Great food, we all ordered something different and shared and the dishes were terrific. Risotto with asparagus was classic and excellent, egg plant balls were fantastic., Arribita sauce was spicy and fresh and the tempanade was so good we had to get more! We all finished every bite, staff was attentive, very clean neat environment, if I lived in Amsterdam I’d go here often! Make reservations and go!

Absolutely fantastic! The food here is beyond compare. Truly authentic Italian fare, fresh ingredients, great taste. The ciabatta and sundried tomato tapenade they serve the table at the beginning is to die for. We both had salad and pasta dishes, but based on those and the quality of everything we had I would venture to guess the meat dishes are also amazing. Dessert was good(all house made) and the cocktails(we had spritzes) were wonderful. Definitely recommend this to anyone near the Spui in Amsterdam.

Nothing special. I was craving pasta & went here based on Unilocal reviews. Menu is very limited, service is very slow & food is ok. Not really worth the time or money.

Nice atmosphere here, great stuff, you get warm bread with dry tomato paste, tasty ! But the main dish is a disaster, clam with sand in the spaghetti, means that the clams is not so fresh. The other main dish we ordered is the octopus risotto, octopus cooks well, but the risotto is too salty for us. So I would not give here a high rating.

Suddlenly, my stomach said«pasta sounds good». So I went with it and just happened to be near the restaurant an aquaintance of mine said he was going to try out later on that evening. It wasn’t busy when I went in so I had my choice of tables in either of two rooms. The first room was standard with bare tables, chairs and booths along with the service bar and a view of the kitchen. The other room was much nicer with white table linens, candles and wine glasses already set and ready to be used. I chose the simpler format and took a table by the window so I could watch the world go by while I had my pasta. I was served warmed bread with olive oil while I examined the menu. The waitress explained the menu and told me what the specials of the day were. I really only wanted a nice large plate of spaghetti with a bolognes sauce but it was nowhere to be found on the menu. I settled for the spaghetti with clams. The clams were lil bitty clams still in their shells awaiting my attack. Now, I’m no gourmet but it seemed to me the pasta was a little undercooked for my taste. Overall, the dish seemed a bit salty. Maybe I was expecting too much. The service was good and somewhat attentive though not overly. When the waitress came to take my empty plate I surprised her and ordered a scroppino to cap the meal. That seemed to take longer than I expected to arrive. It was okay when compared with the best I’ve had. Overall, I was pleased with the experience but I didn’t leave satisfied as I wanted more. They’re also dog friendly.

Vaya, vaya …

Great Italian food ! When you’ve ordered you receive warm bread with their home made tomato tapenade which is god damn tasty ! Garlic prawns, also delicious as fuck. Highly recommended ! 2 entrees, a pasta, side dish and 4 glass of wine for € 64

We made reservations here on a Saturday, but walking in, it looked like we didn’t need to. The bread and pesto that they brought out was really tasty and a good indication of what was to come! We started with the antipasto misto, with salami, burrata, roasted onions and tomatoes. It was more than enough for two people. For an entrée, I had the spaghetti with mussels and tomato, while my boyfriend had the filet with white risotto. The spaghetti was really good(I’m still trying to find a recipe so that I can make it back home!) and the white risotto was to die for! I may go back and just order a side of it! Yummy! We had the panna cotta for dessert and it was the perfect ending to a great meal. Highly recommend.

Food and prices are decent but the 3 stars are due to service. We waited for over an hour. 2 tables next to us had the same pasta dish and they ordered after us. We inquired to the wait but no answer except, «it’s on the way.» Clams pasta a bit salty. Wine and bread good.

Despite the fact that Unilocal is showing this restaurant as NOT doing take out, we had a lovely carry out meal from them this evening. The food was terrific even though it was at least an hour before we got it back to our guest house. Had the salad with roasted zucchini, a tomato risotto, and their tournedos of beef which was in fact a single piece of meat, not chunks as I would have expected. All delicious, and provided with very friendly service. I would rate this as good value for the price.

Our first night ever in Amsterdam, a group of 4 of us went here kind of late in the evening. Two of us are arrabbiata addicts and it was delicious here. The bread was fantastic and fresh as well. Our friends enjoyed their meals but I don’t recall what they ordered.

After reading the good reviews, I decided to have a dinner with my girlfriend at Trattoria Caprese. After so many fake Italian restaurant I was surprised about the service we got. The atmosphere was nice and quiet, and the waiters were friendly, clean and professional. We ordered Linguine al Ragu‘ and Linguine agli Scampi as first course, and the were delicious. The only thing to point out, is that we asked if the Scampi was already cutted and removed from the shell, and It‘ wasn‘t. Panna Cotta and Tortino al Cioccolato were also delicious. We really enjoyed staying there.

My sister and I started with the bruschetta and it tasted very fresh. I had the Raghu pasta and my sister had a spicy red sauce pasta and we liked both. For dessert we both had the chocolate cake. Soo good. We had to roll ourselves back to the hotel. This was all for about 60 euros too which I thought was pretty cheap.

It was actually one of the best Italian food experiences I’ve ever had in my life! Amazing food, very good proportions, the prices were more than fair and the staff pretty perfect! The only downside was that given that the entrance of the place is quite small, we had to wait outside for a table to be free(luckily it was only a 10 minute wait). Definitely to be visited when in Amsterdam :)

Saw the reviews on Unilocal and decided to try it. Food was exceptional, but one of the waiters copped an attitude. It started when a non-drinker in our group wanted an alcohol-free beer – which they don’t offer. Seeing a beer bar across the street, I went over and bought one for him, and was told upon my return I was not allowed to bring in outside beverages. We were then persona non-grata. No followup to see how our dinner was. Drink order forgotten. Pre Fixe Dessert forgotten. Wrong bill brought to our table. Ridiculous.

A great find to be sure. The food is prepared with attention to flavor. Be sure to try the steak, lasagna and cheese board… and the best dried tomato tapenade(Laurie’s handcrafted) ask for her recipe

A very authentic italian trattoria serving dishes from the southern region of Puglia. Not an extensive menu but the ingredients were very fresh and the altamura bread served warm was an absolute treat. A good wine selection as well. Corteous waiters.

This was one of the best Italian meals I have ever eaten. The prices were incredibly reasonable, and the location is away from the main tourist areas but still close to the center of the city. I had the Arrabiatta and it was delicious. Great wine selection. Expect the food to take a while as they believe in the slow serving method that is more traditionally Italian. Comfortable and intimate setting. The staff also had no trouble speaking English.

I was heading to another spot but saw risotto on the menu and it sounded really good! Unfortunately I didn’t like it. Very flavorless, which is odd given it’s probably half cheese! I didn’t like my green salad or wine either. Salad was mostly all arugula and in big pieces, hard to eat and not much flavor on the dressing or salad at all. Service was excellent though and I’d give this place another try given it’s all fresh food with the caveat that I get them to suggest their specialties or best dishes.

Damen hoch!
