A small Thai restaurant but so charming, the green chicken cury was really copious and very good ! The staff is kind, not expensive, if you want eat Thai food in Brighton, it’s the place to be.

We ordered the honey duck and the masman lamb, and received excellent, original, finely seasoned food. The staff were extremely polite and fast. All in all a wonderful restaurant which I heartedly recommend.

I had to pop here for a quick working lunch last week, and was pleased to find that you can get a reasonably priced and good tasting meal. I was able to get 2 courses for £5.50, although this was part of a lunch time menu that differs from the more expensive evening menu. I was pretty boring and went for fish cakes and a Thai green curry, pretty much the most well known of Thai food within England. I was not disappointed by the food though, particularly enjoying the fish cakes. The restaurant is very small, so avoid busier times if you want to get yourself any form of seat.

This lovely little Thai Tapas restaurant is suitably Brightonian: tasty, expensive and a little peculiar. The quality of the food is excellent, but big prices for little meals means this Thai restaurant falls a little short. Mai Ped Ped Ped(meaning Quite Hot, Very Hot) certainly lives up to its name: the food is tangy, more often falling on the overly-spicy rather than the pleasantly-hot side of the palate. Unfortunately, this is a splinter in the side of their main concept. Lots of small plates that border on too-spicy-to-eat mean that the food can’t be enjoyed quickly, nor that the multitude of flavours sit well on a burning tongue. However, it’s not like the whole thing falls apart: if the tapas-angle is ignored, the conventional main menu certainly has a lot going for it. I particularly recommend the Drunken Duck(duck cooked in spirits): absolutely top nosh. Everything else I’ve tried is very tasty, but not particularly memorable: generally, spiciness is the all-pervading flavour. If that sounds overly negative, I certainly don’t mean it to: if you’re a fan a spicy Thai, Mai Ped Ped Ped certainly has a lot to offer, and could not be more centrally located. It doesn’t jostle too heavily with any of the other Market Square/Lanes offerings, and is a great place to start an evening: spicy often leads to much beer consumption on my part! A quick final comment: make sure you get seated upstairs. The restructured town-house ambiance of Mai Ped Ped Ped, while suitably jovial, means that the downstairs area, next to the kitchen, often gets a little humid. Be warned! UPDATE: My fiancée wanted me to add that the Thai Green Curry is the best she’s ever had, and well worth the price!

This is such a nice place. I’ve eaten their lunch time thai ‘tapas’ on many occasions and, for a non sweet-toothed person, some really inspiring desserts. Not cheap, but the food quality more than justifies the price difference. A small & intimate restaurant that is really worthy of support. Chilled too!

I LOVE this concept. Thai? Oh yeah. Tapas? Absolutely. In a converted house with small, homely feeling rooms, this place has a lovely feel and a great menu. The ‘Thai Tapas’ dishes are exactly what you would expect — the same concept as Spanish tapas, with small portions that you can combine to make a meal. There is a lot more to this place than that though — main dishes are also good. I went for the standard green curry, and it would certainly give any other Thai place in this city a run for its money. They also do a lunch deal for around a fiver for 2 courses. Service could have been faster when I visited, but that might just have been bad luck.

Came here once with the missus for the lunctime tapas, and we really enjoyed it. Nice to sit out on the pavement on a sunny day, as it is with all the eateries around here. Service was quick and friendly, and food selection was excellent. We had a seafront orientated platter, and it all tasted fresh. Only frustrating bit was that their card machine wasn’t working, so had to trek round to North St to get some cash out to pay the bill!

This is a romantic, intimate thai place with a tranquil, almost meditative vibe to it. They do a thai tapas lunchtime offer, although I’ve only ever eaten there in the evening. If it gets busy there is also an upstairs section. The menu is presented in an informal, friendly and unpatronising manner with some dishes I’ve not seen anywhere else. Prices are pretty reasonable; supper for two comes in at about £40(service automatically included though!!) and for the main part the dishes are fantastic. That said, I had an awful Tom yum salad recently, but on the whole this is a welcome minimalist oasis in a sea of Italian restaurants
