Got the salmon and pasta. It tasted like hotdogs. I am assuming they cooked the pasta in hotdog water. Perhaps this is the dutch way? «Weinerwater» I think they call it. The bread I ordered didnt taste like anything unordinary… Too bad. The ol’ dutch bait n’ switch: Give ‘em normal bread and follow up with hotdog flavored salmon and pasta.

Nice gastropub with super friendly servers and wallet friendly food. I got the bitterballen for appetizer and they were great! For main course, i got salad while my brother got the dutch beef. Both of us enjoyed our dishes! :)

This restaurant was on the list given by my hostel of the best Dutch restaurants in town. After visiting, I certaintly had to agree! I came with a friend very late one night for dinner, and was pleased that it was not crowded at all. It was very lowly lit by candlelight, which contirbuted to the the respectfully quiet conversations amongst the families and couples in the restaurant. I ordered the Dutch beef steak, which was very good! It was a very small portion and a little dry to be medium rare, unfortunately, but the flavor from the sauce and the glaze was delicious. My friend ordered the spareribs, which came out in a huge portion, and was also very good, had great barbeque flavor, and was not dry at all. Definitely come here to have some authentic Dutch food, especially by a restaurant that’s been around for a long time! I’m glad I came here for my last dinner in Amsterdam.

Exploring the area around dinner time and looking for a non-touristy place(in the middle of a touristy section), and stumbled upon this place which fit the bill in appearance, and so we decided to try it. Cozy pub atmosphere. Our party had wiener schnitzel, Dutch beef steak, and fries with mayo-based dip came with all our meals. Everything was fine, and service was adequate. 4 stars more for the comfortable dining scene, food was more like 3 stars.

Get the ribs. Ribs. Ribs. Everything else is ok. But the star of the show, and only real reason to go here are the ribs. They are also super nice people working there, a great spot.

After reading all the glowing reviews and since our hotel is in the area, we gave this place a try. There were lots of empty tables at 8pm — not necessarily a good sign. The bartender/server provided excellent service. He was friendly and answered our questions about the menu. We asked what their best dishes were so… Bitterballen: Beef croquettes that are fried and served with mustard on the side. Our server warned us that they were hot. They were extremely hot. I sliced them and steam came out. I left them alone for a few minutes and I still burnt the roof of my mouth. But they were good! 4⁄5 Ribeye: Comes with salad, fries and mustard with dill. I was not impressed by this piece of meat. It lacked flavor and there’s just nothing special about this. 3⁄5 Chicken Satay: Satay is one of their popular dishes but I guess we weren’t high to think this was good. It’s a bit salty and the sauce was not peanutty at all. 2⁄5

Ate here our last night in Amsterdam — wanted something more traditional and local feeling and this fit the bill. Bitterballen were excellent, service was outstanding, good beer choices — no complaints. Our meals seemed good, though I was mostly full from the appetizer and beer, so didn’t eat much. And as others have said, all the other restaurants nearby had someone out front trying to get you to choose their place — nobody needed to do that here.

Stoop & Stoop Eetcafe are situate amongst the tourist trap Turkish steakhouses and Italian restaurants. It stands out as a typically Dutch Eetcafe The menu is understated yet classy. I have enjoyed the Salmon in local shrimp Saus, my partner ate the vegetarian option We would both return although we did find it slightly overpriced

First holland Heineken was drank here and there was no looking back. We were looking for a quality Dutch meal and were very satisfied leaving here. Good service and nice atmosphere. More of a pub setting with people stopping in for beers. Noticed lots of people had spare ribs that looked quite good.

My Favourite Amsterdam Restaurant — Stoop and Stoop! I always manage to fit in a visit when i’m in Amsterdam. Its situated on a touristy side road near to the Lively Leidseplein and whilst most of the other restaurants on this street have to tout for customers Stoop and Stoop is always busy. You may need to wait for a table, but be paitient as its well worth it. We always eat Steak and Frites here, the Steaks are always Thick and juicy and cooked to perfection. The Frites(Chips) are tradional and homecooked Belgian style and served with a pot of mayonaisse. Served with a huge Salad wuth a really tasty dressing. I cant remember the exact price of the Meals but I know its great value and you get huge portions! The restaurant is only small, lots of small wooden tables and very traditional Bistro stlye décor. Just writing this makes me want to book a flight to Amsterdam — Just so I can visit Stoop en Stoop one more time!

Just what you would expect from a gastropub. Good beer selection, and interesting food choices. Seemed to be mostly locals when we went there on Sunday for dinner. Service a little slow, but only two people working in the front during dinner rush. Once we ordered, food arrived from kitchen promptly. If we lived in the area, we’d likely frequent Stoop & Stoop.
