Love this place. Have gone here the last 3 times visiting PR. The food is delicious & the service is very warm & friendly. They make you feel like part of their family. The owner(i can’t remember her name) is a total sweetheart. You won’t be disappointed coming here

This was the biggest disappointment I’ve had in a long time. I had high expectations with all the great Unilocal reviews. We walked into the restaurant and not a single person was in there. We thought it was closed at first. My party of 10 waited almost 1.5 hours for appetizers. We should’ve known better when it took 30 minutes for our drinks to arrive. I have so much more to complain about but long story short, the wait for food was about 2 hours, we were starving and the food still tasted dry and over cooked. I would give this place zero stars if I could. I will never return.

If you’re looking for real Hispanic food and you happen to be in the area, this is the place to go! This place was kinda strange at first because it’s hidden by a shopping center, but the food was far from it! We stopped in on a Wednesday night, and were greeted by a fantastic server named Migdalia! She was excellent with bringing us our drinks and taking our order. We had the vaca frita and the pork chops, both of which were sensational! I dare say the vaca frita was better than my grandmother’s!(And if you’re a true Hispanic, you know THAT’S saying something!) The congri was far better than I imagined, and the white rice with red beans were also delicious because the beans were flavored with a very savory sauce! Both the tostones and the maduros were good, too! However, the best part of the meal(as it should be) was the dessert! We had a coconut flan and it was DELECTABLE! It was the perfect flan! Thick consistency, sweet flavor, subtle tint of coconut! And everything was very fairly priced for the amount of food served! The whole bill was $ 35! Buen provecho!

If you’re in Rio Grande, you’ve got to stop and eat here. Everyone is so friendly and polite and the food is awesome. We had the Chuletas can-can, nuggets de mero and molten for desert. We will definitely be back before we leave for Florida.

A really nice restaurant that’s a little tucked away. The grouper is good, and the skirt steak is really good. Great rice and beans, and really good mojiotos. It’s lovely sitting, drinking, and eating on their lovely porch and just relaxing.

Came for lunch with a group. Looks like a small Mom & Pop shop but it’s ran efficiently. Food was delicious, potions were fair, reasonable priced. The catch was grouper and I must admit I feel in love. Tres Leche was so soft and impressive. Def a place to visit while in the area.

The best red snapper I have EVER eaten. They give you the whole fish and nothing but the fish. Well and some yummy sides too. I had rice(with beans mixed in it) and plantains. And my partner ordered the pork chops which he said were okay(maybe a bit too fatty to his liking). Yummy mojitos and excellent service. Our server was witty and attentive. Overall a filling lunch experience.

My family and I visited the Fajardo area last week and had a lovely dinner at Don Esteban. Highly recommended for anyone visiting the area. The staff was friendly and courteous, the food was great and portions were large. We spent 5 nights in the Fajardo are and this place left a lasting impression. Thank you to all the staff and Don Esteban ’ s. We will be sure to visit on our return trip to the Island.

Food: 5 stars — delicious, fresh, authentic. I had the whole red snapper and my wife had the grouper filet. Both were perfectly fresh and cooked to perfection. The grouper nuggets kid meal was delicious too. The sides were Puerto Rican favorites(rice, beans, yuca, plantains) and all quite delicious. The deserts were excellent too. The table shared tres leches, pistachio icecream, and carrot cake — all were fantastic. The price was very reasonable too. Service: 5 stars — prompt, warm, and friendly. This charming local restaurant seems a little hidden behind the Walmart and Advance Auto Parts, but seek it out. You will be pleased.

Migdalia is hands down the best waitress we have ever had. Ever! She made us feel like a million bucks. We found Don Esteban based on reviews here on Unilocal. It had a solid 5 stars but I would give them more if I could! My group ordered churrasco, salmon, grouper, stuffed pot roast, and the Faja Esteban special. We ate them family-style and couldn’t decide which was best. All were exceptional. As for dessert, she served the best tres leches we’ve ever had. In a nutshell, the service here is outstanding and the food is excellent. Some of my friends said they could listen to Migdalia talk all day long. She really is outstanding. Salí Don Esteban con guata llena y corazón contento.

