My favorite pub in Camden. Good clientele. I never had a bad night here and never had an asshole bartender. Everybody is chatty, friendly, and having a good time. So the bathroom may be gross– I didn’t think it was that bad. It’s a pub for fuck’s sake. Let it go…

Excellent pub with great drinking options. I love spending my free time here. It relieves me from the stress and I can catch up with my friends. The placement is also appropriate for this type of hanging place we can all gather here and have a great night out.

I like playing darts here, also I like the people going to The Good Mixer. If you a new to the town, you can feel the atmosphere of London here: International and so British at the same time. Good beers, reasonable prices and darts. Just bring friends and you will have a good night out.

It smells … you have to watch your possessions like a hawk and men are leary … but sometimes you want a dirty night out. You get lots of locals … and it’s much better on week nights for a chill drink and game of pool rather than when it is packed with drunks on the weekend. It’s lost the magic it apparently had back in the day but maybe it will have it’s time again…

I love this pub, the boyfriend hates it. You are not coming here for quality drinks, and know quite a few people who refuse to drink anything from the pump. Good pool table playing and music with a lively crowd, though it does get a bit much for me on the weekends. During the week, it is a mainly local crowd, very mixed, good times.

Went here on my first night in London last year and loved it. Place is small but has great character(jukebox, pool table, lots of memorabilia and such on walls). I flipped out when I read something that said that Blur used to hang out here(mind you, this was last year, when Blur got back together for a few gigs in the UK, and I was so excited about going to the Hyde Park gigs). Also noted for visiting the Good Mixer are Amy Winehouse and a few other names that I can’t remember at this time. Anyway, cheap drinks when out and about, awesome bartenders and lots of different folks that come in to lounge or to cause a good ruckus(lol…most in good humor). Since I was staying about a tube-station or two away from Camden, this was where I frequented with my classmates and went out with fun memories. Can’t wait to come back and visit. The only downside is the toilets. Does anyone know how to flush that thing? Each time that I went in there, the last person never flushes, and neither can I! Till that gets sorted out, I’d hold on going, or run over to another toilet at another pub.

Dingy, bit of a dive in a good way from what I remember — but that was two years ago, so correct me if I’m wrong! I liked the Good Mixer. Visited there with two friends, one of whom was continuously jizzing in his pants since yes, he was drinking in THEESAMEPUB where Blur used to hang out. He was buzzing so much I ended up getting caught in the hype, and too loved it. Seemed quite cosy, the clientele were fine, the booze was cheap enough and there were enough tables available to huddle around and plan our day. It’s one of those completely impersonal, glossed over places where I have to drink myself silly in order to feel comfortable. I liked the rough-around-the-edges look, which is undoubtedly deliberate since they could presumably afford to transform it into a vacuous trendy bar, but to do that would be a tragedy. Places like this are great because they are straight-up gruff drinking hovvels, and I most certainly wouldn’t have it any other way. They also had a cracking set of tunes on the jukebox from what I recall!

Wow. just looked through the previous reviews and it looks like I got lucky with the whole smell issue! Still, this place looks like it should smell! That’s not to say it’s not a cool place to hang out. Sitting aloft the pool table my friend and I started finding locals who looked like obscured versions of obscure celebrities. Chris De Burgh stood by the door chatting to vampire Jo pesci as i ordered drinks, while the lack of mirror behind the bar had me fooled into thinking I was a vampire for a good ten minutes! The drinks are reasonably priced and the place feels like a grown ups rec centre minus the pinball machine. The juke box is ecclectic and pleasing and OHMYGODCHINESEMARKWALBERG!!! No way! His mate looks like Sammy Davis Junior… and a werewolf… sick, this game just gets better with rum!

The Good Mixer is exactly that. It is a good place to mix it up. This is always my go-to place in Camden as I know what to expect night in and night out here. The jukebox will be playing a good mix of American rock and Punk, drinks well be plentiful and inexpensive, the pool tables will be filled and the crowd here will fit that image. For whatever reason, The Good Mixer reminds me of hanging out in Fullerton, CA downtown filled back alley bars. They both have the similar reputation, similar crowd and alike energy. Not once have I had a bad time here. I’ve brought friends from the States to it and they loved it, brought friends from around the corner and they liked it. If you are expecting a good clean, easy going place to have a tipple, look somewhere else. If you want a good old fashioned rock bar and all it entails, this is it!

Bars like The Redback Tavern and it’s cheapy bevies but vomit stench, got me prepared for the famed Smelly Mixer. I sauntered towards the bar knowing I could handle whatever odour came my way. I took my last breath of smoky fresh air and strutted in, brave as ever. My first lungful came soon after planting my elbows on the bar-top and it was neither good nor bad. All I can conclude is that the Smelly Mixer fixed its stink. Fear not The Smelly Mixer, the bar staff are functionally friendly, the clientele are uniquely cool and the drink are bargain basement. Add good tunes and good location and you’ve got a recipe for success.

I have to take back everything I said! The Stinky Mixer DOESN’T STINKANYMORE!!! I can’t believe it! The GM is still divey and cheap, but you no longer have to hold your breath when you visit. I’m giving it an extra star!

Sometimes local councils throw festivals to celebrate their communities diversity. The best way to experience Camden diversity is to head to The Good Mixer. Everything that makes Camden great is in here. Just think trendy meets, rock, thrash metal, punk, just finished work suits, labourers, weirdos, Unilocalers… They are all here. Why you may ask. Is it because the bar is beautiful? No! As past reviewers have said, the place is quite grotty. Yet The Good Mixer keeps pulling them in, for pool, banter with the locals and REALLY cheap booze. I will be back.

