This restaurant moved from its central location to Saltdean recently and I’ve visited it at both locations. The latter location, if you can make it out to Saltdean, is certainly worth it in the summer months, as they are now the proud owners of a lovely decked terrace. I love Goanese food, a type of Indian cuisine that has been influenced by the Portuguese with dishes like Peri-Peri, Caldine, and the famous Goan Vindaloo. They also use more coconut milk and slightly different spices than most Indian cooking so the result is something much fresher and creamier. The staff are so friendly and knowledgeable and will do everything to make you feel comfortable. My recommendation is the Balchao dish: cooked in shrimp preserve, it is steeped with rum and Goan spices and you can add a fish, meat or vegetables. I can’t really fault this place, probably the reason it’s been around for decades.
