This has been a go to spot to pick up a good feed or even a hangover cure, for a few years now. It’s a seriously popular spot so be prepared to wait, but it’s worth it. I get the same thing every time, steak burrito, Mexican rice, beans, cheese, and sour cream — they are huge and delicious. The staff in this place are fast and friendly too and they have a loyalty card which you can get stamped for free food. The only reason for no 5 stars is purely the sit in vibe. I suppose they have done what they can with the space, but you’re all bunked in together, usually beside strangers, in what reminds me of a school canteen, only with less space and more fluorescent lighting.

Don’t get out off by the queue, it moves pretty quickly. Food is really good, made with fresh ingredients and quite tasty. Portions are quite big, so you shouldn’t leave hungry. As far as I know, it’s cash only, so cards can’t be used for payment. There is also a loyalty card scheme with a free meal with every 10 bought and when you hit 40 you also get a free t shirt. So get munching!

The food is ok. I was there a few days ago… The guy(long hair. almost dark red) added sour cream when I said I did want it… fair enough mistakes happen… BUT…Instead of starting over with my meal box he SCOOPEDITOUT! and wiped the edges with blue roll! Obviously the taste persisted. I just let it go as my wife was there and would have been embarrassed if I complained. Poor attention to detail. .makes you wonder what goes on out the back where you can’t see!

Fantastic feed! Unfortunately I work round the corner from this place so it’s almost too convenient! Though it’s a nightmare around lunchtime and dinner time with queues that snake around the restaurant and quite often out the front door! Today I ventured down at about 2.15 and happy days — no queue! I usually go in hard on a chicken burrito but can generally take or leave meat and to be honest I’m not the greatest fan of the chicken they use which I think is the thigh and find it often quite tough. The food though is really tasty and extremely filling — usually having had a boojum at lunch I couldn’t handle a dinner after! Nice tip though for anyone looking a cheap lunch — ask for a pot of rice(Mexican savoury would be my preference) they give you quite a lot and only usually charge 40p — or 80p sometimes if you aren’t ordering anything else!

Every day without fail a queue will snake down Botanic Avenue from the newly refurbished blue pillars of Boojum. But they big question you have to ask is, have the people who spend half their lunch break swaying from side to side, playing with their phones, leaning against walls in the queue actually fallen victims to the ‘hype’ of Boojum rather than the food? Before last week I would have answered definitively and my answer would have been ‘YES’! But last week I had an epiphany, I had my first Boojum Burrito in a few years. I was served up a huge, pipping hot tinfoil grenade that seemed to explode with flavour as soon as the pin was puled and the foil was unwrapped. Here’s what I ordered in it’s entirety… Mexican Savoury Burrito, Barbacoa(Shredded Beef), Pinto Beans, Chorizo, Jalapenos, Lettuce, Cheese, Sour Cream and Hot Salsa. Each item in the burrito seemed to compliment eachother perfectly! The burrito was filling and really well put together! A decent four stars!

Not as nice as I recall. Size and taste has been lost. Seems more bland now than an awesome mix of taste that I remember. Good that they are in a larger building now so when queing you can stand inside. Service is always quick and friendly.

Boojum is great for burritos, tacos, nachos and so on. The helpings are generous and so the food is very filling, as well as tasty. The new location is great as there is a lot more room to queue and to sit too. It is very popular with students and so can get very busy at times, though the queues generally move pretty quickly. The staff are friendly and helpful and are happy for you to take your time deciding what to get!

There is a lot of competition with food joints in Botanic. There was always a line outside Boojum until they moved to a bigger location. Chicken Fajita is my fav! Definitely worth checking out at a reasonable price.

Boojum is very well known and extremely popular in Belfast. I must admit I was late into the Boojum craze, it almost felt like a dirty secret to admit I hadn’t tried it but I am now an addict! The new shop in Botanic just a couple of doors down is very nice. I doubt you’ll see a massive queue out in the street now but that’s just because the counter is at the back. Don’t worry the queue moves fast and it’s worth waiting for! There’s more space to sit and enjoy also so if possible it will become more popular. The menu has been the same for years. Its not a massive menu but enough to change it up if you like. Sometimes I prefer a bowl sometimes a burrito. Sometimes have beans other times peppers and onions. I’ve yet to find a bad combination! This is as healthy as you can get fast food for a reasonable price. Very filling and tasty!

There are very few places I’d be bothered to queue for but I make an exception for this place. Jamie Dornan may have a boojum addict t-shirt but does he have 3? I’m guessing from his physique, he doesn’t! I’ve earned those bad boys. Liking the new building. I’d thought it would mean no queuing but it just means no queuing in the rain. There’s much more seating though. I thought the new owners would also meddle with the menu too but they’ve stuck with a winning formula. Still the best burrito in town.

Everyone in Northern Ireland loves Boojum, no seriously, even Jamie Dornan, he has a coveted Boojum Addict Teeshirt! It’s one of those places that never gets it wrong every time you are served here, I’ve been going here since my student days but being a newly fledged meat eater in the past year my love for it has grown. Their burritos are perfect, never too spicy, you can always add one of their delicious sauces if you need a bit of fire and the meats are always tender and succulent. In my most recent trip I went for a rice box. Mexican rice, chorizo, mixed peppers and onions, cheese and a mixture of their hot and mild salsa, delicious. When the students are in residence the queues tend to be down the street but they move quickly. Service is friendly and if you want a cheap pre night out tipple and bit to eat this is perfect as they are licensed to serve beers and margaritas. Food Options are limited to, burritos, rice boxes, salad boxes, nachos. But it’s all absolute quality. They had a little glitch a couple of years back when they changed their recipe for their Mexican rice, people were up in arms… Some people couldn’t even look at it. But they fixed it and it’s back to being delicious again. They’re expanding this particular branch with a new location a few doors up, it can only get bigger and better!

