Lets face it, when you are starving you will eat almost anything but if you had the choice you would probably avoid somewhere that looks like a prime suspect for ‘Ramsay’s Kitchen Nightmares’ or ‘Restaurants from Hell’. It looks a bit grubby and is very cramped inside. Me and my boyfriend had a craving for chicken burgers a few weeks ago and were passing by. Since it was the only place between there and our house and the urge for chicken burgers was steadily rising we decided to give them a try. Bad choice. The burgers themselves were so processed that they were like soggy polystyrene. Disgusting. I love chicken. And the biggest insult to a chicken lovers taste buds is processed chicken. I reckon the packet they came from would probably document the percentage of chicken to be around 30% chicken or something criminal like that. I’m not sure about their other options but I’d rather go hungry than get another chicken burger from here.

Paolo Pizza is a bit of a horrible looking joint alongside Seven Spices, Nazaams and a Bill Hill. It’s italian colour theme is fair enough, but it looks dated and really is in need of a new look if it is going to entice the students in Woodhouse. I waited a good ammount of time for my pizza here, and I was starving. Normally, when you’re that hungry, anything would do, and although I ate my peperoni pizza, it was incredibly greasey. Credit to them, of all the pizza takeaways I’ve had in my time, it looked and tasted slightly different, I’d put that down to the herbs and the tomato sauce. I really think they could do quite well. Though it is essentially, just a pizza, I think that a distinguishable taste is important in this market. If it only weren’t so disgustingly greasey…

Woodhouse Lane is located in the centre of all things«student»! With the Uni, Hyde park, the City centre and Headingley town only a wee walk away, Paolo Pizza have picked the right spot for a takeaway joint! With the city thriving on club night and boozing nights out, a takeaway is the official way to finish such a night. Paolo Pizza is great if you are looking for some cheap, quick, greasy food to complete your evening. The menu is vast with pizza’s, fish and chips, donner meats, deserts, pasta dishes, southern friend chicken and garlic breads so has all the greasy must haves! The menu offers some good meal deal’s if you are ordering for a group of you. Examples included 2 pizzas, garlic bread, onion rings, coleslaw and drink for just £12(bargain!) and smaller deals such as Burger, chips and drink for £3.50 which works out cheaper than a Mcdonalds, and delivered straight to your door. The food is okay however drips with grease and looks very thrown together. Nevertheless is a perfect cheap offer if you just need a greasy fix after a night out, while watching the footie or for a girly night in with a chick flick!
