I really love this place. I have always had amazing food & been treated very well by the staff. I have had the vegetarian mixed veg in tomato sauce & rice which was really flavoursome. Last time I was there I had the mixed grill, which was just gorgeous. Lots of choice of meat, lovely sauces & yummy bread to go with. I also recommend the deserts here. I have had the rise ice cream & the amaretto cake. So delicious & bursting with flavour. The seating area is great for groups & been as a group & as a couple. The place is clean & modern, but also very comfortable. 5 stars

We had such a lovely lunch when we visited Persia last week. My boyfriend and I both had the tomato/olive/bread starter which was delicious. I then had the bq burger which was really tasty. My other half had a chicken kebab with an amazing never ending flat bread. I’m sure we will be back again soon as it was really good value.

Very cool Persian Restaurant on Great Western road in Glasgow! My boyfriend and I have been wanting to try some Persian cuisine in the UK for a while now and what better time than the Persian new year? I am Persian and live in LA where it’s full of authentic Iranian cuisine so I thought the food may not be as good as the restaurants I’ve been to at home… I was greatly mistaken! When we arrived we were seated right away at a booth. The restaurant has two stories and was really homey and clean. Authentic Persian memorabilia all over the walls made me feel at home too. The food was EXCELLENT! I ordered a fish dish that came with a spinach rice and veg & Craig ordered chicken kabob with saffron rice. Both were full of flavor and well plated. I also ordered a yogurt with shallots called mosteh moosir & the house salad which was packed with olives, figs, veg and a little too much goat cheese for my liking drizzled with yummy balsamic glaze, which both were very delicious as well. The service was fine, never overbearing which I like & friendly. Overall I have to say very good experience and would visit a second time.

A friend and I headed to Persia for food, tempted by their lunch menu. Having never experienced Persian food before, we went with open minds. At £9.95 for two courses, it made for a fairly inexpensive meal. We hoped for good things but, ultimately, left feeling unsure of just how authentic the whole experience was. From the onset, things weren’t so good. We sat down to dirty cutlery. After ordering drinks, my friend received her glass with lipstick stains around the rim. So whilst, we were welcomed warmly, we were apprehensive considering the problems thus far. Ever the optimists, we stuck with Persia until the bitter end. The menu seemed promising and we were hoping the food would be the clincher. I ordered the Baba Ganoush to start which came with nothing for dipping so I went for some naan on the side. Both our starters were ready before the naan so there was quite a wait for it. I waited patiently until… naan! What a huge naan with lovely little poppy seeds on top. And so I dipped. I dipped and I dipped. Now, I love me some Baba G. My local greek restaurant, Mediterranea in Stirling, makes a mean Baba Ganoush. — Just heavenly and smooth and perfectly smokey. Exactly how it should be! I once asked them how they make it and, in all seriousness, they told me that they take the inside of a fire. This amazed me and confused me in equal measure… but back to Persia! In comparison, their Baba Ganoush fell flat. It was just a bit… gloopy and lacking in the real POW of that signature smokey flavour. If we’re sticking with onomatopoeia, I’d say it was more of a disappointing PLOP than a mouthwatering POW. Onward to main course and I had the Zereshk Polo with Chicken. If that puzzles you like it puzzled me, here’s what it says on the menu; ‘Tender Juicy saffron chicken on a bed of fragrant Persian rice mixed with forest berries.’ The rice was delicious, it really was. I loved the fruity, fragrant flavours. For me, this was the highlight of the meal. The chicken on the bone came in a bowl and slathered with sauce. The sauce was lacking in flavour and the chicken was a little awkward to eat what with the saucy bowl it resided in. The delicious rice truly was the show-stopper! And there it was, just as I’d finished. A single solitary small black centimetre of hair just resting on the chicken bone. Persia, as much as I’d like to, we just can’t be friends.

Okay so before I start talking about Persia I want to make it known that I have never eaten Persian cuisine before, so I am only basing this review on what I thought of the food… I have no clue if this is how it’s supposed to be served. So if you are a big fan of Persian please don’t take this review as gospel. The interior is pretty nice but nondescript, there were tables dotted around with really nice cream leather chairs and a few booths. My favourite feature was definitely the hookahs and tea pots on the wall. It is perfectly lovely surroundings for an early Saturday night bite. The staff gave off a really odd mixed vibe — it took ages for them to come and take the order(even a drinks order) and later a bowl of ice cream and latte seemed to take forever to arrive. However once the food was ordered both the starter and the main arrived so fast, probablywithin ¾ minutes. Then after dessert and coffee they were super fast in getting us out the door. They were never rude and very helpful in suggesting dishes for me to try but quite stand offish. Let’s talk food — I had never eaten any of these dishes before and have nothing to judge them against. To start with I went for the Dolmeh, which is grape leaves stuffed with rice, split peas, tarragon, parsley and coriander. It was 4 little parcels stuffed with a lovely paste made up of these ingredients, it was a really lovely starter and I would definitely order it again because it was so flavoursome. For my main I considered a few options — the Salmon Plate, the Lamb Shank but in the end I was talking into trying the Ghaimeh Bademjaan — which is diced lamb with chana dal prepared with Persian cinnamon in a light tomato sauce with baby aubergine served with white Persian saffron rice. I wasn’t really sure what to expect with this dish but it was okay — there was lots of Lamb but it was quite tough and chewy, the chana dal(similar to lentils) were lovely, there were lots of aubergine which were served in giant chunks(I left most of this). It was a pretty nice dish but not something I would order again. I also ordered a plain Nan, which was absolutely mammoth — I could have worn it as a hat! It was thin, crispy and pretty dry so there wasn’t much flavour. The chips were actually my favourite dish — they were frozen and had a sort of batter on them which was so good… due to my diet I could only indulge in a few. Throughout the meal the desserts were on full display in the cabinet by the bar and holy moly they looked amazing — I have no clue what most of them were but they looked amazing. In the end I opted for the Persian Ice Cream as I didn’t want to go crazy on sugar, 1 word… YUM! The ice cream was flavoured with saffron, rosewater, lemon juice with pistachio pieces. It was tasty and creamy — fortunately I managed to resist indulging too much and only had one scoop. All in all I probably wouldn’t go back here because I wasn’t that into it — however it is worth a try because it might be your thing.

