Churreria Espanola

A pretty damn solid café. I’ve lived in Bayswater for a little over three years now but only visited this place last weekend for brunch. The missus and I went on Sunday around 10:30am. It wasn’t too crowded at that point but I’ve walked past when every table is full. The food is great. It’s basic but flavorful and the portions are substantial. I had a Spanish omelet on toast and the lady had scrambled eggs with salmon on toast. They also offer other egg dishes, the full English breakfast and a range of lunch staples. The waiting staff were very friendly and attentive. The value is also quite good. All in all this is a great neighbourhood restaurant. I will definitely return.

Ever since going to Granada, Spain I have been lusting after CHURROS and now that I have found an entire café devoted to it I was more then pleased. They also have a decent breakfast serving as well as other delicacies such as paella, salmon
I’ve been here a few times because its on my way to uni~ every time I go here its definitely an experience. The waiter will continually pester you to order more food but I don’t mind hearing the entire menu.
The churros themselves are quite reasonably priced 40p per churro and £2.50 for the dipping hot chocolate. I don’t like the fact that they are not made to order so make sure you go during a peak/​busy time, perhaps Sunday lunchtime I would say.

The patio seating is fantastic, and I love that they offer churros here, but the staff were so rude!
First, they told us that we might not be able to eat there because ordering beverages and churros was too little (I would understand if it were insanely busy, but there were quite a few empty tables). Afterwards, the person who appeared to be in charge on the floor, began to yell at a staff member in front of us, and another staff member accused me of giving him a dirty look (?). It was baffling to say the least.
The churros: disappointing. They were cold. The chocolate was just OK. If I want churros, I’ll go to the stall in Portobello market.
If it were not for the patio, this place would not even get any stars.

While i can not comment on churros, the experience was disappointing. Hot chocolate was the equivalent of almost set box pudding and yesterday’s croissants microwaved to diminish the fact they may be bordering on staTle. Sorry to say, staff was a little surly too boot.

I didn’t even know that Churreria was a word but… okay! I made a quick stop here to get some churro takeaway.
These churros were of a different variety than what I’m used to, in that they’re wrapped up like half-​pretzels and meant to be dipped in (as opposed to filled with) chocolate. In the states, churros sold by street vendors are ususally these fat hollow tubes which are very soft & chewy. The churros at Churreria Espanola were a little crunchy but still quite nice. They charge you £1.90 for the chocolate and 30p for each churro.
I definitely want to go back here sometime for some spanish tapas or paella. As far as churros go, however, the best one I’ve had in the UK so far comes from the Brazilian stand in Greenwich Market, which are the fat tube-​style churros with chocolate sauce pumped in.
Quick update: the leftover chocolate ‘drink’ has cooled down in my fridge for a few hours, and actually firms up to make a damn yummy chocolate pudding. I totally shouldn’t have eaten all of that, but [insert slutty Cartman voice] whatevah… I’ll do what I want!

Amazing full English breakfasts, and tasty Spanish coffee. Keep an eye out for the specials board for tasty lunchtime meals (I had an amazing and generous portion of Spanish chickpea and chorrizo stew once, and it was delicious).
The Churreria is best enjoyed in the summer, when plenty of tables are packed onto the wide pavement, and quickly fill up with people.
It’s not open in the evenings during winter, closing at about 6ish.
And do, as other reviewers have suggested, try out their churros one day!

Muy pequeño este bar español Churrería Española en Londres. Para comer rápido y bien si te encuentras por esta zona, no para realizar grandes desplazamientos. Excelente calidad en sus churros con chocolate y tapas a precios muy económicos. Supongo que hubiera tenido una mejor impresión de este restaurante español en Londres si hubiera estado sentado en alguna de sus mesas de su terraza exterior, pero con buen tiempo. Sol, cuando???

I had a nice time at Churreria Espanola. I had the vegetarian paella, and my boyfriend, who is incredibly boring, had a steak with chips. I stole one of his chips, and they were nice :) The steak my boyfriend had was quite small though, and not cooked how he had asked it to be cooked. However, I enjoyed my paella. The rice was really tasty and the vegetables were sauteed very nicely. I would have liked it to be spicy, as I’m a heat-​freak, but paella isn’t normally meant to be spicy, right?
We also each had a Chocolate Espanola, which was a thick hot chocolate drink, which I really liked, but my boyfriend couldn’t have it all. It’s VERY rich, so if you’re not a huge chocolate fan, I would advise you stay away and choose any other of their hot drinks (they also carry a normal drinking chocolate for less money).
As we went to a «churreria», I just had to have some churros. They’re 30p each, but they ARE quite small. I expected that, considering the price. But its a nice little treat to have one or two at the end. I wasn’t completely happy with it, since it was cold, but I love cinnamon sugar, so I still thought it was okay.
The prices are very reasonable, our bill came out to just over £20 with all of that in it. The food came out quickly too :)

What a humungous plate of seafood paella for under seven of your English sterlina. Totally satisfying and super chewy scallops which sat in rich saffron-​coloured rice and left me totally stuffed and unable to move for a full 17 minutes. Spanish omelette again very well sized, although well done equated to a little burnt around the edges. Juice from concentrate but good value nonetheless and a friendly, family feel.
Quick history lesson alert: Churreria — a seller of Churros.
Definition: A churro is Spain’s answer to the donut, a crunchy, deep-​fried sweet snack that resembles the horns of the churro sheep. They are popular not only in Spain, where they are often served at breakfast, but also in Mexico, and several other Latin American countries. North Americans are not strangers to churroschurroschurros, which are often found in amusement parks and at county fairs.

This is a small café at the junction of Queensway and Westbourne Grove which serves a perfectly cooked full english breakfast, excellent coffee and a range of spanish dishes. It is quite small inside with quite basic furniture and décor, but the staff really are wonderful and the coffee is excellent. I often find myself ordering an unusual spanish dish at the bequest of one of the waiters and am rarely disappointed. Great for breakfast or lunch, rather than dinner. Not too pricey and excellent food and service.

Whenever I have walked past Churreria Espanola it has always been packed, both inside and also people sitting outside enjoying their coffee and food. It’s one of those places that I’ve been meaning to visit but never got round to it. Then last week my friend told me that they specialise in churros (Spanish long doughnut usually filled with with either chocolate, apple or custard) and that was enough of a reason to drop in.
I certainly was not disappointed, my churros was delicious and greasy like some places. I even sat outside as I had a lovely hot chocolate to keep me warm.
The only problem I have with lovely, relaxed Spanish restaurant is that it’s a bit too close to home and I might be in danger of developing a churros addiction.

Churreria Espanola is my favourite local café. Bayswater has lots of nice places to eat and drink but this place is my favourite for a quick coffee. It’s at the end of Bayswater road, just before the Porchester centre gym and spa.
The café is fairly unremarkable in décor, there are some tables inside and a quite a few outside, making it nice in the summer. They sell fairly traditional café breakfasts and sandwiches which are nice and good value. However, the reason to go are the incredible churros (thin spanish tubular doughnuts), good coffee, and really friendly service. If you live in the area, or are about nearby for shopping I’d reccomend it as a good place to to take a break.
