Probably my favourite coffee shop that I visited. Nice layout, including tobacco and non tobacco area. Best of all; really friendly staff

There are better places in Amsterdam. The service is terrible. They imposed the consumption of other things if you would like to stay inside to smoke.

They rejected my Health Care card and another piece of ID as proof of my age, claiming that they only accept traveling ID (passports). It was the dumbest thing Id ever heard, but I walked away politely and without issue. As I walked out to leave, the waitress didn’t even wait for me to get to the door before she began insulting and mocking me, insinuating to the customers around her that I am underage. I am 25 years old.
Rudest staff Ive ever encountered in my life, and to boot they win the award for ugliest décor.
So many better coffee shops in Amsterdam!

SO many better coffeeshops in Amsterdam with better staff, better customers, better atmosphere, um, better weed. I’ve tried other coffeeshops after this one, and they were all much better.
I’ve maybe smoked twice max in my life before visiting The Netherlands and don’t care for it. But wtheck, when in Amsterdam, how could I not? Well, we dropped by The Dolphins because our hotel/​hostel (The Quentin Bear Inn, which I highly rec.) is literally right next door. I figured, alright, I dunno what this stuff is gonna do to me, so let’s play it safe and smoke right next to our temporary home, you know, god forbid. Meh. Turns out we should’ve just went to a different place because I was totally fine and didn’t need to rush back to my bed or anything. So let’s break it down.
PRO:
None. This place is scary. Ok, one. It’s never crowded, ha. *chuckles*
CONS:
Muchoooo.
Décor — Old, and dirty. A lot of odd blue going on. I guess for the water and dolphins theme? But it ain’t pretty. You can’t smoke on the first floor, and have to go to the dark scary basement with dirty yellow looking seating for some smokes.
Staff — Maybe I shouldn’t have had my feet up like I was about to yoga it out, but he really didn’t have to yell at me, that mean guy. I was a tourist, and he could’ve been nicer. Everyone knows that tourists are dumbasses and oblivious.
Environment/​Vibe — This place isn’t modern, so it doesn’t attract a very nice crowd. Everyone looks old and like they belong in the mafia. I was freaking out after each hit I took and looking at the people around me.
The goodies themselves — I’m not an expert, but whatever I paid for was suppose to make me happy. They had stuff that could make one happy, relaxed, etc. Well, all I felt were my eyes drooping and I really didn’t feel happy. I also really wanted to try space cakes as well, but nope, they only have weird looking space muffins here which didn’t look as tasty. If I was potentially gonna get weirddd by consuming marijuana, it definitely wouldn’t have been those ugly muffins.

If you are going to a coffeeshop to smoke pot and feel liberated, this is not the place for you.
The staff is incredibly rude and watches over the customers like hawks. The décor is cheesy and the music is AWFUL.
But if you are looking for this «disney world» like experience this is the place to go.

Great atmosphere, the weed was great and the theme is nice but the staff were particularly unfriendly.

not in the red light district. thats a plus for me! the staff seriously knows its weed. tell them what you’re looking for and you will get it. the prices are higher than some other shops but the selection was good and the fish tank in the wall was super rad!

I made the «mistake» of trying the Amnesia Coffeeshop first after a long hiatus from weed and my first trip into Amsterdam. Mistake as it was so good that it makes other coffeeshops pale in comparison. I came in for a joint at this place — based on the reviews. Was just for me so I was happy that it was priced well for a small one… until I tried it! I ordered the Haze joint, as I was looking for more of a sativa type high. I’ve smoked plenty of Indicas, like Purple Kush but the last thing I want in Amsterdam is to just fall into a catatonic state. But the Haze started doing that to me. Ugh. It just felt not as smooth as Amnesia’s weed and made me sleepy. While the décor was interesting, I’m not smoking to look at furnishings, I’m there to get the best high I can. I’d skip. :(

Beautifully decorated– feels like you’re underwater surrounded by mermaids. Check out the menu, but ask for tips before you order.

At age 33 I had never even smoked a cigarette, let alone marijuana. But, I wanted the full Amsterdam experience, save the prostitutes!
I had to work up the courage to go inside for fear of looking like a fool explaining that I had never inhaled anything intentionally (other than chocolate cake… My REAL vice!). But, I did a little research on this establishment on Unilocal before going and found the existing reviews reassuring enough.
I went in anyway and explained that I wanted or give it a try for the first time and this adorable energetic young lady that worked there (maybe the proprietor?) explained everything I needed to know and how to use the vaporizers (as I have never smoked!). After about 20 minutes I was «under the influence». Now I know what all the fuss is about… Or do I? I’m not sure what I went through was so great that I would want to do it again!
But for those of you that are novices and want to try it for the first time, don’t hesitate to visit the Dolphins (even if the décor is a bit over the top!)

