Excellent Mexican food, although quite pricey its definitely worth it and the portion sizes a quite generous. The staff are very friendly and helpful and it’s a good atmosphere.

I’ve been here a couple of times for a takeout lunch during work. It’s one of the more pricer spots for lunch but when in need of something a little different its a good shout. Bar Burrito really is fast food — set out a little like subway you make your way along the counter. First choice is burrito or taco? I opted for the burrito with chicken, rice, plenty of salad and salsa, guacamole and sour cream. Although with the addition of the sauces making this slightly pricer it was well worth it! I actually didn’t realise this place was a chain(we don’t have any in Newcastle) and considering I thought the food was spot on. All wrapped up in foil it was still hot when I got back to the office — tasty choice if your in need of a spicy filled burrito!

Take-away or sit-in, this is your basic Mexican I love Mexican food: the fresh ingredients, the spicy sauces, whole chillies. I’ve been to maybe two or three good Mexican restaurants here; Barburrito is an everyday alternative to those, and it’ll do for a change from Pret A Manger or Eat, but I won’t necessarily go out of my way to find another branch. I had the burrito bowl, which is essentially a burrito without the wrap. I had lots of additional chillies, plenty of guacamole and sour cream. There was plenty of it, which was the plus point, but it wasn’t remarkable, which is difficult on a street with so much choice. So it’s all right if you fancy a change but there’s definitely better out there!

If Mexican food’s your bag but you’re in too much of a hurry for a proper sit-down affair, Barburrito makes for a quick and very tasty lunch. I’m experiencing severe guacamole cravings at the moment(no, I’m not up the duff, before you ask — just plain greedy) so when me and the other half discovered this place last weekend, I squealed with delight. It’s a similar set-up to Subway, in that you queue up and choose the ingredients of your burrito, burrito bowl, taco or nachos at the counter, whilst making your way towards the till. I opted for a chargrilled chicken burrito with loads of other ingredients, such as jalapenos, guacamole, sour cream, onions, roast red peppers, cheese, refried beans and spicy rice — pretty damn healthy, eh?! I didn’t think I’d be able to eat the whole thing but it was so delicious, I managed to scoff the lot in about 5 minutes(again, greedy). I can’t remember the total cost of my burrito and a re-fillable drink but it was well under a tenner and totally worth every penny. Barburrito is perfect for spicing up boring lunch breaks during the week or for feeding a hangover at the weekend. I will definitely be returning!

Barburrito is a Chipotle style fast food burrito restaurant. I’m a big fan of these kind of restaurants because you get a lot of quite tasty food quickly and for a good price: ideal if you are hungry and in a hurry. Barburrito has some features that set it apart a bit — good selection of different types of rice, for example. Weirdly you can’t combine meat/veg here like you can everywhere else, but it’s only 50p extra(which they actually waived in my case seeing as I didn’t realise). It’s not gourmet, and it’s not taco truck, but it’s reliable and good to have around.

Hahaha nice try, Barburrito. I see you there trying to pretend like you’re chipotle and what not, but sorry it’s really not working out. Let’s get down to it, I did not have any decent Mexican food while in England. Barburrito attempts to get the job done and looks appealing with it’s nice atmosphere and legit marketing, but sadly, does not succeed. So the mistakes I find are as follows: undercooked rice, flavorless black beans, skimpy portions of meat and pretty much everything else to be precise, and no spice in the salsas/sauces. I hope this place improves for the sake of Mexican-food lovers everywhere and the people of Manchester who may now have the absolute wrong impression of what Mexican food is. I know that Chipotle doesn’t have much authenticity either, but at least it’s tasty and filling. Better luck next time, Barburrito.

It turns out there’s nothing quite like a late night Barburitto on a night out. The Piccadilly Gardens joint has always been a hangover favourite and, when on a recent work do when everyone was starving at the same time having not eaten since lunch, we piled into this branch. Some of the group were Barburrito novices but the staff were surprisingly helpful, especially considering there was nothing they’d rather do than clean up and shut up shop for the night. I had a burrito bowl, eager to not overfill myself and tip into the edge of a drunken food coma(simply the worst combination), and it was delicious. Lettuce and cheese mixed with rice and shredded pork — how I haven’t been here late night before I don’t know. The toilets here are located downstairs, a bit annoying when you’re not feeling steady, but it feels much bigger than Piccaddilly Gardens. I agree with all that Chipotle is a more exciting mexican branch — I ate there twice weekly when in America and was a complete saviour in Chicago — but we don’t have one of these. We have a Barburrito and we should be proud.

Before I start my review I have to mention that people who have tried Mexican in the US probably might not think this is such a great place. Having said that Barburrito is definitely one of the better Mexican food joints in Manchester and to top it all its CHEAP(6.50 for a meal is a bargain!). The tacos with spicy beef and cheese sauce definitely has to be my favorite thing here besides nachos. I have to say I am not the biggest fan of their burrito(yeah I have tasted better in Chipotle in London). If you want a quick meal which tastes good while you are on a shopping trip or after work this definitely is a much better bet than the regular chains. They also have an unlimited refill on drinks and have a good selection of Mexican beers like Corona, Desperado amongst others. The cool burrito chefs are very friendly and always up for a good laugh while making you your delicious meal. I have a Barburrito card as well because of which I can get discounts(don’t miss the student discounts here). Verdict: Good food, cheap and cheerful! p.s love their tagline: Food that MEX you spin!

