The Henry Root is a cute restaurant, with kitschy framed pictures along the walls (and a cheeky Queen Liz in the ladies loo) and cool fish-​shaped water jugs. They do one of the best hot chocolates I’ve ever had! The temperature was just right for me to start drinking it straight away, and it was sweet and creamy without being too sickly. I even had a second cup before we left! We visited for breakfast. I had the avocado, bacon & egg burger (minus the bacon). This was basically sliced avocado and a fried egg in a brioche bun. It was deeeelicious! The avocado was perfectly ripe and the oozing egg yolk soaked into the brioche. This is a lovely relaxing place, even at full capacity, with plenty of space between tables and lots of natural sunlight coming in through the main front windows. The staff are very helpful and friendly too. I’d definitely revisit!

This was the second time I’ve been to Henry Root for a roast lunch on a Sunday and I cannot wait to go again. The food was incredible. Home made Yorkshire puddings and horseradish. and the staff weren’t phased by us having a long, drawn out meal. The staff were lovely and offered their recommendations. The atmosphere is relaxed. Couldn’t recommend enough.

Very nice service, very good food, good price-​point. Happily ate two meals here. I am giving it 5 stars based on what they offer and what is expected in a venue such as this (that is, I gave Le Bernardin 5 stars, but I can’t expect this price-​point to compare to that). My family enjoyed a lovely brunch and a fabulous Sunday Roast: roast beef and Yorkshire pudding. The food was prepared expertly, the portions were generous, and the service, as I said, was lovely. Forget The Goat, go to the Root!

Having spent countless happy hours and evenings at the Henry Root since spring and summer, I really can highly recommend the place.
Mondays they have 25% off wine bottles, and the manager is the best :)

We are exploring London for our 25th. Wedding anniversary. During our week long stay we walked the neighborhood & my wife brilliantly selected The Henry Root! Best meal & service of the week! We started with Passionfruit vodkakini-​we had 3 they were delicious! We enjoyed the fresh, crisp. & very flavorful Vietnamese Shrimp salad! Delicious! We also enjoyed the 5 Spice Duck which was tender & had a very flavorful sauce & delicious Bok Choy! My wife enjoyed the Hake which was flaky & great. For dessert we finished with the Stawberries, meringue & Chantilly cream. Melt in your mouth delicious! Service was outstanding & the interior warm & quaint. Thanks to all for an awesome 2 hour experience! I dine out a lot for business & pleasure & this meal was outstanding!

Great Location – shame about the food. The menu is ambitious and the chef doesn’t deliver. Steaks are tastless, veggies overcooked and fried food greasy. Service is nonchalant.