We came here based on the reviews. It was okay but we would have been happy to give this place a miss. The staff is very nice. The location was close enough to the biobay so that is why we stopped here as reviews for closer places were not as good. We sat outside which was nice. It just took a really long time to order drinks and then food and then wait for drinks and then food. We feel like our time was spent too long here. Not a place to come if you are in a hurry or would rather enjoy your time in the sun or doing activies. This is place to go if you want to sit somewhere for a couple of hours and eat good and filling food and drink good pina coladas. The prices were a little high but worth the price I think. I ordered the grouper mofongo. It was very good and very filling. I had not had a big breakfast so I was very hungry. Well this filled me up and I ended up not eating dinner because it just sits in your tummy. Know this reader– I like to eat. So skipping dinner is not normal. There was a generous amount of grouper and I was very pleased with the plate. My husband had the shrimp mofongo and loved it. He was wrapped in the creole sauce as well. The piña colada was a good one too. The location is off the hwy behind auto. Unilocal directions take you there– Google maps took us to the wrong place.

Excellent food, but even better service. The waitress was amazing. We have the chicken trifongo and the coconut pastry appetizers(can’t remember the name). Atmosphere is awesome too. Very relaxing sitting out by all the green grass.

Wow, just wow. Very friendly and food was amazing. I had the shrimp mofongo and was very impressed. The mojito was very fresh and tasted great. I got the coconut flan, but probably wouldn’t get it again. It wasn’t bad, but it wasn’t great. Google Maps has the location wrong, but the one Unilocal is correct. Well worth the stop and prices were very reasonable.

NOTE: we came here after hiking El Yunque rainforest with a tour group, so the food we received is probably not the norm Food was delicious!!! My group of three tried the garlic chicken, pork chop and skirt steak plate. Each plate came with rice, beans, fried plantain, sweet plantain and a salad. Super delicious and filling. Dessert was also included — pistachio ice cream, carrot cake and vanilla flan. Also yum! Coffee was only $ 1.50 and sooo good! The hostess/owner was super nice and motherly. I love her. :)

Amazing food and service here. My husband found this place through an internet search. There were tons of great reviews so we decided to have our last dinner here. The owner is a very kind-hearted woman who makes you feel like family. She greeted us on the porch as she saw us pull in and park. I felt like I was visiting my grandma or something. The Don Esteban mojito is the best mojito I drank while here in PR. I also had the shrimp stuffed mofongo in the creole sauce. It was incredible. If you don’t know what to order, you can’t go wrong with this dish. They serve mofongo three different ways. I chose the mix between the sweet and unsweet plantains. Mofongo is SOGOOD! Ended the meal with tres leches cake which was fantastic too.

I had bookmarked this place to try during my visit only to find out the bride and groom booked this place for their Wedding Dinner and when I talked to the bride she informed me she original tried this place because of Unilocal!Good olé Unilocal(kudos). The entire outdoor patio was reserved for the Wedding Dinner where we were served warm bread and drinks. For dinner we were able to order from pollo, fish, pork chop, or stuffed roast beef. They all sounded wonderful, but I went with the pork chop with grilled onions and arroz y frijoles. This has to be one of the BEST meal I’ve ever eaten in my life(and I’ve eaten at many places). I was the only one at my table of 6 that finished my entire dish because I couldn’t stop eating it was THAT delicious. The pork chop was bursting with flavors and seasoning while the arroz y frijoles was cooked perfectly. Simply delicious. We finished our dinner meal with a choice of vanilla or coco flan. Wow, the coco flan is a must! Not too sweet, not too runny, perfect. Since we had a pre-fix meal and everything was fantastic, I can only imagine what the rest of their menu taste like. I’ll have to visit PR again just for Don Esteban! Thank you for fulfilling one of my goals of having an authentic and unforgettable Puerto Rican meal.

Best meal experience in PR!!! We did the Yunque/Biobay tour through Bespoke Lifestyle Management and they brought us to this restaurant for a late lunch on the way to the Bioluminescent Bay. Our guide kept raving about their food which increased my expectations. They sure didn’t disappoint!!! This restaurant is owned by the sweetest Puerto Rican lady married to the chef who’s Cuban. We sat outdoors and the ambiance was great. Our lunch included choice of steak, fish or chicken with salad, plantains, etc. I tasted a bit of them all and liked them all but my favorite was the fish. Light and tasty. The mango frape/smoothie was delicious!!! I drank more than one. The flan and tres leches were good too but the tres leches was my favorite. TOTALLYRECOMMENDED!!!
