Wanting a hot drink and a place to stop and read our books on a cold and blustery Sunday afternoon, trying to find a comfortable place to stop is somewhat of a challenge. It constantly amazes me how many coffee shops are closed as this time on a Sunday. Anyway, we stumbled across Café Tiere with it’s bright interior and comfy looking armchairs and made a beeline for it. I don’t remember seeing this place before so I guess it’s fairly new. It’s not classy or contemporary in it’s look, but it is small and welcoming. We ordered an Americano and a Chai Latte(my favourite) and nestled into a armchair each to read. Although not eating on this occasion I perused the menu — there is a wide choice of sandwiches, salads, jacket potatoes and the like, and all for an extremely reasonable price. The Wifi password is displayed on the wall and all the tables, a very useful touch. The toilets are strangely situated downstairs and through the kitchen. A little strange if they were busy preparing food, but on this occasion no one was here when I had to pass through. I did cast a discerning eye and can report top hygiene standards! The two guys that run this place are extremely friendly. The café faces strong competition here being right next door to a Starbucks(no worries for me, being a Starbucks hater), and just over the road from Red Rooster. However, if you are looking for somewhere intimate and friendly, the perfect place to chat, study, or chat with friends, Café Tiere is a great option. Fingers crossed that they aren’t squeezed out by the corporate giant next door.
