Sometimes I think Kraantje Lek suffers from multiple personality disorder. The outside has a little playground, goats, and the most magnificent sand hill that seemed as big as a mountain to us when we were children. We spent many happy hours rolling down the hill, digging, running, climbing, and stuffing ourselves with pancakes. The pancakes are good, no complaints there. Service is slow, but I think they get so busy on summer weekend days that they get a little overwhelmed on the pancake side of the business. The restaurant inside really would get no more than 2 stars from me. Pretentious, mediocre, slow service, they clearly think themselves a much finer restaurant than they are. My grandfather has taken me there on occasion, but I would never go on my own. Stuffy. If you want innovative, high quality, seasonal ‘Dutch’ food, skip Kraantje Lek and go to Hout on the Wagenweg instead. Pancake restaurant: 3 stars Inside restaurant: 2 stars Facilities for kids: 5 stars

With a small kids farm, playground and serving of pancakes, this is a Mecca for families with small children. Situated as it is on the edge of the dunes, it makes for an attractive location. There is a restaurant with a limited menu(4 starters, two soups, two fish and four main dishes). I have found myself having to go to a water to remind them that something has been ordered. Separate building for functions.
