind of thing and was very tasty. Came out in a cool looking glass too… just thought i’d say. The staff were really attentive and helpful. The décor is pretty cool and spaced out. The selection of food is pretty big and you can mix and match which is even better. Especially for someone like me whose eyes are bigger than my belly?! I’l cut to the chase now. The main reason we went back for a second visit was the Churros. Not gonna lie, they are good. Could eat them constantly. Nice fun place to grab a bite to eat and a few cocktails! I’ll be going back :)

I went to Lucha Libre for a networking do, which was held upstairs. There were over 100 people, and upstairs did feel a bit squashed for that number of people, but I’d say that if you had to organise an event for up 100 people it’d be a good space. The welcome drink was a frozen margharita, which was very good. I assume it is available at ‘normal’ times. The food was some popcorn(which was very spicy, so be warned if you order it as a snack), and a little version of chilli with rice and nachos. The chilli was very hot and I couldn’t have eaten a bigger portion of that because it was very spicy. If I’d gone in and ordered the chilli, I would not have been happy paying for a big portion and not being able to finish it. However, if you like your chilli really spicy hot then you’d love it. I had some rose wine which was very nice. Overall, its a good venue and I would like to go back sometime and have a proper meal. I will review properly at that time but I feel I can only give it 3 stars on this experience.

Lucha Libre has recently opened next to All Star Lanes in the Great Northern. With the opening of this and Almost Famous in the same building there is city wars taking place with eateries from 3 cities — Almost Famous(Manchester), All Star(London) and Lucha(Liverpool). Lucha Libre(a term for a freestyle Mexican wrestler who wears a mask) is a casual Mexican restaurant which is focusing on small plates — you can get a taco tray which gives you 3 each of 4 different types so is a good sharing starter. The interior of the restaurant has red chillies all around and on one side has a chilli sauce wall! I went on a Saturday night and at 7pm there was already a wait of 45 minutes(which turned out to be less than 30 minutes in the end) — they must have room for 100 covers over two floors along with a bar area so it’s got off to a good start business wise. The food was good, not brilliant but good and I’d happily go again — my recommendation would be to order a number of small plates and share as some were more successful than others. I sadly can’t remember everything that I tried but here are a few things… Prawn taco with chunky mango salsa, red chilli and coriander — I’m not entirely sure I like the prawn with mango combination as this is the 2nd place that I’ve had it — 6⁄10 24 hour marinated pork belly in cola, achiote and citrus juices served with an apple salsa, fresh coriander and red onion — this was one of my favourite things with tasty pork belly complimented by the apple(a nod to a Sunday lunch) — 8⁄10 Spiced Lamb Hot Pot Tacos, slow cooked lamb leg with ancho chilli beetroot purée & crispy carrots — A nod to Manchester from Lucha and a really tasty mouthful although did lose the carrots amongst everything else — 8⁄10 Chorizo and Potato quesadillas — anything with chorizo is good and this tasted just as you’d expect it to do — 7⁄10

Awful. Just awful. One of the worst examples of style over substance in all of Manchester. First, a disclaimer: the cocktails were fine. There. Good things over. Second, prices. £4.50 for tacos that I finished in literally 6 bites? Really? They weren’t even particularly nice to eat. In a word, boring. Then to the main. This was actually reasonably priced in terms of what I received — a fish burrito. Which was basically fish and chips in a tortilla. Not a great combination, and again bland. A dessert, for £4, was disappointing. Supposedly a chilli brownie, I wasn’t able to taste any chilli in it whatsoever. And a tiny scoop of vanilla ice cream made the whole thing unbalanced and entirely too rich as a dessert. Service was spotty, too — drinks orders were forgotten and a polite request for a dessert recommendation was(and I’m putting this politely) declined. I spent £27 including two drinks and, honestly, I’d have been better going to Bar Burrito. Ouch.

This place is fun but a little pricey. It is great when they have special offers, which range between 20% — 50%. They usually advertise them on Twitter. It is definitely worth a visit as the food is good and the service is fine. I much prefer Lust, Liquor and Burn. Better for groups.

Had been really looking forward to my visit to Lucha Libre as I love Mexican food and fortunately it didn’t disappoint. The service was excellent and very friendly. The menu was really varied with some more authentic dishes. I really liked the idea of the small plates as you got to try a few different things. I had the fish tacos, veggie empanadas and spicy fries. All were extremely good. The cocktails were nicely presented and the atmosphere was nice and relaxed. Think I’ll be going back to try a few different things on their menu.

