Murasaki Bento is our dependable takeaway here in Brighton. Although their sushi isn’t award-winning, their curry dishes are delicious. My husband and I always order the curry rice and curry udon with karaage chicken and we have not been disappointed! Delivery service also is pretty good — usually arrives between 45 – 60 minutes after it’s ordered.

My review is for service alone, as I never got my food. I ordered delivery. On the website, it says 12 pound minimum order, and an extra charge if you are more than two miles away. I’m less than 5 miles away. They refused to deliver me food unless I ordered over 30 pounds worth. Don’t put on your website you will deliver over 2 miles away with an extra charge if you won’t. Put a limit on it if you have one. The manager was rude on the phone, I will definitely not be visiting the restaurant and will let others know not to visit either if they do not like rude service.

Murasaki Bento is the take away cousin of the restaurant on Seven Dials. It’s a real nice alternative to your run of the mill pizza, curry or Chinese options that dominate the market. The pick of the bunch are the Bento boxes that cost about a tenner each. Expect Soy beans in their pods, quality sushi and other Japanese tit bits inside. Be warned though, it is easy to get carried away by ordering a lot of appetising dishes and this can make it a quite costly takeaway choice. Certainly a first class establishment with an emphasis on quality. Forget the Japanese sushi chains its all about Murasaki!

Murasaki Bento is one of the best takeaways in Brighton, offering affordable Japanese takeaway: a great alternative to ordering pizza on a quiet evening. The food is all cooked to a really high standard, tastes great, and is more than affordable on a young professional’s budget. Give it a go! A lot of restaurants in Brighton do takeaway, but the price is a little prohibitive, in most cases. Murasaki Bento is a great alternative to popping into Moshi Moshi or Yo Sushi and carrying away £20 worth of sushi: call up and have it delivered to your door for a much more reasonable price! And the food is gorgeous, simply tasty and comes in very nice mixed boxes. The combination of great food and cheap service is a real boon in generally-too-expensive Brighton, especially for take-away. It’s one of my favourites, make it one of yours too!

I’m spoilt. As well as having a Yo Sushi and Wagamamas within walking distance, I also have the best sushi take-away on my door-step. Murasaki Bento is closed Mondays but for the rest of the week, I can impulsively order great sushi, noodles, rice or tempura dishes. Or even better, I can treat myself to a bento box that combines all of the above! The food is fresh and delicious, the prices reasonable — around £4-£6 for individual dishes and £10-£12 for a bento box — and they deliver. I haven’t tried the satsuma age fishcakes, the vegetable gyoza or the sukiyaki udon yet but the terriyaki don salmon, pumpkin korroke, prawn katsu, veg tempura and futo-maki sushi are all finger-lickin’ good.