On the Sunday of the British Cycling Championship we managed to bag a parking space on the Great Western Road despite the whole of Glasgow being utterly rammed with racing fans. After a quick show of hands it was decided to give Persia a try for dinner. We were so close it would have been rude not to. Our original intention was to go for a main course only, but minds quickly changed when we spied the most amazing looking naan flatbread on a neighbouring table. We didn’t regret the change of heart and ordered a couple of dips to go with it. I’m not really a fan of aubergine but when turned into a dip by the folk at Persia its pretty delicious. I could say the same for the hummous. The main courses well all very colourful and nicely flavoured with warm spices that were in no way ‘hot’ spicy. The menu had a generous number of vegetarian choices, so I was in my element. I opted for a dish called Dolmeh Combo which included stuffed green pepper and a rice mix in vine leaves. Very tasty and plenty of variety on the plate. If I have one regret its that I hadn’t read reviews of Persia on Unilocal.Had I done so I’d have known about the cracking 5pm websites 20% discount. Next time! *Nut Allergy Information* A word of caution for nut allergy sufferers, our aubergine dip arrived with unexpected walnuts on top, and the colourful saffron rice was topped with pistachios and almonds. When we realised our booboo in not mentioning a nut allergy, they couldn’t have been nicer about it. A saffron rice without nuts appeared as if by magic just seconds later. Now thats great service. Persia is well worth a try if you fancy something a little different.

Went to Persia last night for my Dad’s birthday dinner and we were treated to a banquet. The food was amazing, the spices just gave the lamb and chicken flavours I’d never tasted before. I’m living in New York, and would find it difficult to think of a restaurant I’ve been to there that matches this one for quality of food, friendly and efficient services, and a designer but relaxing ambience. Top marks, I’ll be back next time I’m over in Scotland.

Good portion sizes(especially the naan breads) will leave you feeling full. The quality is decent but not hugely impressive. Don’t fear the 3 star rating, it’s worth a visit or two. They do delivery as well, which I’d rate at a 4 star, because it beats out other comparable places. Boom.

This restaurant was highly recommended by many of my friends(Iranian as well as Indian). So we decided to give it a go on a Saturday night. We were quite late and didn’t have a reservation but after getting there they were nice enough to put a table together for us. The table was in a corner with no ventilation and I felt a bit claustrophobic sitting upstairs. The starters were quite good. But the main course was very bad. We decided to experiment a bit and not go for the standard kebabs. The flavours were not to my indian tastes(Everything was a bit too sweet) and the nan bread was far too big and we couldn’t finish it. The service was a bit slow — agreed it was a busy day. All in all– I probably won’t be returning.

My two friends and I decided to visit Persia for a mid week dinner after seeing a 20% discount offer on . I’m wasn’t sure what to expect; I hadn’t heard any feedback about the restaurant, good or bad. As it turned out, I was very, very impressed. I liked the feel of the restaurant as soon as I walked in. The interior was airy and laid back and the waitress was polite and efficient, attending to us right away. We ordered a selection of hummus to start and I went for stuffed peppers and vine leaves as a main course. The starter was absolutely delicious; avocado hummus, red pepper hummus, and lemon hummus, served with a huge circle of flat bread, all for £10. Even though we wolfed it down like a pack of ravenous wolves, there was still some left, a sign of the generous portions. When the waitress brought out my stuffed peppers and vine leaves, another giant serving, my poor waistband strained at the prospect. I still managed to eat it though. Persia is the kind of place that gives you serious food envy as you watch other diners’ dishes being carried past. Everything looks delicious. I will definitely be back. I also wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it to others. However, I would advise booking in advance as it was getting quite busy by the time we left at around 7.30pm. It’s not a secret — Persia is pretty damn good.

The test for this restaurant, when we were visiting Glasgow, was their traditional lamb stew. «Damned good!», he said. My tapas were excellent.

Following the demise of the Gibson Street Persian restaurant scene I decided to give the fancier Great Western Road places a try. Persia’s all-glass frontage offers a beautiful frame to the lit Georgian buildings of Great Western Road on a winter’s night, and a large dessert display case must lure in lots of custom. The restaurant was well staffed and friendly, but not in complete control, forgetting our side dishes. Opting for the customary grilled lamb as the best comparison with other Persians, I was somewhat disappointed by the smaller portions that were less well marinated than I’m accustomed too, whilst paying 50% more than the old Gibson Street places.

We couldn’t get into our first choice restaurant on a busy Friday night so we stopped here. It was crowded but they told us they could fit us in if we could eat in 45 minutes. We ordered the Mixed Grill for 4 and received a huge amount of food. The food was tasty and the service was friendly. The wine list was a little weak, but not too expensive either.

This place recently opened up in my area. I’ve only tried it as takeaway so i’ll keep it brief! I would recommend the mixed grills they offer, they’re better quality than a lot of places nearby. The sit in restaurant menu looks better so i’m looking forward to trying something a bit more unusual. They also have shisha flavoured tabacco pipes that you can smoke in a wee seated area outside!
