If you arent a south african dont bother turning up. thats how we felt when we arrived. not particularly cheap or friendly.

This pub used to rock under the old managers, but now it’s awful. The quality of the food has declined so much I’d be embarassed to serve it. They’ve managed to lose all the old regulars (including the staff) because of their rudeness. The events happen once in a blue moon rather than once a month or more. The new managers seem to have come in & expected the pub to run on the good reputation it had before, without making any effort themselves. And it shows! Steer clear!

This is a South African pub, but more with an Afrikaans flavour where you can hear this language every time you go there. They sell Castle and Windhoek lager and you can always have the Afrikaans national bevy, a Klippie ‘n’ coke.
Now and again they have top Afrikaans singers performing on «one off» visits and you have to book, and pay, for those evenings. It really gets crowded then.
Also, if you are English. never go there when the boks are playing the Lions, you could well be the only rooinek there and may be disappointed at the cheers when the boks win.