I live in New York City but come to Manchester a lot for work and always try to fit in a visit here. It’s a pretty good replica of a US burrito joint, they have a good selection of options, and bottom line, the food is good. For Americans expecting enormous, Chipotle-size burritos like you’ll find in the States, you’ll be disappointed, but the portions are still decent for the price.

Think of Subway, but at the till you end up with a burrito. I was introduced to this culinary delight by a friend while in the Trafford Centre. I’d never had and still haven’t had any other burrito. But I did love it. So so filling but expensive for what it actually is. I also wanted to introduce this place to my partner. So when we had the pleasure of taking a trip to the city centre I made sure we stopped off. The store is a franchise so every store really looks the same, so what makes the store different is the staff. The staff here were nice and approachable. They won’t give you a funny look if you haven’t got a clue what to order or how to order. They will explain everything to you. If I was hungry and was passing I’d deco go for a burrito, but the price does make me think about going elsewhere sometimes.

Mmmh… Barburrito. Finally a new place(For me) to review about :) I’ve always seen these places lying around Manchester, however I’ve never picked up the urge to try… Until now!(Plays epic, action themed music) But on a serious note, I must admit :) I fell in love with this place on my first bite of my taco: D The staff are friendly and informal, the place looks warm and comfortable. The food is served in a «Subway» style, where you have options of fillings/base indigent(Taco, Burrito, Nacho), even with the speed they serve it taste absolutely delicious. I can’t say much about the whole menu, but the tacos I tried were AMAZING! Well worth the £5(roughly) I spent. Overall, I would happily jump on the chance to try something else here. Oh, and there are more than enough seating areas So yea, go there if you haven’t. Because I’m proud to say that Barburrito stole my Subway themed Taco virginity. P. s. The music is also great, plus the toilets are okay: D

My bf(Karl B no less!) took me to the barburrito in piccadilly gardens then this one opened on Deansgate, and I do keep going back again and again. They have just released a new loyalty card which gives you a free main meal when you buy 9, which is better than nothing but the student discount has since been dropped to 10%. A bit overpriced in my opinion but the burritos and nachos are all so tasty and after 4.30 corona is only £1.75.

The dearth in Mexican cuisine will not be satisfied by Barburrito but it is the best attempt I’ve seen thus far this side of the Atlantic. They do make a valiant attempt however, and this cousin to the American chain Chipotle is pretty decent– and the salsas nearly authentic. I especially like their tongue-in-cheek advertisements and promotions(«Tight Ass Tuesdays» is a particular favourite) and the staff is delightfully– well, delightful. A smile! And fast service! And apologies when it’s not fast! A shocker when it comes to a fast food establishment in any country. One thing I’d like to see change is the overcooked, soggy fajitas(onions and peppers). They’d be much better crispy. Plus, it would be great if they allowed you to substitute the veg for the beans and rice without charging extra(even when you don’t have the beans or rice). Either way, I’d return both for fast food(hardy-har-har) and the nice staff.

The best Burrito you can get this side of the atlantic I’m sure, yeah sure it works like subway but who cares the food is excellent and cheap, 20% off if your a student too making a standard burrito under £4 and I find the portions in this particular branch of the chain to be larger than the others. Would be nice if they dropped the price of the bottles of beer by 50p, definitely a good quick food fix though. I recommend the shredded beef with extra mushrooms, hot beans and hot salsa :) Oh and in comparison to the burrito’s I had in San Fran I prefer these, they’re a lot smaller mind but are a hell of a lot more healthy and use better ingredients imo

Yep, Barburrito on Deansgate is a solid three star establishment. I’d go back, sure, but out of sheer convenience more than anything else. I think my experience there recently was spoiled by the fact that I’m headed to San Francisco soon, and I know for sure that it is the city of the burrito. Our paltry British attempts at Mexican food will pale in comparison to those giants. So I was at a loose end, my stomach was yelling at me for forgetting lunch and I needed food fast. That’s what Barburrito does. It is literally like a quasi-Mexican Subway — you decide what meat you want, how you want it, how spicy, what extras. You cannot deny that the convenience of this Deansgate branch really is something, considering its proximity to the business district by week, family-friendly frolic-centre by weekend area known as Spinningfields. You also cannot deny another, more unfortunate Subway similarity. Fast food restaurant equals fast food staff. Disgruntled students, pouty teenagers, people who generally want to see the back of you as quickly as possible. The manager’s nice, but they always are in such establishments. My burrito bowl was a pretty small portion to be honest, and despite the fact that it was just the amount I needed, I like to be overwhelmed by my Mexican food. And to be honest, it was exactly the sort of thing I could have whipped up in my kitchen with a jar of Olde El Paso. Except I’d have used nicer cheese and not charged myself extra for the guacamole.(Which is, admittedly, spot on. No wonder they make a killing from it.) Speed and efficiency plus fresh, chunky avocados wins this an A-OK status. But I’m not in love with the veggie option and they could do with far more generosity, both in sauce proportion and in service.
