One of the few gay bars in Amsterdam that is not on the gay street(Reguliersdwarsstraat) and I’m actually happy for that… because this venue has lots of charm. I really like this bar for: — The crowd: The median age is late 30’s…and there’s no twinks trying to out-do each other in fashion. The guys are very friendly and just looking for beer, conversation and good company. It feels like a local gay bar just for the locals. — The venue: It’s near Centraal Station so it’s easy to stay to the very last minute before you need to catch your train/tram/bus. 2 mins walk to the station. — Activities: One of the things I really like about this bar is Gay Bingo on Tuesday evenings… I’ve had such a fantastic time each time I visit. Also on this street(Zeedijk) is the starting street of the Hartjedag( ) a multi-day event culminating with a parade of transvestites and other costumed men and women. I call it a gay bar, because there’s a gay flag on the outside and gay men inside but there’s always straight people inside as well. This just adds to the reason why it’s such a great venue. During my last visit I sat next to a straight couple, in their early 40’s, who were telling me the story behind the street’s name(Zeedijk). This bar is a must visit for any gay, or straight, person in Amsterdam.

Tight but warm when it’s cold outside. Very good service and inexpensive drinks even top shelf. Nice view of the canal from the back windows. Mixed group young to older. Enjoyable over all.
