For me, this is the pub with the fishtank. You’ll find the Albion Inn in Hove near the big Tescos. It’s a traditional pub with a good homely atmosphere. Good selection of beer.

We’ve had a couple of really nice Sunday afternoon sessions in the Albion and I found it very friendly indeed. There’s nothing that makes it stand out from any of the other pubs in the area but I couldn’t really fault it. Its a really attractive looking place and the interior is in really good shape. The landlord’s been there for 30 years so that tells you somethings going well as the pub game can be extremely transient in regards to owners and staff. We had a really nice Sunday roast in there, we had to wait a little while but they were heaving at the time and were very apologetic. It was only £6.50 too! I think its a great place to pop in for a few pints early evening before hitting the main town.

A small joke to sum up the Albion: «Man walks into a bar… the music stops, everyone looks at him and then some tumbleweed rolls past.» My opinion of this place may be skewed simply because of one bad visit bad but it seems like the type of place that favours the stereotypical pub bloke. It isn’t a bad place; it’s distinctly average. For sports fans there’s a big screen. Free Wi-fi makes it a good place to grab a pint and check your emails. It would be a good local for those in the immediate vicinity but even so I would rather try any number of other places nearby.

WiFi. WiFi. Wifi. The Albion is a distinctly unremarkable pub. Neither great, nor bad, it is very safe. The staff are, to their credit, very friendly. The layout is very traditional and I would say The Albion fits well within what I would dub the«Old Man» category of pubs. Saying that, they do have a rather large screen with live sports and Wifi: free Wifi! Can’t be that bad then?! I wouldn’t make a special effort to come here, but if you’re after a pint and a bit of sport, or free Wifi, then it’s not bad at all.
