My husband and I went here a few weeks ago as I had been wanting to try this place. The food is good — not amazing, but good, reliable. My husband’s schnitzel was okay, and my sausage was quite tasty, but not amazing. Apple strudel was also, just okay. The food quality is good, but the flavours are just kind of lacking. I wouldn’t come running back for the food, but the ambiance is fantastic. The décor is so cute and warm, it’s a nice place to have an Autumn or Winter lunch when you’re craving Austrian food and is great for people watching. Our service was quite brusque but efficient, and all in all was a pleasant meal.

The tricky thing about being an ethnic restaurant is that everyone’s idea of what it is to them can be different. Fischer’s isn’t over-the-top in your face Austrian kitsch. Even without the Austrian theme, it is a very pleasant and competent restaurant. Ambience is on the mildly formal side with professional, not chummy, service. Décor is more on the upscale with dark wood paneling and a germanic feel. Most of the expected menu options are there. Portions are medium to generous. As diners we ought to be more creative than capitulating and settling for the Schnitzel… but then it is just so darned good. But there are many other options to choose from ranging from simple Würstchen to fish courses. You need to order sides if you want them, and the ones I had were well-prepared. I have to mention that the Stigel on draft was as good as this beer has ever tasted to me. Recommendation: go here if you are looking for a taste of traditional Viennese or if you don’t care about Austrian, you just want to eat a meal at a very good restaurant.

This place is great. Staff knows me, as I come there frequently. Décor is typically Austrian/German bistro style. Incredible craftsmanship of the dark wood all over the place. Even the bathrooms will give you the feel of having your own space and cleanliness is exceptional. Staff wears excellent uniforms and its superbly professional — always friendly, providing fantastic service. And now lets get to the best aspect — the food. There isn’t one dish I tried that I wouldn’t reorder. They even bake their own bread which they serve with whipped butter. No matter what you will order you will enjoy it — I promise. My favourites are Schnitzel and kasesspatzle. As for desserts, there is a lovely display of cakes and cookies at the entrance, which you can have a peak at if you are not sure what to order. Cakes are delicious as well as other desserts such as ice cream or apple pie, chocolate and hazelnut pudding served with whipped cream. Sometimes I just pop in there for coffee and cake, as the place is open all day long until 11pm. Just simply fantastic place for any occasion. Even had one of my birthday dinners there and got sent a complementary selection of cookies with a Happy Birthday wishes on the plate in dark choco sauce. Loving this place.:))))Worth every penny.

Wonderful Viennese restaurant! Very cosy and«wintery» themed restaurant but still loved the ambience in the heat of the summer. Old worldly, charming and always busy, I really enjoy coming here. Schnitzel is excellent, as is the beetroot and goats cheese salad and excellent wine selection. Look forward to returning!

The décor is borderline better than the food and the food is very good. They have tried to reproduced the settings of an old Austrian restaurant and it’s been successful. The egg breakfasts are very nice and the service is decent although not extraordinary.

The fish was delicious! I had the Sea Bass and my friends had the Hake. Loved the décor and you must check out the bathrooms!

Want a slice of Vienna, then this is the place for you. However be warned the service is often cold and impersonal. The prices are slightly to high for the standard of food. Although might be reasonable if the price included the first class airfare for the food from Austria.

Having written my undergraduate dissertation on Viennese coffeehouses I was irresistibly drawn here for a celebratory family meal. The interior is delightful — inspired by 20s Viennese coffee establishments with great attention to detail which includes Art Deco tiles, newspaper holders and curtains to shield diners from the street just as in the Viennese originals. Sadly just like in the modern Café Central et. al. in Vienna, Fischer’s isn’t quite the home away from home with local gentlemen passing entire days at its tables. But what it is is a fantastically delightful restaurant with a great ambiance. My sweet mustard herring was a great warm up for the delicious schnitzel, which I had with anchovies and egg. I’m not sure about the addition of anchovies to this already strongly flavoured dish but the execution was flawless. The apple and cinnamon strudel which followed was absolutely out of this world. We had a slightly dubious Sancerre with the starter which incidentally felt odd quaffed from the heavy glasses /although I imagine this is an accurate element of the aesthetic. The Piedmont red which followed was superlative however. Service was good — although it should be pointed out to some staff to serve the older ladies before their daughters… Especially if they have all ordered the same dish. A lovely Portuguese waiter took over our table mid way through and was extremely helpful. I also received a happy birthday on my strudel plate! Win! Will definitely be returning ;)

