I hate myself for liking this, and going back on several ocassions, but I always do. The yogurt is bad and too sugary, many of the ingredients not fresh and while you’re there you always have the feeling that you are stuck in a candy wrapper. Its also not that super clean and neat. Nevertheless, the big plus is that you can make your own dessert which ends up being something too big every time(and as such, too espensive). That’s maybe why I keep coming back:-).

It’s a Fro-yo shop… what more do you want? These are popping up EVERYWHERE in the U.S. In our hometown we had none, and in three years there are three DIFFERENT chains. I’m used to how it works, but here’s the lowdown: grab a cup, put frozen yogurt in the cup(serve your self), put on toppings, weigh the cups at the register and pay. Yes, it’s a little pricey and the cups are unnecessarily large. Do not let the cup fool you. You will not need to fill it! The frozen yogurt was actually better than what I’ve had in the past. I got cookies & cream and then a little chocolate and I’m happy with my purchase. As far as service goes, we weren’t spoken to until we got to the register, which was fine with us since we knew how it works. Oh, and the vitamin water behind the counter is pricey, but incredibly refreshing!

I hate this place and I do so for several reasons but let me first talk about the good things because they do have some of those. The good: The plain yogurt flavor tastes OK, albeit too sweet. They have LOTS of different kinds of toppings, way more than any other froyo place in Amsterdam. They have fruits and nuts, candies and chocolates, and all kinds of gooey toppings such as caramel and peanut butter and much more. You don’t pay per topping but you pay for the total weight of your big, deep and wide cup. You decide how much yogurt, which yogurt, how much toppings and which toppings and then you weigh and pay it. The fruits always look fresh. The bad: The yogurt is too sweet. The Italian chick who works there is so extremely annoying. We’ve been there many times(because of my girlfriend, she seems to love it) and every time she, the Italian girl who works there, is up in our face asking if we know how it works. We say we do, she asks again, we answer again, she asks one more time and we answer one more time and then she starts explaining the whole process anyway. That is SO annoying!!! Moreover, if you stay there and eat your froyo, you have to hear her do this to EVERY. EFFING. CUSTOMER. That’s not even the worst of it all… the worst part is: she shouts and yells EVERYTHING! This woman is amazingly annoying. My girlfriend loves this place and even she mentions how annoying she is every time we go there. That’s not the only reason this place gets 2 stars from me. What also annoys me is that this place(in the beginning more so than now) actively advertises LOWFAT yogurt… which is bullshit because yogurt fats are actually good fats and can be very beneficial to a person, even a person on a diet. What they fail the mention is the crazy amount of refined sugars that is in the yogurt. Refined sugars are far, far worse than natural fats and the body treats them as poison(for example, check out«Sugar: The Bitter Truth» on YouTube if you’re interested). The only reason I see for anyone to go here is the array of toppings they offer.

Went to Yogen Früz yesterday to try this. I thought it would be frozen yoghurt but it was more like just regular ice-cream, also had many calories. There are like 8 flavours of ice-cream you can choose from. I tried chocolate and vanilla. Also there are many toppings. I had blueberries, raspberries and chocolate crumbles. Because you have to do everything yourself here and the weight your stuff in the end it can get really pricey, so don’t take to much. Also, you have to pay for every topping even though they present them like they are free. I had to pay 4,70 euros in the end. The ice-cream tasted fine, the toppings are also okay. So this is a decent place to get your ice-cream when in the neighbourhood. The stuff is also nothing special though and very pricey so I would rather go somewhere else next time. Like getting a few scoops at Haagen Dazs.
