Oh dear, oh dear… I’m a little shocked that this gem isn’t on Unilocal already, and I hope my friends don’t kill me for letting you all know about it! On Board is slightly strange in that to get there you have to wander down some stairs at the front of a takeaway… but once you get downstairs it is one of the sweetest karaōke joins in London. It’s not posh, but it’s certainly charming. This is why I love it: * When you visit, it’s almost like you step out of the UK and appear in Japan for a couple of hours. * They have 3 rooms, but the owners will let you attempt to squish in together if you want. Or you can hire the whole place if you have enough friends. * Huge range of both Japanese and English songs * The staff are complete sweeties * They have chuhai and other Japanese drinks * In April 2011 they let my friends and I run a ‘charaoke’(charity + karaōke) event. They didn’t charge for the rooms, so we raised loads of money for the relief effort after the Tohoku earthquake and Tsunami. Now I have told you, if I turn up, and there is no room for me to sing due to too many Unilocalers taking over… please be warned that I will be just have to sit on your laps to sing along with you.(Mwahahaha)

Can’t believe I didn’t review Onboard Karaōke sooner, considering we had an absolute ball there last year for my hen party. We had the whole place to ourselves(they only have two rooms), which meant we could have all the yummy food brought down from the Lebanese place upstairs and put in the spare room. The manager/owner Hiro is great fun and can sing a mean Backstreet Boys with you, and the selection of drinks is vast and well-priced. While some other big-name karaōke places seem only intent on ripping you off, Onboard is really fair-priced and has a great selection of songs with comedy visuals on the TV screen too. I promise I’ll be back soon, Onboard! :)
