Thanks to Unilocal,I managed to find somewhere that was both open til really late on the Monday before Christmas, as well as being absolutely hilarious! A group of us wanted a night out in Amsterdam during our stay, with Monday night(oddly) being the night of choice. To be honest, I wasn’t holding out much hope of being able to find somewhere that was going to be open late and somewhere that would be a good laugh. After walking around and having no luck whatsoever, I turned to Unilocal and found The End. A karaōke bar! Something that we’d all enjoy so off we went. Upon entering it doesn’t really look like anywhere special. Reminded me of the kind of places I used to visit when I was a student, a bit rough around the edges with cheap beer and plenty of people. It was pretty packed here! There is a permanent karaōke set up at the front of the venue, with 2 radio style microphones fixed to the floor(assuming so they can’t be stolen?) and TV screens dotted about everywhere so everyone can sing along. I can’t remember exactly what the process was, but in order to sing a song on the karaōke you had to spend a minimum of 5 euros at the bar. We managed to blag a little bit and got maximum goes on the karaōke for the money we spent! Vibes were really good in here, everyone seemed really merry and was having a good time. There was no trouble at all from what I remember. I imagine the rest of the customers must have wondered what the hell was going one when 7 British people tried to sing on the karaōke all at the same time(sharing 2 mics!) I had a right laugh here. When I’m back in Amsterdam i’ll definitely be returning!

Thank you Unilocal for mentioning The End. I love this bar! You can rent the whole bar for 3 hours for only EUR80! So with a big group that is easy as and by the time the doors open for the common people you’re too drunk to care. The atmosphere is great, the staff very sweet even though they must hear Bohemian Rhapsody every damn day. I would love it if they would rent out the bar for a longer period so I can have my birthday party here :)

The name perfectly sums up where this karaōke bar should fit into your night. This is how karaōke should be — a place where you can sing ballads of heartbreak after one too many whiskeys, or attempt to rap(there’s no judgement here) while clutching your seventh beer. The selection of songs and the choice of booze follow the same rules– the standard classics. It’s no frills, old school: one mic on a stand, one stage, and you.

Surprisingly great english song selection, good sound, drinks a little spendy. Also be warned its on some of the pub crawl tours, so you might get a massive influx of people at random periods.

Quite dark inside but cute, with two different levels… the bar and the dance /sing floor. Lot of screens everywhere. If you get there with a group of at least 10 you can get the bar all for your self from 18 until 21… when it officially opens to public. Good bar and nice people… big song selections from the 70’s, 80’s, 90’s… and all the latest ones. Nice sound system and multiple mics for group gigs :) Good prices.