Another trip to Lucha Libre and another 3 star experience. Out for a colleague’s leaving do, I was asked where we should go and eat — the office is across the road from Spinningfield but we didn’t have that money to burn. Cheap, easy and veggie friendly(not my specialist subject)…my mind went straight to Lucha. Walking in, noone spotted us so we made our way to a table, then someone appeared to tell us we couldn’t just seat ourselves and the table needed cleaning. After a quick wipe down(which really could have been done whilst we were sat there) we were seated and told menus would be bought over. I popped upstairs to use the facilities and those mysterious menus hadn’t arrived. Then it all started feeling rather familiar and the de ja vu from last time was prominent! We eventually ordered, most of my companions going for the veggie tacos due to not being very hungry, and I opted for the standard steak burrito. The food came as ready, which didn’t take a huge amount of time, but my drink only arrived when the food did, leaving me thirsty for a good 10 – 15 minutes. A glass of wine didn’t arrive along with my drink and, after prompting, the waitress bought it over — quite literally plonking it on the table as she passed by, without a second thought. Lucky for them, my burrito was really tasty, with much more spice than last time. I also shared a portion of spicy fries, which were just as tasty as last time. But that service just leaves a bitter taste in my mouth.

This was my second time visiting Lucha Libre, and both times, it’s been pretty great. I love Mexican food, and the décor/vibe here is cool, if a bit ‘manufactured’. I really like the film posters on the walls. On my first visit for my birthday in November, we shared the taco platter. Twelve gorgeous little soft tacos, showcasing four different fillings. I think my favourite was the Pil Bil — pork with orange juice and achiote. The pork belly marinated in cola and citrus also deserves an honourable mention! We had jalapeño poppers on the side, which were pleasantly fruity but not particularly hot. Be careful — as with all poppers, they can be messy! The Mr tried the grapefruit Jarrito(soft drink — the pineapple one is delightful, and the grapefruit one cuts through heat nicely), and I risked the beer with the lime and hot sauce — alright, but I wouldn’t order it again. On our second visit, last night, we fancied trying out the burritos. The Cali Steak — marinated steak, caramelised onions, sweet potato fries, cheese, sour cream, guac, and lettuce — appealed to us more than the Classic option of red rice and beans, but we fancied swapping in the Pil Bil pork in place of the steak. This was no problem at all. The burritos were very tasty, if a bit on the small side, but I guess at a place like this you’re supposed to try lots of little bits and bobs and get starters and sides. We did share a bowl of spicy fries, which were great. I also could have done with a lot more guacamole in my burrito, and would have ordered a little pot of it as an extra if that had been a menu option, but it wasn’t. I expect if I had asked our server they would have been able to sort it, but I didn’t think to at the time. Both times we’ve been here, the greeters and servers have been absolute stars. Helpful, attentive, and pleasant — I’ve never had to wait to get their attention. Really well trained, lovely people, and the kitchen seems to run like clockwork — I’m always impressed with how quickly the food arrives. The food itself isn’t particularly spicy, but with various bottles of hot sauce on every table — choose from picante or muy picante! —, and an amazing cabinet of assorted sauces ready for the using, it’s not really an issue. You could bring someone here who doesn’t particularly dig spicy food, and they’d be happy, while you can chuck ghost pepper sauce on your meal to your hearts content. The chipotle sauce which is on about half of the tables(the other tables seemed to have a habanero sauce) is something extra special if, like me, you love this smoky chilli. One little thing — Mexican beers are generally crap, and don’t pair with the food nearly as well as, say, a cheeky bottle of something full of citrus-y American hops. I would have killed for a big IPA to match the heat of the hot sauces! Well, we can but hope ;) I’m sure I’ll be going back to try their street food tray.

