Love this bar. You can start in the little side bar which is cozy and intimate and work up to the roof terrace in the course of a night Food is great in brasserie and has a vegan menu on request

Graduate? Promotion? Get signed? Have some very special clients over from the far east to finalise a massive international ‘business’ deal? This is just the place for you! Why leave anything to chance on your big day? Just book in, leave your credit card with the waiter and indulge in Michelin accredited goodness. One time I was here I ended up chatting with a nobel peace prizeholder(a fellow Bangladeshi) and an ex vogue cover model. Not even kidding. Food and drinks are consistently great, as one would expect, service is likewise(from memory) can’t wait to book my master’s grad dinner this december.

Two weeks on and I still firmly believe it has to be the best meal I have ever had out. The combination of the incredible wine with perfectly presented food, balanced acidity and crisp flavours, and just a beautiful menu, with everything else that the place has going for it is a massive winner. We reserved a table on the ground floor(In the brasserie, I think, but downstairs) by the fish pond. We ate off the Sunday lunch menu, which changes regularly. It is such a relaxing place, and by feeling that you are almost outside, but warm, Ubiquitous Chip even goes so far as to almost trick us that Summer is possible in Glasgow. We settled for a Muscadet to start with, and got wine by the glass to follow, which was in immaculate condition, and so nice how you get your own little carafe to top your glass up with, instead of just a measured, overly-full glass! Not only is their wine list outstanding, but these little things of service help you appreciate it so much more. While I’m talking about drink, we had a sparkling red wine with dessert which blew my mind, and then a nice coffee to round things off with cute little chocolates and set bramble(?) sweets. The food is more difficult to talk about because I’ve left it so long to write this review(sorry; things have been busy and need to do the place justice). My partner’s food looked incredible too, and he went for a chicken and possibly venison dishes? The stars of my entire meal, were the courgettes. Does this sound funny to you? Then you need to try these courgettes. They were small, and packed with flavour. Cut down the middle, but left attached at the top. Their light but(what’s a better word for mushy?!) .soft? texture created a whole base for the dish, and their depth of flavour showed me just how delicious food could be. Revolutionary for me. I’m going to plant courgettes and harvest them when they’re teeny tiny and cook them slowly in the hope that one day I’ll come close to what the chef did on that day. A big deal over a few courgettes? But then again, maybe you haven’t had them like that. Everything else about the food was delicious, and the surprise amuse-bouches made us feel extra special(they’re for everyone, but they’re brilliant). Sorry for this novel of a review(half of which was about courgettes). I haven’t even talked about the exceptional service, and how they balance complete professionalism with friendliness, which is a real art. I should also say that I’ve had a few pints in the different bars that they have, which are also fantastic.(Different occasions though!!) This is truly a special place.

I had never eaten in The Chip despite having lived in Glasgow a whopping four years and knowing 5 members of staff there, including the pastry chef at one point! So, when my boyfriend’s family offered to take us there for his graduation, I was ecstatic! We were a party of eight, and they accommodated us smoothly and easily. The service was great and we started with a bottle of prossecco to toast the graduate! We all had starters, I had the asparagus which was tasty but not too filling, a bread basket wouldn’t have gone amiss as we were all starving by that point. The flavors were great though, and i think everyone else loved their starters as well. For the main I had the special fish with corn and gnocci, which was out of this world! I had to have dessert of course and got the white chocolate mousse with rhurbarb fool and pistachio crumble, which was the perfect way to round off the night. Their graduation menu in the Brasserie is around 26 pounds for three courses, which is actually a pretty decent deal given the restaurant’s reputation! The restaurant is more expensive, but I actually prefer the twinkly, fairy-lit, plant-filled, outdoorsy feel of the Brasserie to the darkness of the downstairs restaurant. We had an exceptional time at the chip with great food and service, I’d recommend it highly to anyone looking for a special meal!

Had a great time at my first Unilocal Brunch Club here today. Having not enjoyed my visit here 2 summers back, I wasn’t sure want to think, but I knew Ubiquitous Chip was a Glasgow Legend. On a warm/sunny day, the upstairs section quite literally turns into a Greenhouse. I was in my element, warm for once! The staff were great and really attentive, offering to take everyones coats on arriving, as well as taking a drinks order. For such a large group, I thought it was all really smooth, everyone’s food arrived at roughly the same. I had 2 americanos with rather addictive biscuits and the scottish breakfast. To the dismay of others, without the puddings! Oddly, my favourite bit was the tomato relish it came with, although the potato scone was also incredible. It was really poofy to begin with but deflated when you opened it.

Wunderschönes Restaurant. Leider sehr oft ausgebucht! Das Essen war sehr lecker und raffiniert. Der Lachs war ein Traum, die Jakobsmuscheln noch besser! Die Weinkarte ist sehr gross. Ein Muss für jeden Besuch in Glasgow!

Brunch awesome-ness at the Chip! Arrived into the very bright and slightly tropical feeling brasserie, to a sea of lovely Unilocal faces. I hadn’t eaten here before *hangs head in shame*, so was excited to try out their brunch. Love the surroundings in here, lots of greenery and cool fish tanks. Had a lovely fresh orange juice and ordered the Ramsay’s of Carluke black pudding, bacon, spinach, poached egg and hollandaise with some toast on the side. The black pudding dish was incredible. Two slices of juicy bacon, two massive pieces of delicious black pudding, lovely wilted spinach, perfectly poached eggs and super tasty hollandaise sauce. The toast was nice and crunchy and came with some soft butter. The staff were attentive from the beginning, taking our coats and making sure we had water. Didn’t manage a dessert or coffee because I was so full, but instantly regretted this. Can’t wait to go back and explore the rest of their menu. Will most definitely leave space for dessert next time.
