A very disappointing experience. I stopped there on my way to work to buy a vegetarian sausage sandwich for my lunch later that day. I had to wait while they cooked the sausages, fair enough, except that when they brought my sandwich the sausages weren’t vegetarian. So I had to wait while they started again. But mistakes happen, although it was an annoying mistake as it meant I had a much longer wait than I anticipated, meaning I had to rush to get to work on time. When I came to eat my sandwich, I was extremely disappointed. No butter at all, and only the smallest scrape of tomato sauce, meaning I basically had dry bread which I hate. This is despite me being asked if I wanted butter and any sauces, I said yes to butter and tomato sauce. I didn’t enjoy that sandwich at all, I will not bother to buy food from them again.

The Kemp Town Deli and Bistro does food to eat in and takeaway. I’ve only ever had something to takeaway, although I am seriously considering returning for breakfast, tempted by their menu of rostis with delicious sounding topping, like haloumi and roast veg, or sausage and gravy, all for between £6 and £7. I had a goats cheese and roast veg roll to go. It was pretty good, the girl serving me fully ladled the fillings in, so at £3.10 no complaints about value for money there. The posters lining the walls gave the bistro area a nice relaxed and locally oriented vibe. If I lived up this end of town I think I would be in here quite often.

I usd to always buy my lunch there when I lived just up the road. The sandwiches and rolls are huge and I’ve never had a bad one in there. The prawn avocado filling is my favourite on a nice big bap! The service is fantastic and they always seem to cope even when people are queing out of the door. There’s a nice seating area inside and you often get some good Kemptown characters loitering around inside enjoying a pot of tea and some cake. I always grab some of their amazing marinated olives too on the way out.

I had a chicken with bacon and avocado sandwich(I think there was some mustard in there), and it was quite good. I got in just a bit before the rush, and what was a quiet spot turned into a semi-quiet spot with polite people enjoying Full English Breakfasts, soups of the day, cups of coffee, and cups of tea. As far as what I was looking for(a quiet place to enjoy a sandwich and enough freedom to sketch out a business proposal for an online gaming world), Kemp Town Deli gave me exactly that.

One ok experience, one really bad one. The first one was a Ham Salad sandwich, which was filled very generously and garnished with a very nice chutney. The second experience was a sit in Breakfast. Firstly they got my order wrong, so the food was scraped off and then plonked back on, except when it came back the order was still wrong. I decided just to get on with it but the eggs were too burnt so I quickly moved them to one side. Thirdly the toast wasn’t there. Fourthly I asked for toast, about 4 people were just chatting away behind the counter whilst I waited for my toast, 10 mins later they managed to bring it out. Fifthly everything had gone cold already. Sixthly, for two small breakfasts and drinks it was 15 quid. Not a breakfast place maybe but the sandwiches are good and perhaps the rostis and soups are their forte. Yes they have good sausages but how hard is it to prepare breakfast in a café with 4 tables and get it right, or even close? Ill be off to a cheaper greasy spoon next time I need a fry up.

It’s a real novelty to have such a quality deli on my doorstep. Kemptown deli offers a take out deli/sandwich bar as well as café/bistro. The deli offers an array of locally sourced produce as well as gorgeous international bitsys. In the café you can get all sorts of homemade delciousness like homity pies etc etc. Its a great healthy alterative on a hangover, but the sandwich bar is really busy at the weekend so get in early before they run our of freshly baked bread.

Right in the middle of Kemp Town village this little hidden café was a fantastic stumble upon for me. From the exterior it could be mistaken for a simple sandwich shop, which if course it is as well. But the venue also includes a bistro serving all of its homemade loveliness. The deli has a wide varied from the local area and international sources alike. If your planning to grab a sandwich at the weekend get in early as the lunch rush can leave the deli out of a lot ingredients, such as bread. If your taking a wonder through the village is a quaint stop off &1 minutes walk form the seafront. The bistro is open for breakfast, lunch and afternoon tea, serving full englishes, pastas, risottos and cakes for yumming up.