Lucha Libra is full of highs and lows, but overall, the feeling is of disappointment at the missed potential. My advice would be stick to the Tacos, Burritoes and Quesadillas. I’ve been to Lucha twice, once in the opening week and once in the January sales. Both of these times were during half price sales, so my friends & I decided to go a bit crazy and select a load of food to get a feel for what’s good. Unfortunately, this only highlighted the great disparity in the quality of the menu. The highlight by *far* are the tacos. They’re a great starter or bar snack, that are full of zesty flavour and aren’t too filling. Forget the crispy tacos you’ve seen everywhere else, these are delicate parcels of flavour wrapped in a small soft tortilla. I’ll admit I’ve tried most the tacos on offer, so my recommendations would be the pulled pil bil pork and the fish. The pil bil is soft, smoky and comforting. The fish has just enough firmness to hold its own against the flavours of the sauces, with a wonderful crisp. Personally, I think the tacos are the only real USP for Lucha, there’s nothing else on the menu that isn’t done better elsewhere unfortunately. I’d love to see Lucha venture towards more traditional Mexican styles and less tex-mex, it’s something that hasn’t really been done before in Manchester, and tex-mex is all most people know. The burritoes are also great. The problem I have with this, is that burritoes are seen as fast food, so if you want a burrito, I’m sure most people would go to one of the burrito counter places like Barburrito or Chango’s before thinking of Lucha. But if you want a sit down lunch, then the burritoes here are decent enough. The quesadillas are decent enough, but then again, it’s pretty difficult to ruin a quesadilla. The mixed grill of ribs, chorizo burger and chicken wings ranged from the barely acceptable(chorizo burger — a mound of slightly spicy meat) to the pretty good(ribs — sticky and tender). This dish felt more of a side-thought for those in your party who don’t want fancy tex-mex. The burger — another mainstay for people who don’t like mexican. A pretty average uninspiring affair, but an average burger is still good. Then came the bad… Tex-Mex at it’s sloppy fatty, cheese-smothered horrifying worst. The pork enchiladas were unrecognisable — arriving completely flat in a cast-iron dish, it was hard to believe there was ever anything under the gloop. Digging through the swamp of a sauce, all I could taste was cheese and tomato in an indistinct tasting mess. The tortilla had almost melted into thin veils and the pork was completely lost. In comparison with the clean, sharp, zesty flavours of the tacos, the enchilada had virtually no flavour at all. Mixed with fries, it made quite a good poutine though! All in all, I feel like some of Lucha’s menu is so close to making it an instant go-to venue. The tacos are amazing, and if I was to return I would stick to a platter of tacos. It’s a real shame that the rest of the menu is so lacklustre — please refine it Lucha! The price is also a big decider. At half price, the food is obviously good value, but at full price it’s just enough to dissuade me from going. It’s aiming at premium junk food a la Solita and Southern Eleven, but without the same attention to detail on the menu. PS Did I mention how great the tacos are? I know I’m labouring this point, but I hate negative reviews and the tacos are really worth checking out. If I was to rate Lucha on tacos alone, it would be a 4 star review. Go to Lucha with a group is friends, order a beer and a tonne of tacos and you’re sure to have a good night.

I visited Lucha Libre for the first time a week ago and it’s given me time to digest(no pun intended) my experience so I can recount it on this here review. I’ve come away slightly disappointed even though actually the food was generally tasty and I do like what they’ve done with the place décor wise. I think it’s fairly good value for money too and I think it does have the potential to get better. I think my biggest problem with it was the service. I’m sad because reading the other reviews, it seems that this isn’t always the case. I found our server very blunt and unwelcoming; throwing plates down and just generally looking miserable(I know not everyone has to love their job but a little effort goes a long way… as well as a bigger tip/repeat visits). It wasn’t very busy when we arrived and we were a table of 9 who weren’t difficult or demanding though I still felt rushed and wasn’t made to feel comfortable. Everyone in my party agreed with me on this, in fact they told me to make sure I mentioned it in my review. So anyway, the food. I started with nachos with Guacamole and Chilli bacon jam, I was excited about this but the jam was more Pâté like and lacked spice. I think I may have had too high expectations. I also had fish tacos which were the best thing I tasted that evening, fresh, with a lovely aioli mayo. They were small but you get 3 of them, I also had it with green rice which was basic but hit the spot. I shared a white wine sangria jug which was ok. If I was to go back again, I’d go for a the sharing platter as there was more food and meant that you got to taste a variety of different things. I’d probably go back on a weekend too as maybe they’d be more atmosphere then.

