If you are looking for a real Thai Restaurant than you should not choose this place. Unfortunately they don’t serve Vietnamese food even though that could be something that they may do better. Beware that they add a service charge of 10% on top of the bill without any declaration. for me one time is enough. I know so many real(and really good) Thai restaurants. So there is no need for this one. Sebastian from Frankfurt

It’s a small, nice place to have dinner. Food was really delicious. however, little bit pricy(we had a veggie set for two, which included a starter, small bowl of soup, and a main course made up from rice and three more dishes for £35. It was really filling up, but as for take-away option, I would go for something muuuch cheaper). The design of the place was a bit cheap and messy(we were sitting by some stock, sprays for cleaning, etc), so I would not recommend this place for very sophisticated personalities, but in general, it had its own charm. I would recommend it for someone who wants to spend money for something delicious, rather than someone, who is having a date.

I have a stomach ache. Very disappointed this time around using Muang Thai for what was supposed to be a take-away treat. I was really looking forward to it as I had eaten from here before and enjoyed it, but this time around… Ouch, so upset I’ve been parted with £40 for what we received. My boyfriend and I went for a mixed starter which was vegetable tempura, stuffed chicken wings, satay chicken, spring rolls and fish cakes. This came to £14 and everything we received was over-cooked and seemed like it had been made for Arietty and the rest of the borrowers. What a giraffe. I went for the Tom Yum soup which tasted like dish water — hardly any heat to it and the chicken was RANCID. Dry and looked like Deirdre Barlows neck. The boy then went for the special fried rice which he refused to eat. He found it dry and the chicken and prawns had seemed like they had been cooked within an inch of their lives, it was vile. I then had the roast duck curry which was £9.50 and came without rice so I then had to spend another £2.50 on that. The rice was stodgy and inedible and the roast duck curry was the consistency of thick custard. Hardly any duck, the bits I did get were pure fat. I needed a gallon of water to get through a few bites! We called them back and told them we weren’t happy but emphasised we had been surprised as had a nice meal here before and were told ‘same head chef!’ ‘all the same!’ no sorry’s til she had to at the end. The customer service is non-existent. This place is ridiculously expensive. I will end this on a high note though. While we rang back to complain, a very naughty, ginger little ball of opportunist fluff, my puppy Jarvis, crept over to the food and scoffed the lot! He is staying outside tomorrow — I dread to think…

Always a bit wary of ordering a takeaway from a restaurant that we haven’t actually eaten in but thought we’d take a chance. very pleasantly surprised as the food arrived in good time, piping hot and was really good. I eat Thai a lot and was not even vaguely disappointed. Very tasty authentic Thai food. Would use again

Amazing. I’m a travelling from australia and iv tried many Thai places and I’d have to say that this is the best Thai iv ever had! I ordered quite a few dishes to takeaway as was very hungry. Even the takeaway containers that the food is put in are good quality, more like little lunch boxes :) the red curry roast duck was cooked to absolute perfection, melt in your mouth, best I’ve ever had — as a iv gotten chewy dry duck from lesser quality places before and not been happy. The flavour Of the green Thai curry was to die for and the special fried rice had big prawns and very fresh ingredients in it. Based on the food quality, it appears this restaurant puts a lot if time and love into selecting food ingredients and preparing the food to a very high standard. I wouldn’t go anywhere else in Brighton now. Thankyou for a great meal* yum

I see the existing reviews are quite old. I visited this place twice in as many months earlier this year. The first visit I found the food to be ok, not the best Thai I have had but alright. The venue itself is welcoming and warm. When a friend visiting from London with a nasty cold wanted to have a Thai meal in a cosy warm atmosphere I thought of this place over the other more contemporary Thai restaurants like Street Thai which we both like. This turned out to be a huge error. The service was so slow. A couple next to us sat for ages waiting for their dessert. I can only imagine that their main meal was far better than ours that they would even consider ordering another dish. Our curries When they eventually arrived were grey and watery. One was supposed to be red, the other green but there really was no distinction. The rice had an over microwaved texture and my chicken had the most peculiar flavour and texture I have ever encountered. I could not eat it and when I complained to the waitress she smiled sweetly and said thank you. Under normal circumstances I wouldn’t have paid for such rubbish but I was starting to feel quite queasy and needed fresh air rather than a discussion that that would probably have gone nowhere. Never again. Ever.

Love this authentically Thai place and will continue to go back and order take-out from them. The food is always delicious and well-presented(both eat-in or delivery). Also, it’s quite affordable with most plates under £6. I always order the papaya salad to start; it’s my favorite! The times they’ve delivered it’s been quick, arrived hot, and in containers I can re-use(I hate when things come in Styrofoam). For £30 you can get a feast for 2 or enough for 3 people. Highly recommend!