Grotty and grimy, though not nearly as smelly as I’d been lead to believe it would be, The Good Mixer is a spirited classic Camden place to get a really, really cheap drink. Full of «local colour» and an incredibly diverse mix of Camdenites, I had a jolly good pre-sushi drink here with my fellow Unilocalers. The service was fast, friendly and attentive – I had three different smiling bartenders come asking if I’d been served while I was being indecisive about what I wanted to drink. I finally settled on a rum ‘n’ coke(Sailor Jerry’s and Diet Coke, to be precise), and it was the bloody CHEAPESTDRINK I’ve ever gotten in London. An un-measured(and quite heavy) slug of rum topped off by diet Coke in a half-pint glass cost me… are you ready for this… £2.20. TWOPOUNDSTWENTY. A nice stiff drink for an outrageously cheap price… can’t beat it. I have friends visiting from the States next month and I will certainly be taking them through The Good Mixer for a pint. It’s an excellent place for people-watching and great way to give people a crash course in Camden-ness.

Pregnant women, children, the elderly, those with a sensitive disposition, best avert your gaze. My first thought of this bar was that it was one of the grimmest places I’d ever been, though did not actually smell that bad. Then I went to the bathroom(see pic). Behold the world’s most disturbing toilet. So frightening, so scary, it was like a horror movie come to life. Dear God, I’ll have nightmares forever.

How ridic that the last reviewer of this place before me was my friend Noël J, who was in London for a total of four nights in the spring(one with me, and we didn’t go here). What are the chances of that? Ok, let’s say he went to a pub every night other than the night he was with me. That’s say, 2000 to choose from in London each night? In which case, he has over 1000 million choices of three pubs(2000C3 for mathmos is(2000×1999×1998)/3!) But, hang on, to be honest, I’d have been just as surprised if it had been any other pub I’ve been and wanted to review. So that’s say, a choice of 30 pubs? The chances that Noël went to at least one of these thirty is 1 —(1970C3/2000C3) which is about 4%. A quick look at his page says he has only reviewed one pub from his visit. So the chances he reviewed one of the thirty is then 1⁄3 x P(went to 1) + 2⁄3 x P(went to 2) + P(went to three) which is about 2%. But then, the fact that he is the last reviewer of this place means out of those 30, only a few won’t have been reviewed since his review on April 23rd. So it’s less than a 1% chance. WOW So now that’s sorted, what’s the pub like? Well, he put it quite well, did Noël. It’s a good mix. A good mix of high/drunk/weird/hip/trendy/young/normal people. I’ve had a few nights at the Mixer, with only two dodgy moments to speak of. 1. A MASSIVE fight broke out just outside, probably drug-related, involving two gangs and sticks with nails. Scary. 2. I was hugged by a random in the gents. Scary in a different way. Other than that, the beer is good and the music is sound. Aha. Here’s a game. See how many offers of drugs you can get walking to The Mixer from Camden tube. I got 3.

So glad I got to hang out here on my last night in London. Located in the popular Camden area, which I can only compare to P. B here in San Diego, but 100 times better. The Good Mixer was, well… a good mix of the people of London. There were the Punks, dressed in leather with cool hair. There were rough pool players(these jack asses were hitting the balls so hard they were flying off the table) There was the town drunk(older guy who had been there probably all day drinking and talking to himself in the corner) The crackheads(odd couple that would occasionally walk up and speak gibberish to me, sometimes mentioning American band names) The tourists… shit that was my wife and I, but I swear were cool. A good selection of beers, but I stuck with Guinness They had a picture depicting local famous patrons that included Radiohead, Amy Winewhore, Morrisey among others. My wife and I spent a whole afternoon into the night here drinking with Chris R. and having a blast on our last night London. The only reason we left was the fear of missing the last tube. London, I miss you.

The Good Mixer is *so* Camden. It’s a little dingy and grotty, the drinkers are a mix of young indie kids, Camdenites and wannabes and the whole place has that appropriately«cool yet run-down» feel about it, which only Camden pubs do best. The bar is small and nothing special, the interior, as aforementioned is dark and a little worse for wear. As a previous reviewer mentioned, Amy Winehouse has been in here, and when I was in here playing pool with friends, so was she. I’m not a big fan of «trendy» places, I just feel uncomfortable and like everyone is on «show». An OK place to drink if there’s nothing else but it gets a little busy and I don’t think it’s that outstanding.

Located just a stone’s throw away from Camden Town tube station, Good Mixer was once the drinking hole of Britpop legends Oasis and Blur. Nowadays it serves a less star-studded crowd but the theme remains essentially rock’n’ roll with a British flavour. The pub is intersected by a bar which divides the space in two meaning that although quite large, things feel pretty cosy. The crowd in here is a mix of regulars, locals and shoppers all of whom seem incredibly friendly. This includes the bar staff who are polite and chatty and eager to flog some jagermeister. A great venue for a daytime drink or a stop-in about town.

One of Inverness Street’s premier drinking establishments. This bar really has a good mix of people(no pun intended) from euro-punks, market traders, bad pool players, chavs, Japanese girls, indie kids, Amy Winehouse has been known to knock back a beverage or 10 here. open til 1am daily Nearest tube Camden Town