I thought about waiting to write a review until I’ve given it a second chance but actually the disappointment-to-price ratio was such that I probably won’t come back. Firstly, the staff in here were great. Someone came over the minute I walked in to greet me, someone else came and gave me advice on the menu, and when I sat down at the bar to wait for my takeaway, I was immediately asked if I would like a drink. Granted they weren’t busy but given the amount of times you get ignored in quiet restaurants this was still very impressive. Also impressive was the wide selection of tequila I could see behind the bar. The whole food situation was disappointing though, for 3 reasons: (1) The website showed the Liverpool branch having lunch meal deals. No such deal in Manchester. (2) The tacos were overpriced given their size. They were also the most unappetising looking dish I’ve had in a while(murky colour, soggy tacos) and didn’t have much of a taste. I tried the prawn and mango version, I had got kind of excited when I saw they had fish and seafood tacos because my first experience of really good Mexican food was fish tacos at Señor Fish in Eagle Rock, LA, but quite why I thought this place would live up to it I am not sure, because the only place I’ve found selling delicious tacos in the UK is a market stall outside Waterloo, which makes sense as tacos always taste better served from(something akin to) a truck. Maybe the fish tacos are better than the prawn ones? But why would I bother trying 3 more tiny tacos for another £5.75? If Wahaca is not charging this much in Covent Garden I have no idea why you would be Deansgate. (3) Should have remembered John L.‘s comment about the jalapeño poppers. Unexciting. Added mainly because waitress said the tacos were small, which is true, but even after both I was STILLHUNGRY. Not acceptable now I have spent £9.50, guys… Overall for a disappointing lunch that came in at approximately double my target £5 budget, it wasn’t worth the walk.

Funky mexican décor in the toilets! Very atmospheric :) My favourite part! Very much enjoyed my first exprience here. Loved the décor, mexican posters, lights made out of glass bottles, etc. The staff are very friendly, it’s a newly opened space so they will ask you if it’s your first time. They’ll recommend the good stuff and advise on sides depending on what main you’ve ordered; i.e. You have a main with LOTS of sauce, so opt for chips instead of salsa for a side. The food is delightful — the flavours in your mouth will go BANG! And don’t worry about the mess, there are EXTRA napkins and knives and forks in a pot on the table and they bring you a bowl of lemon water for cleaning your hands — 5*‘s was given as soon as that landed there. There is nothing worse than having food everywhere and having to trek to the toilets and open doors with salsa stained hands. We tried the full thing; starter, mains, coffee, juice and dessert. Everything was amazing and they advised on gluten free choices. Dietary needs definitely didn’t impact on the service or make you feel like an annoyance at all. I’m definitely going back. Again and again and again and … you get me!

It’s big, and though not a chain, it’s skirting dangerously close to feeling like one. Closing my eyes and pretending it’s more like the huge but ace places you get in the US, I was ready for some food. On the whole, this is pretty decent, for Mexican in Manchester or even the Northwest. The tacos were tasty, reasonable black beans, etc. The jalapeño poppers, although recommended by our friendly and helpful waitress, weren’t really doing it for me, served molten-lava hot, presumably out of the microwave. It took about 10 minutes before it was physically possible to eat them, and then they weren’t very interesting. The rice also needs work here as others have mentioned, dry, and lifeless. The table had some solid chillie sauces, the chipotle was especially decent. This is a great place to stop off on a boozy night out.

Went to the new Lucha Libre in Manchester recently, having heard great things from their Liverpool outfit we were well excited to try out the food there. Mexican food has definitely raised up the bar of late as a result increased the popularity and hype around this type of cuisine. Burritos and tacos are becoming the new burgers. We went as a sizeable group and were seated upstairs on the balcony. When you get there you really appreciate the size of the place: it’s huge ! They’ve done a good job with the décor but it’s hard to get away from the Disneyland/hollywood studios in Mexico type feel. It’s a big machine. Having said that the staff has been superbly trained, our waitress despite the busyness of the place, attended to us very well and was always available and attentive. Very efficient. The food came surprisingly quickly but I guess they have things at the ready for any quantity. The finger food worked very well with us all. Everyone enjoyed it. I think the flavours are generally tuned to please the masses. I wouldn’t mind a bit more of mexican authenticity on the chilli heat and the flavours but it sounds like they nailed it in Liverpool so they may still be in the process of finding their feet in the Manchester kitchen. It still was great food and very reasonably priced. We benefited from the 50% off that was offered between Mondays and Thursdays and it came down to £13 each including drinks. One wonders how they make money on that but it must have worked as the place was rammed. I will go again if I’m in the area say for a film or for a quick bite after work before meeting friends for a school night drink.

