Anothet Oost coffee place on the menu, quite small but cosy, had a cappuccino with soy milk and was a good one! The service was nice and fast as well.

I met a friend here yesterday and I only ordered a cappuccino but I was instantly struck by how strong and delicious their coffee was. Now I know where to get great coffee when I’m in that neighborhood.

Ah roost, written with American Typewriter font, is a wonderful little jewel in the East The interior is modern, all light wood and black metal/leather. I had the grilled vegetables with goat cheese salad and my friend had in a sandwich. what a beautiful looking plate it was! Loved the warm walnuts/grilled vegetables in contrast with the cold salad/cheese. My friend enjoyed his sandwich as well, fresh warm bread was on the schedule. The staff is friendly and helpful. Will go back, for sure

Nice corner coffee place with great lattes. They also have nice pastries and cookies and during lunch hours some quiches and salads. I especially like their blondies(brownies but with white chocolate). Add free wifi to that and I’m happy!

This place is a bit too minimalist for my taste. After reading the rave reviews I was excited to check it out myself, but unfortunately I found it a bit too cold and forbidding, and stripped down to such bare essentials that when we sat down at one of the window seats there was no place to put our coats and bags — not even a seatback. We persevered, gingerly placing our Christmas shopping and coats and scarves on the floor, and ordered some typical nice-café taste-test fare: a latte and a double cappuccino. Honestly — I wasn’t impressed. I’m a bit of a coffee snob and the cappuccino tasted like a salty cup of fairly bland coffee. Sure, it was better than something you’d get at Starbucks or Kiosk. If one is used to drinking«Dutch coffee» I would even call it GREAT. But there are way better shops in the area and I won’t be repeating my visit to this one again.

They have the best homemade croissant in Amsterdam! Also, my made-to-order Limoncello Cheesecake was a great hit for at our recent birthday party. Definitely recommended. The owner goes out of her way to make everything from scratch if possible. Certainly worth a visit or a sit-n-work session.

They make a mean cappuccino here. I stopped in this morning on my early AM walk and was pleasantly surprised by the foam, the flavor and the lekker cookie. You can really judge a cup of coffee by the tiny cookie they give you with it. :) The café itself isn’t so special. Kind of a funny atmosphere, not really a comfortable vibe. But, for a quick takeaway with quality, it’s a good spot.

Stylish new coffee bar in east Amsterdam. This is really an upcoming area. More and more nice bars and cafes are opening around here. Roost opened today and of course I had to take a look. It is only a 5 minute bike ride away so how could I not? :) This place is right behind the ‘Onze Lieve Vrouwe Gasthuis’, so it will probably be very popular with their staff. But it is also close to the HvA so there will probably also be a lot of students, and people from the hood of course. The place looks super neat. They really put effort in the design. The coffee is very good. I did not know what to expect since it did not immediately feel like a place where there would be superb coffee, but it was great. Also tried Sachertarte, a chocolate pie with apricot. Also delicious. There were other pies as well and also croissants and pain du chocolat. They also have a big lunch menu; various sandwiches and salads, it all sounded delicious. I think the people in Oost will definitely be happy with this place. It’s a nice place for lunch, coffee date with a friend or some alone time with a magazine.
