Came here for dinner last night with my husband and the it was a hit. This place only serves rotisserie chicken, but who doesn’t love that? Van’t Spit started off in the West, so this location in De Pijp is their second one. For those who care about what they eat, these chickens are sourced from a Dutch farmer who raises these chickens without antibiotics and in a humane way. You can read more about these chickens or watch them on a live webcam here( ). You can order the chicken whole or half and it comes super tender, juicy, and moist. The skin is roasted perfectly and the meat just falls off the bone. There’s also a nice selection of sides you can choose from. We had the organic fries, corn on the cob, and cole slaw. There was a lot of dill in the slaw, so I wasn’t a huge fan of it(personal preference). There are also a variety of sauces: homemade BBQ sauce, homemade chutney, piri piri, garlic mayo, and ketchup. Our cocktails were good too, we had the Dutch Mule and Bulliet Ginger — super tasty. Service was great. They didn’t have an English menu so our waitress took her time to explain everything to us and also checked-in a few times to see if everything was OK. The atmosphere here is super trendy and the restaurant’s pretty big. I think it’s a great place to have group dinners and I’ll most likely come back here with friends.
