My fiancé and I went there for lunch. The service was horrible. The waiter was extremely unfriendly and couldn’t even be bothered to explain where the bathroom was. We sat in the non-smoking side and a woman lit up a cigarette right next to us. She was served while smoking and no one said anything. My ordered a pizza and I ordered pasta. The pizza was like a tortilla was sauce, cheese, and 4 slices of uncooked tomato. My pasta was juts spaghetti with canned sauce on it. I make better pasta in 10 minutes at home. I was excited because they had a vegan menu, but the menu was confusing and they didn’t seem to care. The food was horrible. We really didn’t want to eat it, but were so hungry at that point that we choked it down. We also didn’t get much and so had to stop to eat again less than 2 hours later. Pasta with canned tomato sauce does not qualify as good vegan food. Sorry.

Wish to come in the good day, because oh man, there can be some bad days. Day one I come in with a friend of mine after a yoga class for some refreshing smoothie. Everything is amazing! Buzzing sunny yard welcomes us with enthusiastic ‘Hello! How has your day been?’, turned into chatting with the staff and prompt service. Smoothie delicious, cold, vibrant. YUMMY!!! Two days later, still drunk by satisfaction, I am excited since the moment I decide to go Salad Bar. But something changed… The same staff, but no excited ‘Hello!’. Ok. waiting for 20mins for menu, another 20 for smoothie, after us constant reminding. TERRIBLE!!! We even couldn’t get the bill promptly. Very bad experience. Smoothie was delicious — obviously not worth the stress, time, trouble and money.

Alors le seul vrai interet de ce bar, c’est la cour sur laquelle il se trouv, loin du bruit de la ville, petite oasis de paix. Sinon, du point de vue gustatif c’est malheureusement un peu quelconque.

Typical tourist ripoff place disguised as a local spot. Beware! First, the location is great, down a brightly painted little ally in Covent Garden. thats about the only good thing about this place. I am not hard to please but: The food was decent, nothing special and overpriced. I ordered a still water. I got a small .5 Liter bottle and I was blown away when i got the bill £3! but ok its a touristy area. My wife got a tea and when she was finished asked for some hot water. The waite said sure and a few minutes later someone came out of the back and said that we couldn’t get hot water refill but we can buy another tea! HOTWATER!!!

Although it’s so bright and happy, the food here isn’t all that good. I’ve eaten here a number of times. Yes, they have a wide selection of vegan, vegetarian, gf, df, etc, it’s all basically the same: soggy steamed veggies with base. Risotto? Steamed veggies with rice. Pizza? Steamed veggies on dough. Stir fry? Steamed veggies in soy sauce. There’s a lot of tofu and TVP. The breads are really crusty, but not in a good way. They could do much better. The staff also always seem to have no clue what’s going on. I do like the juices though, and they have outdoor«takeaway seating» in the lovely Neals Yard courtyard.

Having passed this place numerous times I set it up so my best friend and his wife(visiting from Eastern Europe), my husband and his best friend could all rendezvous and have a leisurely Sunday late lunch. REALLY bad choice. My husbands inedible spaghetti garlic aolio was 50p tops worth of pasta with olive oil on it and some parsley for 8quid 50. The pianist(who magically sat down to tickle the ivories moments after we took our seats) played loud, throbbing renditions of numbers like theme from Gladiator and Someone like You TWO feet from our table. Acai dessert which I ad really wanted to try was ultimately was forgotten by our waiter-the rest was so, so. They seem to be best at large plates of salmon or chicken with veg in parsley like sauce while breakfasts seem to never be available after 11ish which is odd for London on Sunday. For a little bit more money we could have all done Sunday Roast at Langans. Still, being near the open air was nice, the waiter was very busy(they are under staffed) and they did give me a plaster when my best friend’s wife had a bad blister which was very nice of the kitchen staff. There is a language barrier factor to consider and it seems ideal for a quick snack to go not a sit down meal.

The Vegan Breakfast is «meh» at best. Lacks any flavour, and the potatoes are(with my order) stale on the outside. Better part of the meal was the coffee, fresh orange juice and the sauté veg. Very, very disappointing.

It’s times like these when I should ask for a recommendation. Based on these glowing results, I suggest sticking with salads rather than pizzas. Their pizzas are quite sizeable for the price. However, they don’t travel«to go» that well. The crust was a tad burnt and easily lost while cutting. And the cheese, well, it was a melty unappetizing mess. It’s much better cold than hot.

I really wanted to like this place, especially since I had suggested it to a friend who is having a raw food phase. With a name including ‘salad bar’ you would expect a huge variety of salads and lots of raw options. Now I am aware of a second salad bar located in Neals Yard but it had already closed — perhaps that’s where we should have gone. Either way, we were presented with a menu that had no real salad options and in the end my friend asked for a salad with all the raw veg they had — and was presented with a plate of iceberg lettuce, celery and cucumbers, for which they charged her £6.50. Any given steakhouse will probably have a larger selection of raw salad at a cheaper price. I only had a coffee during our stay but having looked at the menu, I don’t see myself going back.

My heart is happy and my tummy is full all thanks to this tasty little find tucked away in Neal’s Yard. You’ll be pleased to know that it’s not just a creative name — with a fresh array of eight different hot and cold salads, you can mix ‘n’ match to your heart’s desire. There were also a few carnivore-friendly options for the non-rabbit-food eaters out there. But I must pay a special mention to the desserts. There is a cake. A banana cinnamon magic cake. It involves cinnamon, banana and magic, as one could guess. And it’s out of this world. Get a large pot of healthy home cooked food and balance it out with a big slice of cake — all for £6. Done and done.