Worst coffee shop I’ve ever been in, ever. The staff was rude (both of them) and inattentive. Coffeeshops in Amsterdam are a dime a dozen. Skip the silly dolphins theme with the oh-​so-​nasty, never-​been-​cleaned fish bowls and tanks. You’ll find better products elsewhere, anyway.

Cool place that has an underwater theme to it. They have tables upstairs and couches downstairs. I did not smoke but was just with friends who were smoking. They said that is was good and they were able to rent a vaporizer for free ($ 10 deposit).
People that worked there were pretty nice and answered all of my friend’s questions about what to smoke and how to smoke it.

Beautiful space muffins, and delicious too ! Be careful one is for 2 people (or even 3 cause it’s strong!) The inside of the cofee is really cute too, with some seafloor decorations everywhere ! Downstairs you can sit in big benchs which is really cool. Good mood, good products, I recommand !

A nice place to stop and smoke, although i must say this coffee is not exceptional. You can’t smoke tobacco nor mix it with your weed upstairs but only on the lower floor.

The Dolphins coffee shop in Amsterdam had friendly staff, comfortable environment, and clean smoking areas. It offers a downstairs lounge area to smoke tobacco and or marijuana and an upstairs where you can rent any sort of smoking paraphernalia you may have an interest in. The staff was very helpful and fun to talk to, and i would definitely go back to this place and bring my friends

Waking up in Leidseplein in Amsterdam on Saturday morning my friend and I decided to check out the neighborhood. We stumbled upon Dolphins, which I had read about and decided to stop in. A very relaxed ambiance, this Coffeeshop was probably my favorite to visit in the morning.
There are two sections, upstairs and downstairs, both with free wifi access. Upstairs offers some small tables and seating, downstairs offers dangerously comfy large booths with couch like seating, great for larger groups. Yes, the coffeeshop is Dolphin themed but it adds character to the place. At the bar you can order a variety of delectable treats at very good prices. The hot chocolate is a particularly delicious accompaniment to anything you may order here.
Each time we visited we were greeted by the same young lady, didn’t get her name but, she is a nice girl with a great smile. She is really helpful and will answer all your questions about anything you may need.

Einer der besseren/​besten Coffeeshops in Amsterdam, mit Rokeij und TweedKammer.
Das Dolpins hat 6 Vaporizer im rauchfreien Erdgeschoss; also nur Verdampfen oder Pur!
Der Keller ist dafür die Raucherhölle, der keine AirCondition Herr zu werden scheint.
Nennenswert ist die Dolphins-​Hausmarke, da die prerolled Joints günstiger sind, als z.B. in der TweedeKammer, aber Qualitativ zur absoluten Spitze gehören. Absolut zu empfehlen.
Die Musik in den meisten Coffeeshops ist unerträglich, das Dolphins macht da keine Ausnahme, aber es ist nicht so schrecklich wie in der Warmoestraat zwischen den besoffenen Touristen.
Weil die Musik aber da mal nicht so brüllend laut ist, kann man im Dolphins tatsächlich Menschen aller Herrenländer kennenlernen.

Mein erster Besuch eines Coffee Shops war hier im The Dolphins :) Kann ich nur weiter empfehlen. Super nette Kellnerin, die uns dann eine Einführung in das Coffee-​Shop-​Leben gegeben hat. Sie hat uns alles genau erklärt und uns jede Frage beantwortet :) Tja, was soll man sagen. Coffee Shops gibt es halt nur in Amsterdam :)
Für neugierige Anfänger:
Man geht direkt zur Bar und dort liegt meistens eine List der Angebot auf. Man kann einen «rolled one» (bereits gedrehten Joint) bestellen — wiederum kann man auswählen, ob man in pur (nur Gras — Weed) oder gemischt (mixed with tabacco) haben möchte. Daraus folgt, dass man sich für die Stärke entscheiden kann (light, medium, strong) Oder eben mit Hasch (da gibt’s ebenfalls wieder die oben angeführten Möglichkeiten)
Kosten: 1 gedrehter Joint (4EUR), 1 Ice Tea (2 EUR)
Wer selber raucht und sich Joints selber drehen kann, dem würde ich das empfehlen und Weed oder Hasch in der gewünschten Gramm Menge bestellen.
Auch noch wissenswert: man soll immer etwas zu trinken mit bestellen. Wenn man Hasch oder Weed pur raucht, kann man im offenen Bereich oben bleiben. Sobald Tabak im Spiel ist, muss man in den abgetrennten Raucherraum gehen.
Der ist im Dolphins die Treppe runter. Und dann kommt man in ein wuuuuundervolles «Aquarium» :D Echt wahnsinnig gemütlich…
