My son and I have a code nowadays. One of us will just mention«gelato» and we make a bee-line here! Most visits I noticed have been their busiest because of the glorious sunny weather recently. But today, being it’s a Monday, it was quiet and we even had an opportunity of prime seats outside. The guy who served us has been super helpful. My son took after me for being very indecisive. The guy offered us little taster scoops until my son’s face lit up. I thought that was very kind of him! My latte was nice and hot too that also came with a biscotti. I also noticed they have a bar and have beer on draft. Guessing it would be an Italian brew. The location couldn’t get any better either. It was our pitstop on our journey home and it was a fantastic choice. There will be plenty of gelato times ahead!

Chas and I came here for a sweet treat — it is the summer holidays ya know! And were really impressed, it’s a no frills, authentic, Gelato café. None of this ‘I’m so cool and achingly hipster’ just great, Italian goodness. I opted for a Ferraro Roche and Cb went for Oreo. He was very chuffed as it was a scoop almost as big as his head — really generous portions! It was delicious but I prob won’t have it again unless I’m in a reeeally sweet-toothy mood. The coffee was STRONG and flavourful, I was transported back to the little town I stayed in near Venice instantly, proper coffee. They need to install some toilets though, since they are selling diuretics. Unfortunately there was little in the juice department, none actually — just fizzy pops so cb didn’t have a drink. I hear they open late and have an alcohol license. I will also mention the amazing looking cakes, I think the next time I skip down for a ‘proper’ coffee, I’ll allow myself a slice… I’ve got to get to the gym…

I love that this place is open later than most ice cream/gelato places. The first time I came here was after a friend’s birthday dinner, and it was around 7:30pm. Coming from the States, I’m used to places being open till late, like around 9 or 10pm, so I was glad that I was able to still get some dessert! The gelati itself is pretty amazing. It’s so creamy and rich, which is why I’d choose gelato over regular ice cream any day. I used to work at a gelato shop back in high school and would always sneak samples and not be able to stop because it was just so good. I love the variety in flavors that Gelateria de Luca has. The first time I came here I tried the Hazlenut because Hazlenut is my absolute favorite flavor of gelato. The second time I came I had the Nutella gelato, and that was amazingly good as well(some places can really butcher the Nutella flavor). I had some samples of the fruity flavors, and they actually taste like the actual fruit and are super rich in texture, which surprised me because fruity gelati usually tends to taste fake or unusual, and the texture is usually too thin. The prices for the gelato are pretty good, too(£2 for one scoop, £3 for two, etc). The first time I came here, I ordered one scoop of the gelato in a cone, and the employee working gave me a huge scoop! I was delighted; I love it whenever I get more of something than I expect. The employees are super friendly; the place is owned by Italians and the employees are all Italian, so they’re really cheery and nice! I think I’m going to need more self-control in not coming here so much!

This fabulous little gelato place on St James street is a real find. I’ve been here twice now in the space of a couple of weeks and I can see it becoming a frequent stop off, especially as the weather starts to warm up. It’s run by Italians and this comes across in the quality of the gelato and the coffee. I don’t drink coffee myself but my boyfriend says that it’s the best coffee he’s tasted in Brighton, and he’s tasted a few! We brought two Italian friends here on our latest visit and they assured us that it was just like the gelato they get at home — high praise indeed. I have tried the hazelnut and the caramel so far. Both are good but the hazelnut is exceptional. I had a small taste of the hot chocolate on my first visit — it’s extremely rich, reminiscent of pure melted chocolate. It’s so rich, even I probably couldn’t manage a whole cup! They also serve a few items of hot food here, things like toasted sandwiches, but to be honest I’m more likely to go for the gelato every time. They also have an alcohol license, which is a huge bonus if you fancy something a little stronger with your dessert. Free WiFi, password on request. The only thing I don’t like is the lack of loos!

Gelateria de Luca is open a bit late because it is also a bar. It is owned by Italians, so expect some great flavors. So, not only do they have gelati(plural for gelato, fyi) & sorbet, they have alcohol! Awesome infusions of gelati & liquor — my two favorite things for dessert. They also have a selection of food & other dessert options. Service was friendly. Ordered the pineapple & it was really good! Prices aren’t too bad, but I’m definitely coming back for some liquor infused gelato. Come by for soccer/football games & meet some Italians.