incredible service, charming atmosphere and tasty food We booked reservations and were delayed almost 25 minutes due to traffic. However, the staff was very friendly and understanding and sat us in a beautiful corner booth which was very picturesque. The restaurant ambiance is incredible. The décor was charming and the atmosphere was very warm and welcoming. What stood out most to me was the incredible service. Our main server was very busy so our first server, who was initially only responsible for serving us drinks, took care of us all night. He was so friendly and helpful, making valuable suggestions and helping us decipher the menu. We began with Brotchen, which my boyfriend convinced me to get as it’s outside of what I would normally order. However, despite being skeptical of the combined flavors herring and beet and caviar and egg, I was pleasantly surprised. The flavors combined nicely and the portion was small so it wasn’t too much of the same thing. We ordered Wurstchen for our main courses, which came with potato salad and sauerkraut. I thought the food was good but the delivery was fancy. Afterall it was just sausage. We had strudel for dessert which had sweet cheese and raisin. It was SO good. overall this place was very good and deserves a visit

I must admit I had no idea what kind of restaurant I was going to(and apparently neither did my mum!). Set towards the north end of Marylebone High Street, Fischer’s looks almost like a fancy French restaurant, until you notice the stuffed animal heads… It’s actually German and specialises in Schnitzel and Bratwurst. We started with some Brotchen, rye bread with various toppings which were delicious, they’re small but pack a lot of flavour, a couple of bites per piece, a nice opener to a meal(given the size of the schnitzel, also a good size for a starter). I chose to go with the wurst, choosing two different ones, served with potato salad and sauerkraut. My mum did the same after reading ‘pork, with paprika and chives’ and thinking it was a piece of pork as opposed to sausages. Dad went for a veal schnitzel which was huge! Everything was cooked wonderfully, the sausages having a clean snap as you cut into them, the schnitzel pounded out thin and beautifully fried. Just a note, the schnitzel isn’t served with anything but a sauce so you may want to order a side, however it is HUGE so share the side with a friend!

Great ambience, reasonable prices and good food. Service is a bit lacking but staff are accomodating. As good as it gets with German/Viennese cuisine in London

As an Austrian in London, there aren’t many places to go when you get Schnitzel craving. The Wiener Schnitzel in Fischer’s is excellent(except for their insistence to offer it with sauce, just tell them you want it without). Very nice, competent, and helpful staff. Highly recommended!

I was here for a breakfast so lunch /dinner experience could be a bit better, but for breakfast experience was just a-ok. I think I would have expected a lot more given what Delaunay and Wolseley are like. Interrior is not as grand as Wolseley and not as cute as true Viennse café. Food for breakfast is extremely limited and services are not as professional as other venues. Assorted baked goods are cute but they are extremely small and they are all very sweet pastries — I would expect a bit more combination of sweet and savoury to be a true breakfast basket. Eggs in a bowl is true Viennese experience but glass /eggs ratio seems a bit off and very hard to eat. Toast that comes with is very average — white bread that does not have very distinct flavour nor texture… I would expect to see at least one quality that would be outstanding but menu selection, food quality, service, interrior… they are all just average and not very thoughtthrough… I would either go to normal breakfast café or go hit one of their other venues including Café Zedal. It is not a bad experience but nothing too special.

