Zussen

Pff… came back and walked away. Just like the last time it took ages for someone to come see us, but this time we walked away before they ever even came. A ten minute wait for a casual cocktail with a waiter having walked by twice but ignoring us anyway is just unacceptable.
Sadly I’ve been hearing more stories like mine lately so I’m not even going to try again. Broers next door is from the same owners, but a much cooler and more fun place where people actually want to serve you. Also, you can order the same cocktails that are on the menu at Zussen, but have a server that will come by to take your order, bring it to you and even come by to see how you’re doing. Shocking stuff in comparison to Zussen!
So my advice: go to Broers. Or anywhere else in Utrecht where they also have cocktails if that’s what your after, like Hemingway or van Velsen.

Nice bar in the middle of Utrecht.
Good cocktails, with an ample menu. Not too much alcohol.
Service is nice but very very slow.
You can either sit in one of the table and have also something to eat or just at the bar.
The place looks way smaller from outside than what actually is.
Crowd is not the youngest.

Love this place! Whoever was an interior designer amazing job! I think that’s the best coctail bar in Utrecht. Loved those nude oil canvases of Rubens size ladies, loved an enormous lamp golden lamp shades, loved high ceiling and drinks of course. The place for girls night out. Five stars solid.
