Great food and very reasonable. I ordered the roasted chicken and was pleasantly surprised that is was a whole petit chicken. Flavor was fabulous and the roasted parsnips, sweet yams, Brussel sprouts complimented the dish very well. My daughter had the braised lamb shank that I had to try and very pleased as well. Staff was attentive and did check backs as needed.

Great location, fantastic as a sight-seeing spot and taking a break right in the heart of crossing rivers. Food has very heavy sauce though, not delicious at all. We had Sate Chicken, Dutch Steak, non of them are tasty nor special. Contrast between the view and food was too big, broken heart with tears… The waiter was very friendly, really like him.

We had a wonderful meal here with our server, Niek. The view alone was worth the meal, right on the canal! They also have a great local beer selection at the bar. Don’t be shy to get a bottle of wine and hangout there for a while. More of a locals place, but great meal and view for the price!

Great place. Friendly staff and a really picturesque location. Two of if had the chicken satay with peanut sauce which was awesome. And my dinner other companion had the pork stew which he hoovered up in record time — so it must have been good. Decent house wines too. If you’re in Amsterdam, make a point of going. You won’t be sorry.

Love this place. Friendly, cosy and with a beautiful view on one of the nicest Amsterdam corners :-) and they have nice beers too!

Best fries I’ve ever had. Excellent servers and a good selection of the mediocre Van Trexel beers. Food was good overall. Chocolate mousse was amazing.

Süßes, verwinkeltes, rustikales Lokal nahe dem Bahnhof Amsterdam. Hier bekommt man leckere Hausmannskost — Crossover Küche.

Just happened to wander by by this place, and it looked so great to sit by the canal and eat, that we took a table. Service was quick, and the servers were very nice. I had a pancake with cheese and bacon– so good! It was the perfect pancake– and the flavor was great. My husband had an egg omelet with sausage. That was good too! I loved my cappuccino too. This was just great all around everyday food. I will definitely return here when next I am in Amsterdam. Great view, great food, great service– who could ask for more?

More than good enough considering its location at the top of the red light district. It’s right on a canal but we couldn’t snag an outdoor table. Indoor dining room is attractive but somewhat stuffy on a warm evening. Surprising number of locals considering the touristy neighborhood. We kept it simple, with ribs, pepper steak and a burger. The ribs were very tasty and moist, glad I ordered them. Big portion, too. Are ribs a thing in Holland? The pepper steak was tender and not overcooked, but the sauce was too peppery for the two who ordered it. I tried it, thought it was pretty good. The burger was a big success. Frites were OK. The house beer was very good. Service was what the guidebooks describe as typically Dutch: friendly but remarkably inattentive. At the end of a long day of sightseeing this bothered us more than it might have done otherwise. Not inexpensive for what(and where) it is. Perfectly adequate and I might go back, but I’m sure it’s not the only good restaurant in the area.

Best dinner I had in Europe hands down. I ordered the chicken filet with paprika sauce. It was amazing. The bread basket with garlic butter was to die for. Great service. Great beer. Tons of outdoor seating on the canal. If you overlook this restaurant for dinner you are seriously missing out.

Eat here! Clean, friendly, and delicious! Started with some homemade bread with garlic butter — very tasty. Pork fillet with cherry sauce… Foodgasm! Some fresh steamed veggies on the side of this great pork filet wrapped in a thin prosciutto like ham. So tasty — will have to get this again. Was with a buddy, he ordered ribs that were great. Unique BBQ sauce that really stood out. Will eat here every time I am back!

Great location right off the canal but away from the touristy canal areas. They have their own special beer and their pancakes are excellent. I noticed most of the patrons were Dutch and not tourists which always speaks well if you want something authentic.

Whoa, what a fun location with great food. We sat right along the canal, so in between the boats and people walking by we were certainly kept entertained, along with the three Amsterdamite’s that sat adjacent to us. I took the risk and had a marvelous HUGE hamburger. It was as good as I have had, even in Dallas TX.

I was a little surprised to see this establishment rated as three stars by its Dutch reviewer. The interesting thing about restaurant dining is that the experience is largely dependent on abstract things, such as the chemistry between the server and the customers. Perhaps we caught a better night and staff? Whatever the case, on the night my dining companions and I went in, our experience was almost magical. On the night of December the 7th when we went in, we had just braved over five hours of train and bus travel(with a toddler) to get to our hotel, and then Amsterdam.(The trip from Friesland was a nightmare because of snowy and icy weather conditions that had plagued the A6 all week.) As we stumbled from the Central Station of Amsterdam, feeling barely alive, we needed some good food and service and we needed it that second. To our great fortune we tried De Haven van Texel by absolute chance. We began the meal with some fortifying Berenburg.(The toddler opted for water instead.) Thus warmed and restored, we ordered: –Frikandel met patat(a sort of sausage and fries served with applesauce) for the youngster –Varkenshaas puntjes met champignon roomsaus gegratineerd met Beemster oude kaas(pork with a mushroom cream sauce and cheese) for my adult dining companion –The Fish Special of the Day for me Dinner was enjoyed with a bottle of red wine. The Fish Special was excellent. The child’s meal was perfect. The pork could have been a tiny bit more tender, according to my dining companion. However, it was very appreciated that they prepared it without cheese, to his request. Dessert was Dame Blanche for the little one. The adults enjoyed an alcoholic dessert coffee(Thanks to public transit!) and Crème Bruleé. The Crème Bruleé was very good, but it could have been served a little warmer. Our wonderful servers knocked themselves out with the child’s dessert. It arrived with sparklers(like the ones people in America wave on the Fourth of July). They lit up the whole restaurant, but most importantly, they lit up the child’s face. That kind act characterized all of the friendly service we enjoyed there. Our waitress, in particular, was kind and bonded over a love of Thomas the Train with the young diner. I wish I could recall her name, she was wonderful. The view, alone, is worth dining here. We were seated by the windows and enjoyed a lovely late night scene of swans and ducks squabbling elegantly below. If De Haven Van Texel deserved to be docked a star for the not perfectly tender pork or the slightly cool Crème Bruleé, they MORE than earned the credit back by going above and beyond in every other way. All in all, it was a superb dining experience that I recommend.

Alles in allem durchaus empfehlenswert.