Whether you’re vegan, vegetarian or carnivore, this place is absolutely worth a visit. I was lucky enough to have my first proper visit to Neals Yard Salad Bar be on a warm and sunny day, and what a visit it was. Tucked away off of the main roads, this place is only really findable or noticeable if you know it’s there. Directly next to where Monty Python was created, the brightly colored buildings and the good looking people of London sipping on Brazilian juices and nomming on veggies makes for gorgeous surroundings. I only had the guava juice here, but I loved it. It tasted like actual fruit, instead of fruit extracts covered in sugar, covered in food coloring. This is the perfect place to visit not only if you’re looking for a healthy alternative, but if you just want a quiet spot to soak up some sun.

When I have had a hard day, and am missing home I’ll pop in here for some home cooked goodness. Their spinach pie is on par with my Mum’s, and that is the highest compliment I can ever give food. This little place, hidden in Neals Yard, is brightly coloured and forever cheerful even with it’s pricey menu. I love the out door seating, making a perfect people watching spot and a comfortable dining alone experience. Never one to miss out on dessert, they have tasty soft serve chocolate and mango ice cream, a little cold for it in this weather but hey… I’ll never turn down a sweet treat. If you do eat here you must have one of their rice flour buns heated up. Seriously tasty and as a snack if you are in the area and hungry they are perfect. Also, out side there is a little wishing tree where you can write messages and hang them up. Very cute indeed.

As I wandered in to Neal’s Yard to enjoy the sun and some healthy food, I was completely perpexed by the Salad Bar, Deli and Juice Bar as three separate entities and was not clear how it all worked. We eventually flagged down a waiter and got a seat and got the consolidated menu. It was very bizarre to me that it is Brazilian-inspired and the waiter was recommending typical Brazilian food although we opted for quiche and salad. The food was good – simple, tasty and light which is what we were looking for. Nothing bursting with flavor and no «oh wow» moments, but a nice place to have a healthy meal and take a break whilst shopping in the hood.

Wow, just wow. The vegan mango soft serve here has been the best thing I have put in my mouth in so long. I ate mine and half of Lizzie’s too. I’d eat yours too, just try and stop me.

Dear Neal’s Yard, I heart your vegan soft serve. You’re the only place I can go in the summer in London to eat heaps of ice cream without impending intestinal distress. You make me feel just like everyone else. And you’re much more tasty than Mr Whippy anyway. I like you. Do you like me too? Circle yes /no Love, Larissa xoxo

Toller Fleck. Ein kleiner unscheinbarer Weg führt in den Hinterhof. Von den bunten Häuserfasaden wird man in ein anderes Zeitalter versetzt. Mit den Strassencafes und Lädchen sehr einladend. Sehr empfehlenswert.

If you’re a vegetarian or vegan in Covent Garden, or there with someone else who is, you could do a lot worse than Neal’s Yard Salad Bar. I’ve been there a couple of times, and was impressed by the large menu of items, all clearly labeled as to whether they’re vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, etc. It’s usually busy, with a take-away bar downstairs, lots of outside seating(some covered, some open), and many tables upstairs overlooking Neal’s Yard. Tables are simple, light-coloured wood, but the interior décor is brightly coloured paints and pictures. Service is good. The food’s far from boring. Some of it is Brazilian/Portuguese-themed. The first time there I had a giant pile of lentils and beans and assorted veg, with some fried banana on the side: delish. The second time I had vegan bruschetta for a starter, and a massive salad I couldn’t finish. You can get vegan burgers that I’ve been told are better than the norm. They have vegan mayonnaise that tastes just like the regular stuff. I’m told the veggie pizza is very good. There’s even a couple of meat options at the back, if you must. My only criticism of this place is that there’s only one toilet, so you often have to queue for it.

Although I’m not ready to give up my high-fat, meaty foods diet, I like to give my digestive system a break every once in a while, by going to Neal’s Yard. This tasty laid back hide-away café serves up a variety of healthy foods and fresh juices. Here you can have a vegan or vegetarian meal or a traditional English breakfast! I love their tasty milkshakes! On a nice sunny day I usually sit outside and eat on the benches that are designed to fit around the plant benches. The atmosphere is playful, the outside of the café is painted purple and orange!

Although this snack bar is located in what I think is one of the cutest and most colourful yards in London, I think that its bar could definitely do a lot better. I recently came down here for lunch with a friend and we both ordered some coffees, chicken filled pastries, and glasses of tap water. The tap water never came, the service was slow, and the pastries were a bit tasteless. After being left unsatisfied, we decided to go for a desert in the hope that it would be a better option. We went for a carrot cake covered in warm chocolate syrup. Little did we know that the carrot cake would taste as though it had come straight out of a long-lasting supermaket cake package and I strongly believe that the chocolate syrup was Nesquik. I was not impressed.

Neal’s Yard Salad Bar make really yummy vegetarian and vegan food. I especially like their take away breads. Well they’re more muffin shaped, which is dangerous because I haven’t managed to get home before scoffing my face full(won’t tell how many I can eat as that would be embarrassing). I go for the Parmesan nutmeg, the spicy cornbread and the ginger rice balls. They’re all vegan and wheat free too. For my comfort food days they have big pots of lentil stews or cheesy pasta dishes. I get a wholesome earthy kind of feeling in the courtyard area and on sunny days it’s best to eat outside or just sit and soak up some vitamin D.