September is it open? No. October is it open? No. November is it open. Yes, but only just at the very end! To say I’ve been looking forward to going to Lucha is an understatement of the highest level, especially with the opening date moving further and further away with each passing week. It all dates back to visiting the Liverpool branch this summer and being all like«wow this Mexican street food is super tres awesome» Not only this but the one thing Manchester is really lacking in is decent Mexican restaurants so the more the merrier to set up here the better I say. So anyway here’s some of the main points: 1. The place is huge and much bigger than their Liverpool branch — tables, booths and hidey holes are all around but I would recommend booking at the weekend as this area of town gets rammed and I imagine they’ll get a lot of overspill from Almost Famous as people decide not to wait 11 hours for a table. 2. The menu was a mix of street food and tex mex classics, but with twists such as bacon jam alongside their Guac and burritos filled with healthy treats such as sweet potato(alongside all the usual unhealthy type fillings) — basically we went for the taco trays and burrito selection and both were pretty good. 3. The beer selection is pretty poor and a bit lacking in anything apart from the most obvious Mexican lagers. To quote Dr Evil«throw us a fricking bone» by at least stocking something like Sierra Nevada or something SoCal as a lot of people’s palates are developing far beyond the boring, uninteresting lagers on offer. In fact one Unilocaler said he wished he hadn’t actually had a beer here and saved has cash. Our waitress was a super friendly switched on girl who’d made the journey over from Liverpool to help with the launch and nothing was too much trouble for her. I get the impression Lucha could start to lose it’s identity and head towards chain bar territory if it opens up too many branches of this size too quickly, there was just something lost in translation in atmosphere and ambience from their cozy Liverpool branch but who knows what the future will hold. Overall I’m looking forward to going back and having another go through their menu, I might just stick to water though and go for a good beer afterwards somewhere else.

Mexican food do I like you, I think I like you… well I like parts of you, there are parts I don’t like but thats obvious if there are only parts that I do like, Mexican style food you’re like a double edged sword I love beans, I love rice, I love wraps, I love meat, meat in all its forms you put them all together it’s a great thing. But because I’m a big manly wuss I’m not a great fan of ‘hot spicey’, I love spices just don’t understand ones that burn your mouth to numbness I apologise as this generally upsets people What does this mean for Lucha, I probably can’t review it in an adequate fashion due to my Spiceitus but I shall have a stab. It nearly all went horrifically wrong, so horribly horribly wrong… if it had continued in this light I potentially would have just pushed my keyboard aside and said NOREVIEWFORYOU, it was a wednesday night I went along with some friends, we grabbed a beer before we got there, we wandered in at 10.00. Table for 5 please, it was ominously empty so seating was easy, food menus handed out(this detail is important). A few minutes went by a waitress came over ’So what would you like to drink’ drinks orders given, we then suggested we’d worked out our starters ’Oh but the kitchens closed’… duh duh DUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUURRRR, Now this is potentially our own naivety of being used to NQ closing times and of this establishment having a similar vibe we ‘presumed’ BUT How could this not be mentioned as we walked in for our table, they gave us food menus! /facepalm, luckily we’re not the angriest of people despite our vast excesses of facial hair and overpowered rugged masculinity we looked up from our food menus they’d given us, and then at each other and just said ‘really?‘ Waitress quickly went to the kitchens to double check and came rushing back. ‘Its ok we can still get food orders in right now’ PHEW!!! our night was based about trying lucha libre it nearly got ran off the road by a dastardly coyote. My starter little street tacos with chicken on… vary tasty, though I prefer LLL&B’s Main was a Pork Burrito and it had positives and negatives based on my personal taste, there were refried beans in it(LLL&B take note why you no have refried beans) The spice level of the pork was more than I’d prefer, though I’m like to point out I finished the whole thing: D I’m a growing(sideways) boy you know. I think next time I’ll give their BBQ Chicken a go on the same burrito. Their fries I think there’s only one choice and they are spicey. as a disclaimer my mates who all are spice freaks thoroughly enjoyed their food so it certainly caters for the spice lover. Service difficult to judge, it was absolutely fine, yes we had the hiccup at the beginning of giving food menus when the kitchen was closing, but our waitress was attentive, but then I do temper that with the place was virtually empty. I’ll have to go on a busier night to fully go for judging service. So what does this all mean… I prefer LLL&B(just get some damned refried beans) BUT this place is so much closer to my work and it is good, and shall certainly have to have a few more go’s to truly decide how I feel about the place