Boojum definitely deserves 5 stars as being quite possibly the best in their category. A burrito bowl is probably the healthiest you can get from a fast food place — apart from salads of course(although dressings are full of sugar in some places). So, if you decide to go for a burrito, fajita, a burrito bowl and whatever they have on offer, always brace yourself for a queue! :) Don’t panic though as it moves very fast with always at least 4 staff members behind the counter. They are really friendly and patient even if you are undecided. My personal favourite is the chicken burrito bowl with mexican rice, mild salsa, sour cream and cheese. There are loads of extras you can choose from: beans, sweetcorn, guacamole etc. The portion is incredible, I could never finish a bowl so having the leftover for dinner makes Boojum even more wallet friendly.

Another city another burrito day! On this occasion it was Boojum in Belfast — a place I’d hit with Matt F in Dublin the day before and I believe according to Stevie M(I’m sure we had the conversation and my brain wasn’t too beer addled…) the chain started in Belfast. They’re not bad burrito’s at all in comparison with UK burrito places, though if this was in the US and going up against an independent then I think it would be just nudging a 3 — but over here it’s good compared with some of the other more bland burrito chain places. Beer selection was fairly standard — Mexican lagers and Sam Adams, Anchor Steam etc. Good for a quick lunch/snack/dinner. Extra point for playing Oasis non-stop while I was in — it made me feel like I was back home in Manchester :-)

Spicy fast food. Pretty decent. One of the first Mexican burrito bars in Belfast to make a big name for itself, and its still going strong.

Love a boojum! Who doesn’t?! It’s cheap healthy tasty nosh! I love the chicken and chorizo combo burrito with everything in it! So filling! Now that they serve booze there too I don’t want to go anywhere else. The queues at lunch time are insane but that’s only because of the quality of their food. Everyone should try the hot sauce on the tables too! :)

There will always be a line outside Boojum, and for good reason too: it’s amazing! Whether you need a hangover cure or something to fill you up for a long day ahead, Boojum should be high in your list of options. For those who can’t order on the spot I’d recommended trying to get a sneaky look inside to decide before you walk in, the quicker it’s made the better it is for everyone else behind you.

Boojum has restored my hope in good burritos in the UK without going to London for Chipotle. I was sitting at Starbucks with a good friend, having a deep and important conversation. All the while, I watched the queue at Boojum get longer and longer out the door. This is usually a pretty good sign… either that there’s good food or simply that you’re in the UK. I finally deduced that it meant that there was good food. I came back an hour later to experience a shorter queue(after 1pm) as well as a really good burrito. I had a chicken burrito with black beans and their lime and basil rice. So good. I was sad when it ended, but really full. Thank you Boojum!

Love the vegetarian burrito bowl — heaven! Do pass by Boojum sometimes though due to the fact it is nearly always queued out onto the street as it’s so busy. Wish they also had more seating inside. Lovely food though.

All ready being used in the greater Belfast area as an adjective for something that would previously have been known as «weaker» or «beezer» example, «That film was absolutely Boojum, mate» the Mexican eatery of Boojum really is one of the jewels of Belfast. While you will be hard-pushed to find a time from it’s opening at 11.30am until about 4pm(open until 8pm) when you won’t have to queue for about 10 minutes before you get served PLEASE do not let this put you off!!! Once you get to the counter you are faced with a great menu that is really easy to read and decide what you can order which is a choice of a burrito(the best and BIGGEST option) fajita, taco, burrito bowl or salad and in these you can fill it with a multitude of chicken, beef, mince, peppers, black eyed peas(not that idiot ) salsa, guacamole and other delights that get wrapped up in a handy silver foil package for eating ease and you definitely need it given the amount of food they pack into them! They are hard to hold never mind eat! To quench your thirst from the variety of hot sauces the have dotted around you can get a soft drink or even an ice-cold bottle of beer which is always welcomed from this reviewer, and a HUGE burrito and drink usually cost me around £8 and leave me wanting a nap. The staff are also very helpful and I’ve never had a bad experience. It offers seating for about 25 people but you can also takeaway food if it’s a bit busy like it usually is or just to make others jealous as you walk passed them with their measly sandwiches. 11 thumbs up! and The Independent newspaper have recently called it in the Top 10 of Student eateries in the UK.

It feels like Boojum has had a constant queue since it opened all those years ago, and as I’ve frequented it plenty this is obviously not a problem. In fact a bit of a queue is a good thing. It gives you time to make up your mind as to what you want, change your mind, decide again and then add to it at the last minute. I usually go for the corn tacos, think I’m going to be healthy and then find myself asking for more cheese, more cream, more guilt and regret at the end! The food itself is fresh and reasonably tasty, perhaps not quite as spicy as I’d like, but that is personal preference. Also, as this place is so busy you don’t need to fear the stuff has been lying on the counter all day– it hasn’t. There is some seating up the back, a little dark and basic, but if the weather is good take it out and head up to Botanic Gardens– you won’t be the only one…
