I ordered a baguette. It was advertised as sourdough on the menu. However the baguette which I was served definitely was NOT sourdough, just ordinary bread. In addition, the fillings were measly and the portion small. I also ordered a smoothie, which had an overpowering mint flavour, as though they had put in some artificial mint flavouring rather than juiced or processed fresh mint. All in all, quite poor for what you get.

I’ve always been attracted by the fancy cakes in their display window, but never having needed a cake that large before I hadn’t really stepped in, until some friends strongly suggested that I try them out.
The first time I took home an assortment of pastries. The choux pastry — eclairs etc were excellent. The cakes? I’ve had much better.
I returned another day for Coffee and a snack. Make no mistake — all their savoury items are puffs and pies — so high carb, high fat. I asked for the sausage roll and the owner /​manager recommended the beef and aubergine puff. The sausage roll was typical British sausage — not very heavily flavoured, pleasant. The beef and aubergine is a combination I have never tried before and cooked in a beautiful blend of spices — almost like a curry puff.
Today I stepped in just for a coffee takeaway and the owner recommended I try his salt beef — White/​brown bread /​bagel.
Now this was no Reuben’s, it was more chunky than shredded/​pulled, but very well flavoured and very soft. Served with mustard and gherkins.
The coffee is excellent.
So really, ordering at cake create is best if you know what their better items are and which ones work for your personal taste buds. The staff is very friendly and helpful, don’t be shy in asking them for recommendations.
They do have a few tables outside and it’s a nice non-​chain coffee break to take before/​after shopping in Queensway/​Whiteleys

Nous avons profité d’une pause gourmande pour tester ce salon de thé en plein cœur du quartier de Notting Hill.
J’avoue que ce qui m’a attiré ce sont les magnifiques cake design en vitrine et les tables en bois brut. J’adore les tables en bois brut. Ça donne tout de suite une atmosphère cosy et just like home. (bah oui j’ai une table en bois brut :-p)
Du coup nous voilà en train de choisir une boisson chaude et une pâtisserie. Le choix est très grand et ce né fut pas chose facile!
Finalement j’ai opté pour un strudle aux pommes (réminiscence de mon enfance) avec un thé et un palmier avec un café pour le chiwi d’amour :-)
On a tout deux été déçu de nos choix finalement. Moi parce que c’était trop sec. La pâte était un zou comme de la pierre quand même… Et lui parce que finalement un palmier, bah c’est juste un palmier… Rien de très excitant !
Ce qui est dommage c’est qu’on était très tenté par le reste mais il n’y avait même pas de noms de tous les gâteaux et encore moins d’explication …
Sinon l’endroit est sympa. Lumineux et confortable. A noter qu’il font aussi des spécialités salé pour la pause déj !
Et les prix sont très raisonnable.

I go in often to grab a coffee and croissant in the morning or during the day. It’s corner location is ideal for watching the world go past — if only the seats were a fraction more comfortable.
They have a range of hot and cold food, pastries, breakfast and a number of ethnic delights — just pop in and chill in the sunshine ;)

Favourite local coffee shop. Usually have a hot savoury pastry and a coffee, nice treat. The interior is nice too, it’s mostly chairs without backs though — but it is always clean with lots of light wood and nice large windows. Friendly staff. Sitting outside can be nice too. Have never ordered a cake from here but they always look good and the prices seem competitive.

I am happy as the bake Gluten free biscuits.
They have some of their cakes on display which are amazingly detailed.
A great place to sit and kill time, or watch the world go by.