I was surprised to see that this restaurant was still open late at night, when I randomly decided I was hungry. It was very convenient, because I was rather craving Thai food. The food here was pretty standard fare thai food, but I enjoyed it. They didn’t have Thai iced tea though, and the lady looked at me like I was crazy when I asked. does this just not exist in England?

I used to live just around the corner from this lovely little place so we used to pretty much live in there. The staff are fantastic and so friendly and the seating is so comfortable with a couple of really cosy little boothes with seats that are practically on the floor! The food menu is top end Thai. The red curry is in my opinion the best in town and enjoy that with a good portion of pad thai and you won’t be disappointed. The whole experience is also very cheap indeed. Hard to believe when the food is this good. They also do a fantastic take away service.

I’ve never been disappointed with any of the Thai restaurants in Brighton, but Muang Thai is certainly in the upper echelon as far a Thai restaurants go. Whether you’re looking to spend £20.00 for a single dish, or just £7.50, Muang Thai has all your bases covered. The Pad Thai Prawn is my favorite dish here, and only costs £9.50. As you get a large portion and the food has such an exquisite taste, it makes the experience greatly satisfying. Although I came here with a few co-workers, I didn’t look up once to join them in their conversation. While they were speaking nonsense about the difference between PC’s and Mac’s, I merely glued my eyes to the Pad Thai Prawn and savored every bite. When you get such a warm atmosphere and such delicious food, all your problems seemingly fade away.

This is the best Thai take-out(and the quickest) I have had in Brighton so far, free delivery too. On those days when I am feeling too self-conscious to feast in public, I bury the lower half of my face in number 81, 4, and a 7. The papaya and beansprout salad is amazing, really hot, really refreshing and super healthy to pave way for prawn crackers and a chilli beef mountain(the beef has been great every time I have eaten there, very tender). They have a few Indonesian dishes, which I think is set to become popular generally in the UK. If you can definitely head over, it’s the bright pink beacon at the top of St. James streets slopes. It is very near ‘Sawadee’, which is also fantastic and presents many difficulties for my general indecisiveness when choosing between the two.

I liked Muang Thai, although didn’t find there anything particularly special. However, I think to some extent I was unfairly comparing it to Sopar, just up the road from here, which is an amazing place — so I’m giving it the 4 stars, as against less stiff competition, it fares well. They serve up a good range of fairly standard but well-cooked thai dishes — curries, noodles, stir fries — with main dishes around the £6−8 mark. My noodles could’ve been a touch hotter, but no complaints in general. They also do takeaway.

Muang Thai, you let me down with take three — delivering two sad looking chicken kebabs in a plastic box, instead of the second sticky rice ordered. It caused all kinds of kerfuffle as I had the exact money ready too! Ah well, I’ll let you off as the rest was still delicious as ever — went for 55) Gai Pahd Khing (stir fried chicken with ginger and onion) at £4.95 and 68) Moo Gra Prao(stir fried pork with ‘a variety of thai herbs’) at £4.95… yumyumyum!

Muang Thai is my favourite Thai restaurant in Brighton and that’s saying something as it has some seriously tough competition to fend off! The interior is gorgeous, really bright with fresh flowers on the tables and traditional Thai decorations adorning the entire restaurant. Upstairs pretty parasols hang from the ceiling. The staff are always really cheerful and attentive, without being overbearing. The best place to sit is definitely downstairs, as they have tables in a wonderful cushioned area with foot wells built in to the floor– I’ve made it sound kind of weird, but it’s really cool! It feels like you’re at a Thai tea party or something! If you want to sit in this area, I’d advise calling ahead. The food is delicious and the attention to detail is impeccable– every dish comes with really ornate carved vegetable flowers. Ok, so maybe this is a pretty standard Thai garnish, but I’m telling you some of the flowers that will arrive on your plate are incredible! Everything I’ve eaten here has been delicious, but I can particularly recommend the vegetable tempura to start and the king prawn red curry as a main. Yum, I truly love this place!

Cannot believe there aren’t more reviews for this place. I have had just takeaways from these guys and it is THEBESTTAKEAWAY I HAVEHAD. They really really do care about the quality of food AND presentation. Takeaway food can just be shoved into boxes, these guys REALLY present it well too. Always delicious, not had one dish I didn’t like. Great chicken dishes, pork, beef, tried 2 or 3 of their thai curries and they are amazing. The rice. oh god.the rice is so delicious(egg fried, sticky, jasmine AND my fave-coconut). TOTALLY recommend these guys. Their meat is so tender. The vegetables are crispy, the starters are very delicious too.

The original and best Thai restaurant in Brighton. Amazing food and very friendly staff. For around £15 to £20 per head including drinks. Also take away with free delivery.
