***NAMEISCHANGEDTO «CHINAEXPRESS»(17 September 2011). The review of the food is from the previous name. The deals, etc. appears to be the same.) ************************************************ Why and I did I come to this place? Very convenient location and the«bang for the buck!» That’s why I’m giving it 3 stars. We ordered the curried chicken, beef chow fun, szechuan chicken, kung pao shrimp, rice with bean curd, and pot stickers. There were 4 adults and 4 children. Wow, we had PLENTY of food — we had leftovers even. What does this infer? The portions are HUGE. They give you the dishes in «to go» boxes — even if you are dining in. You can expect to receive everyting in «plastic to go» boxes or boxes for rice. The plates you eat on will be paper/plastic, and the silverware will be plastic. I guess they like to be efficient? Maybe it’s not the most environment friendly place, but. it «woks». I can understand and appreciate. Curried Chicken — This was the yellow chicken curry. Not sure how else to explain it. They put in lots of onions, which I’m a fan of, and lots of chicken, which I’m a fan of, and lots of sauce, which was also good. No problems here. this wasn’t the absolute favorite dish, but it was good. Beef Chow Fun — It was not greasy. When you looked at the noodles, they weren’t «shining» with grease. The quality of the meat wasn’t the bestest, but hey… this place is a value place. BTW, I don’t mean to freak you out when I say it wasn’t the best quality. It was just … average or slightly below average quality meat. Not bad… Expected. Pot Stickers — The pot stickers had some really, really thick outer dough/coverings. They were like 1 mm, which doesn’t sound like a lot, but yeah … it’s definitely a thick outer covering! So, if you don’t like thick, this is not the kind for you. It was fine… the meat filling seemed small compared to the size of the pot sticker and the thickness of the dough. That’s just my opinion, though. Sooo, what was the service like you ask? Well, like a typical Asian restaurant, they weren’t necessarily the most friendly … but I sort of expect it. They were not mean, but they weren’t friendly. They are there to do their job. Take your order, deliver your order, cook your food. Does this mean that they’re stone?! Noooooo… we had one man, who is one of the nicest and friendliest guys … so he wasn’t bothered by their impersonable nature and still smiled and asked questions to them. By the time we left, they were responding and saying«goodbye». I don’t really have anything to knock them up on! and I don’t have anything to rave about, really… WAIT! I know. The only thing is that for the money you pay, you get some very large portions. that’s a rave.

It takes a lot to get 1 star out of Lizzie G, but Wok in a Box achieved it. It’s prime location makes it a popular tourist fast food joint, this doesn’t, however, mean that the food here is in an way acceptable, even to feed a dying cat. And at £10 for a small greasy portion of terrible ‘Chinese’ food, you’ll be wanting to use that box as a cat coffin. It’ll be the only thing of value that you get from this meal.

Mediocre in terms of the quality of the ingredients. You can get two items from a selection of asian style cooking for £5 in a box. The box looks small but it contains quite a lot of food for your money. The food is basic, tastes fine(if not exactly great) and makes a quick filling lunch.

Popular venue throughout the day! Chinese food galore! All flavoured noodles and toppings. The food counter is fully visible from the road and the seating is throughout the back of the venue. Not exactly quality dining but it is more quantity over quality for the price. Easily situated for a quick on the run meal or if you have a small lunch break or meal budget.

I’ve always been intrigued by this place. It’s open plan design means those saucy noodles of theirs are all you can smell when you walk past. Whether you are a hungry shopper or a hungry clubber, the smell always got me so one night, pre-club, my friends and me decided to visit. It was cheap, cheerful and the selection seemed pretty big. I was immediately disappointed by the lack of vegetarian food. I ended up getting fried rice, prawn crackers and some noodles. The food was utterly bland. The taste definitely did not match the smell and the rice and noodles were oily and left a horribly greasy taste in my mouth. I wasn’t happy. Yes this place is cheap, not it’s not as cheerful as I once thought and no, not worth it at all…

Yuk. That’s all I’ve got to say. Chicken. What chicken? Are you sure it was chicken? Errr, don’t want to know. And my noodles, you seen my noodles? Oh because it was noodles? Ah ok. And the half ton of spices they put on the food made my eyes water, not my mouth. Never again then, especially not for that price.
