My first visit I only tried a couple of cocktails. And as their name will probably have told you already, those are mostly rum based. I like rum. But for me the world of rums is not as rich as let’s say that of whiskies. But I’m always open to surprises, so I asked the bar’s owners to show me some really special ones. For instance; I like the smokyness that some whiskies and even some tequilas have. The guys from Rum Barrel offered me to try a rum witch was supposed to have a distinct cigar perfume to it, but to me it was just a faint hint to be honest. In the daiquiri he made me with it, it already got lost. Nice drink, but nothing awesome. Other cocktails we tried were those that give you this feeling of being on a tropical vacation. Lots of sweet flavours. Again nice, but to mainstream for me. We also had a variation were the bartender mixed in Angostura bitters, but that tasted a bit contrived. The bitters did make the cocktail less sweet of course, but didn’t feel like they really belonged there… Nice Try though. Luckily they also have a couple of other cocktails on the menu. My second visit I tried the warm white Russian for instance. I love it! And I tried a cocktail with a herbal liquor as an ingredient. That one was really special too. As are the bites! Their sweet potato fries and their spare ribs are awesome! As are their Mexican quesadillas. But their calamari is the best ever! A must try! So, nice place, friendly staff, nice cocktails and fantastic bites!