It took me a while to digest this place before I could write a review. Sounds a bit affected I know but the place really polarised me. Inside it is immaculate. Finished to perfection. The food again was superb. A little heavy as most people comment, but then that’s the cuisine. I felt the starters outshone the mains; chicken liver, beef broth and dumplings, something that translated to heaven and earth(black pudding and something?) and smoked salmon toast, all really really good. Then we all pretty much had schnitzels with the extras, very nice. The service just let it down, maybe we got a bad waiter. Gunther was it? Or Heinrich? Bob? Anyway he was a twitchy motherf*cker and I hope you don’t get him. It was as if because we weren’t over 75, dripping in pearls(its Marylebone don’t you know?!?) then we weren’t worthy of prompt service. 45mins between starters and mains. Coffee’s bought out before dessert? I sound like dick, but when you’re spending £60+ per head it matters. Despite all that, I will go back. Hopefully I don’t get Ernst serving me again. ps. the German sparkling was excellent, as were a couple of the rieslings, when in rome.

This venue has a very nice atmosphere and décor: it reminds me a Viennese coffee house… Came to dinner with the family. The service was very good, but unfortunately, the menu items can be hit or miss. Maybe I am a fussy Austrian foodie(I am married to an Austrian from Salzburg) but the biggest disappointment was the schnitzel. The veal option was not available) and it came covered in some brown sauce(!!?) My wife did not like her starter at all(Beef Broth with Cheese Dumplings). The other items we ordered were very good, namely the Käsespätzle with Bacon and the Lamb Gulash. From the dessert menu, the Topfenstrudel was very good, but my kids were disappointed with the the Kaiserschmarrn. All in all, I think we would come back but not for dinner(Linda J.‘s review seems to have captured it perfectly.)

I have been living in London now for about three months and had a huge craving for schnitzel. Lone behold a coworker and veteran of food in the W1 district led me to Fischer’s. When you first walk in you get blown away at the size of the venue, great for large parties or functions. The customer service was top notch instantly when greeted and sat. Of course I went with the perfectly crispy chicken schnitzel that was drizzled with a lemon sauce, hit the spot of what I had been craving for months, and for sides we went with the spetzel and creamy mash, both were buttery deliciousness! We concluded our meal with espresso & ice cream along with a berry tart. Fantastic way to hit that German Austrian itch! Must try and bring friends! Prices were moderate for the postal code.

We read so many reviews on Fischers which is in our neighborhood that we were excited to try it. Food: We ordered the beef soup to start which was very flavorful, but a bit heavy. For our entrees we ordered the sausages(you can choose two) which were both delicious and came with potato salad along with the tafelspitz which was good, but too fancy. I was hoping it would be more like the traditional tafelspitz you get in Austria. We also ordered a side of the gem salad which was a perfect little salad. Drinks: We ordered two glasses of prosecco. Price: 66.60GBP for two people. FYI — They added a dinner cover of 3.50GBP which I haven’t seen living in London yet. I asked the server what it was and he explained it’s a charge for being there for dinner. They do it for lunch as well. Ambiance: The décor was very old world swanky inside and I love the big clock in the middle. The crowd was a bit older. Service: The service friendly, informative and quick. Would I go back? Yes, but probably not for dinner again. The food is too heavy. We were so full and had no room for dessert. Next time I would like to go back just for coffee and to try the kaiserschmarrn.

Amazing place, feels like you are dining on a very fine Austrian restaurant on the Titanic back in the turn of the century. Great food and service.

A nice viennese gem in the heart of Marylebone. Whether you are interested in coffee(Wiener Kaffee …) and viennoiseries, Brötschen and herring for brunch, or dinner, Fischer’s got your mitteleuropäische cravings covered. I went for dinner, had cured salmon and Würstchen(sausages with sauerkraut and onions). I finished with Topfenstrudel(quark cheese strudel with raisins). A real treat. I’ll make sure to be back and sample some more
